    What's Cooking?

Tri tips are a great way to feed four or five people with one good cook. I bark mine both sides on the komado joe running hot. Then I set it off the fire and choke it down to almost nothing. Maybe 25 minutes start to finish on the grill, then let it rest about 10 minutes. Slices medium to medium rare to mostly rare cut cross grain about 1/2 inch thick cooked that way. Any good rub is good. Sauteed mushrooms are a great topper.

    What's Cooking?

Tomorrow I am going to bake polish sausage with kraut and apples. Make a side of garlic masher potato. Maybe some sweet corn too.
  3. I've got two. Can't get past how they made a two piece rod that I can't tell is a two piece rod.

    What's Cooking?

    Chicken enchiladas.
  5. Are you going to try and make it to Pyramid Lake to catch gigantic cutthroat?
  6. Look at the bellies on those fish!
  7. How are you with snakes? I've done some pretty mischievous things with a good rubber snake.
  8. I had no idea you were such a fraidy boy.
  9. The alberto won't do that to you. If you tie it wrong it won't ever snug up. And once it does, it's a very good knot. It's not easy for my old eyes and carpal tunnel ridden hands to tie, but I have it down pat. Just takes me a little while to get it done. Worth it though.
  10. It is very good Irish. If you like and appreciate Black Bush, which I do not doubt, you absolutely positively owe it to yourself to make the next Irish purchase to be Red Breast. 12 is awesome and the older the better of course.
  11. Nope. Outside Ozark.
  12. I've seen pics of one on a game camera that is just East of SaddleBrooke.
  13. It used to be better to be in love with our rivers.
  14. I'm really looking forward to finally being able to give these things a try. Went for the full monty. Congratulations to everyone involved. It's exciting to see what is coming out from your combination of technical abilities, fishing skills, and willingness and desire to share. Add in some hard work and willingness to take a bit of a risk and then who knows what is next? Wish you all the best on the river and with this venture.
  15. Mark it sold. Sent you a PM
  16. What do you want for it?

    What's Cooking?

Salami only gets so good no matter what. Volpi is that salami.
  18. Circle hooks only work when the fish are biting.

    What's Cooking?

Give them to me. Problem solved.
  20. I like those Clarus rods too. 6'6" LF with a Pfleuger President on it is in the regular rotation of favorites. You've caught a better fish on yours though.
  21. What do you think about milkweed though?
  22. Smart move. Iffy weather at best.
  23. If that was my boat I would get a Kevlar skid plate kit and use that cut to fit on both sides of the crack. Drilling at the toe of the crack is never a bad idea. Wood gunwales on a royalex boat are pretty, but take real care.
  24. Would have been a good MPG day to drive to St. Louis.
