I have a 2017 Cummins powered Ram 2500. Great truck that I wanted to be able to tow a 33' that weighs about 8500 pounds loaded. It's great for that. If I only wanted to tow a boat, I'd still have the 1500 Ram with the 5.7 Hemi that I traded in. Diesel trucks are great for heavy duty and long life. Fuel cost is roughly equivalent to a gas truck but maintenance will eat your lunch. Quillback is right, the dollars favor a gas truck over a diesel, until you really need the power and are willing to stay in the same truck for a long time. Which I am. This is possibly my last truck, with any luck, it will outlast me. And then the dollars will favor the diesel.
Even so, gas trucks last a LONG time now. 150K is really nothing anymore. Back in the good old days a 100,000 mile truck was shot.
