    What's Cooking?

When you have a guy like me giving advice for free, well, you just have to know it's worth every cent.

    What's Cooking?

Use Ciabetta buns, toasted both sides.
  3. Great thread. This sounds/looks like a place I am going to have to experience first hand.
  4. I've had three Airstreams and an older aluminum Avion, a 28' Thor gas powered motorhome and a Fleetwood Discovery 31' diesel pusher. Motorhomes are the ultimate in comfortable traveling but they are a maintenance nightmare and they are all money pits. Plus you need to tow something to drive once you get where you want to be. What a pain! Very happy day when I finally sold that Fleetwood. I got so burned out on it I went back to using nothing more than a tent or if it was wet, a foam mattress in the bed of the truck under the topper. That finally got old again too (like me) and I bought another travel trailer. 26' lightweight with one slide. For me the essentials are A/C, a bed, a toilet and a shower. Trailer is the way to go if you ask me. Tow mine with 1/2 ton Ram with the hemi motor. Strongest motor in a pickup I've ever had. I did put a hitch on the trailer bumper but have yet to tow boat with it. That day is coming though.
  5. My theory about big fish is they want what they want. And it varies, there's really no hard and fast rule, or even much of a guideline if you ask me. If you want to catch big fish, fish a lot. And then you'll get your share. Really don't think there's another way. But I'm kind of a rookie so might have that all wrong.
  6. He's a problem, I will give you that. I didn't get to handle his early training though or trust me, he would be more like Lane. You know, able to catch fish and not act like it's some kind of once in a blue moon thing.
  7. I have a red heeler now that I am going to make into a boat dog. She's already well behaved on the pontoon.

    What's Cooking?

You could easily substitute squirrel for the pork and it would be awesome.
  9. Super Dave has Super Knowledge and is Super Great about sharing it willingly. I've fished with him and learned a LOT that day. Will definitely be there for a refresher course. Folks, you won't find a nicer guy either.
  10. Are you glad yet that you didn't settle for a lesser boat? That's a dandy.
  11. You're (maybe) missing my two favorite colors. Olive/ginger with gold head. Can't see head color on the olive/ginger you have in that box. And white/gray with the silver head which has to look like fry. Ham says I'm nuts for fishing with them because the feathers fall off of the metallic head colors - but I've only had a couple give me that trouble. One of my favorite things about Richard's jigs - besides how well they catch fish - is the eye never has paint in it. A nice touch.
  12. I've settled on neoprene flats booties with socks. Never felt that combination to be uncomfortably hot and I can go all day without needing to dump gravel. A little fine sand will work it's way in but not enough to be a problem.
  13. Maybe it's just me, but I'd keep looking for something that is more of a river boat. The price seems fair enough.

    Ouch

Been there done that, got the t-shirt for not passing the stone and instead having it removed. None of it was any fun at all. Indeed, the most intense pain I have ever had. And with two back surgeries, five knee repairs, two knee replacements and one complete rotator cuff tear and repair, I'm somewhat of an expert on pain.
  15. What all those guys said and more. Just awesome Bret.
  16. That's really good especially since the world record white is 6lb 13 oz. It had to be either a wiper or a striper. Either way, that's a loft of fish for a 12 year old on a 202!
  17. I'm not dropping this until Chief and Wrench agree to a face off, mano a mano.
  18. I guess the bullwhips suggestion isn't gaining much traction.
  19. I used to work for Union Electric. Worn out coal hammers made some fine anchors.
  20. Nice one Brett. Richly deserved. Can't wait to see the video!

    What's Cooking?

Be careful with that. I missed three days of work last week (should have been four) and wound up at the Dr. Office Friday. Got a steroid shot and ten days of augmenten to deal with the absolute worst sinus infection I have ever had. Had I been smarter, I would have been in on Wednesday instead of suffering through another two days. The steroid shot was close to miraculous - felt a lot better Friday night and now the antibiotics are working. If it's bad, don't delay, mine was not getting any better at all. Best wishes regardless.
  22. Talk is cheap. Bullwhips, twenty footers. With their left legs tied to posts 20 feet apart so nobody runs. Then we'll know for sure who cares the most about their fish.
  23. JoeD is a better man than I. High level jealous. Very very nice day.
  24. dt5kprs makes the best heads. PM him.
