  1. Just north of Deerfield MO. Great country that I was lucky enough to grow up hunting in. Quail back then was the real deal. They're gone now. There were and probably still are a lot of ponds that were good = really good bass fishing. And in the fall/early winter the best duck hunting ever.

There is a Jell-o renaissance going on here lately.😎

    What's Cooking?

Back to the 60's. Tuna casserole (extra peas of course) with crushed potato chips topping. Lovey wants cornbread too and what Lovey wants, lovey gets. Strawberry Jell-o mold with fruit cocktail and cool whip for dessert.🎯
  6. Another Saturday morning deer. This is his last youth season. This is a nice one sure enough, but last year he killed a true monster - rack and body. Can't find that picture though, dang it.
  7. Wow!

Congratulations to her and her parents!

    Nets??

I wonder how he would feel about that? Not a snide remark either.
  10. Glad you are able to do that.
  11. We brought home something like 50 pounds of blue cat filets. Set out 20 jug lines Friday night and Saturday night. Live bait. It was on.
  12. Dogpatch is a creepy place that has potential. A Johnny Morris / BPS specialty is dealing with what others won't and then making it work. Branson Creek is a prime example. So is Ozark Mill. Moved a historic bridge and saved the County Commission's rear end, not to mention saving the mill itself.. Will wind up bringing more business to downtown Ozark, which in the end will be a good thing.
  13. There's hair all over it! Yuck.
  14. I don't understand why you don't want someone to field dress their deer. It's really not all that difficult to master.
  15. Says the guy who gives more how to fix something advice on here than anybody. 😁

    What's Cooking?

I totally lucked into it. First night there headed to our condo and hungry from a day traveling and not eating. Spied a place called "The Fish House" in Key Largo so in we went. Waitress told me it was featured on Diners, Drive in and Dives. Not always available but they had it so I ordered it. Best meal of the trip.
  17. No time like the present to give them a decent knife and share some knowledge. Maybe they'll want to learn and take some pride in a new found life skill.
  18. For a man of your means, livescope is not out of reach. And from what I read and hear, it's the ultimate in finding and catching crappie day in and day out.
  19. love a good ratatouillie!

Ever had hogfish or triple tail snapper? They are both top shelf too. Had them both on the trip to the Keys.
  21. Well guess what.... That same log is blooming again. I killed another big walmart bag of fresh oysters. Plenty to share with the neighbors and there's a rumor my buddy got a boatload of Crappie the other day on Truman. Whatever shall we do? Bless these lately rains!

    What's Cooking?

And as for what's cooking... a cool rainy fall day. So beans and cornbread. A Burger shank and some country ham pieces, pound of great northern beans, a sweet onion and some carrots. It's smelling pretty good around here right now. Cornbread is a package of Jiffy, add a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of chopped pickled jalapeno's. Cooked up with a crispy crust top and bottom in a preheated and oiled #5 Made in USA Wagner skillet. The jiffy box says bake at 400. 415 works better for me. For when it's ready, I opened the next to the last jar of tomato relish from a couple of years ago. Think chili sauce with a richer spicier (not hot) profile. Gonna be a good supper.

Triggerfish are top shelf for table fare. Way way better than redfish if you ask me and no I'm not joking. Another often overlooked excellent and I mean five star table fish is sheepshead. Just don't let them bite you or try to put a stringer anywhere other than through their eyes. They'll bite through that stringer in no time and be gone like a wild goose.
  25. It's hard for me to think it would ever (and that's a long, long, real long time) be OK for any live - as in real loaded ammunition - to be allowed on a movie set. Any movie set anywhere. Much less a western or a cop movie or a gangbanger movie etc.- where prop guns are going to be in use. Somebody needs to and probably will go to jail.
