  1. You need to remember this will all be over on November 4.
  2. Just try to figure out a safe fun Thanksgiving Day. I'm at a loss.
  3. I heard Rush "Closer to the Heart" the other day and ever since it's been going round in my head. A good one, by a good band. For the times if I may.
  4. Got it in writing. Lovey was here for it too. Not pretty, and I learned all I ever need to know about hospice.
  5. My best friend came to my house to die with liver cancer. No one no how no way will ever convince me to do chemotherapy. What a miserable way to live if you want to call it that and then to die.
  6. I'd rather be going fishing, hanging with friends, going out to do something ANYTHING, but no. Covid. Stay hunkered down. I hate it, but I'm doing it because I don't want to die soon, or give it to lovey to die soon either. Have not eaten in a restaurant since freaking MARCH for crying out loud.
  7. I am a box cutter, and I'm for sale, reasonable too.
  8. Watch netflix depressing chick flick "Away" all afternoon. Go get mail. Do a couple of shots of whiskey on the way down and back. Make chicken and rice casserole. One more shot. Change into flannel pajama bottoms and a T shirt. One more shot. Get ready to steam broccolli. One more shot. Please God, make it disappear and soon. My liver is begging you.
  9. Last week we went two days without an amazon delivery. On the third day, fed ex driver came up the driveway and knocked on the door to make sure we were okay.
  10. Everyone or nearly everyone I've met from our northern neighbors thinks their way is best and these Ozarks hillbillies are pathetic. I've told more than one whining about these hills and their hill people to feel free to hike it back home where things were good. And got that WTF look. Nobody made them move here, except those winters that they seem to miss. BTW, they can't drive either.
  11. Yell at the kids on the bus in Chinese. The inflection is all that matters anyway from a school bus driver.
  12. He was a favorite of mine too. RIP.
  13. Were you able to find something to eat? Love the 11 point. This one is thanks to my grandson Lane.
  14. Who would have thought an invertebrate could be like that? When she is clearly just playing with the fish.... I mean really... The family aspect with his son got to me too. I put it in my top five for certain.
  15. I've canned and eaten a lot of carp. Clean rinsed chunks as tight as you can get them in a pint jar. Tablespoon of ketchup, teaspoon salt ( or less for HBP people), one bay leaf. Pressure can for 90 minutes once you get to pressure (10 PSI). Good eating for anybody that likes canned fish of any kind.
  16. I know they came from a hatchery somewhere and that's about it.
  17. I dropped mine one time getting back in the truck after getting fuel. Same story, that was about the same time when it happened to me. It was a gas station in St. Peters. Left it in a bar in Dogtown one time too and got a call the next day. So I guess I've had my share of good luck too.
  18. I wish I had your luck.
  19. Best wiper spot I ever fished was below the lock and dam on the lower Osage, upstream of Mari-Osa. Killed them on chrome rattletraps.
  20. On the old conservation cafe, my username was Horace. Several people were surprised when they actually met me.
  21. Coffee cup more than once. A Stanley Thermos that I still have. Wrenches on the back bumper more than once. Last time a guy saw it and told me at a light. My phone. Got lucky on that one, remembered it before it fell off. Nothing like what Nash Buckingham did.

    What's Cooking?

No tomato paste, diced fire roasted with garlic. Looked for a rutebaga or some parsnips. No luck. So carrots and a couple or three yukon gold. Will have corn, green beans, canneloni beans and a bit of cabbage.
  23. A few deer or so it seems.

    What's Cooking?

I've got the crockpot going with an oxtail that I seasoned dry last night and let sit in the fridge overnight. Seared in a hot cast iron out on the cooking table. Big onion, six cloves of garlic rough chopped, two bay leaves 1/4 C Worcestershire, cup of beef broth, cup of vegetable broth set on high. Sous chef for vegetable soup and croissants for the Chiefs game tomorrow. Want that oxtail super done and cooled so I can separate bones and other inedibles and then finish with a veggie extravaganza.
