  1. I've got some advice for you sir. Unless you really need that $13,500, don't sell it. You'll be sorry if you do. Don't ask me how I know these things, but I do.
  2. I only know one thing for certain about how my days on this earthly plane will end - it won't be in a nursing home.
  3. mash down the barb and shake the fish off while it's still in the water.
  4. 200 yards is it for me even with my .270.
  5. I used to have an 18.5 x 54 semi vee with a Yamaha Pro 50 that had tilt and trim. I really liked it. Wish I had never sold it.
  6. What's your other choice?
  7. Been a 4 lb. Maxima guy for a long time. I also like P-line flouroclear.
  8. A buddy and I used to do a five mile three day float trip on the upper Current.
  9. I was on the way to Chicago on an Amtrak several years ago. Train hit and killed an old man and his wife at a crossing. We felt nothing when it happened, just train slowing down and stopping. 14 hours later we were on our way again. For some odd reason, when a train hits and kills somebody, a bunch of worry warts get all involved.
  10. Bill, I love you to death and respect your opinions. But I do not buy for one second the Shimano binding problems were a matter of bad grease. Spinning reels are not difficult to disassemble, clean, lubricate and reassemble. Done it too many times. And still had binding problems at the most inopportune times with Shimano reels. I believe you when you say they are fixed now. I'll have to take your word for it though, won't buy another.
  11. Somebody needs to tell those Norfork guides they're doing it wrong.
  12. Oneshot is right about RR right of way supposed to revert to original landowner when no longer used as RR. There were big time lawsuits back in the early days of rails to trails. The government won if you can imagine that.
  13. I've been a bit of a bike freak not that long ago. Have a Jamis Coda Elite, A Scott Speedster and a Felt 29'er that I changed to a rigid fork. Now that my second hip has been fixed, I'm hoping to be able to enjoy riding again soon. I never rode very fast, but I could easy ride 30 miles and actually did Springfield Bike Club Century in 2007or 2008, can't remember for sure. Still have that wrinkled sweat stained route map in a frame somewhere around the place. Bike shops are great places.
  14. I'm going to a shitake growing class on March 1.

    Cast iron

There is no comparison between old Lodge and new Lodge. I was fortunate with this find.
  16. You guys' wives must be amateurs. When mine gets on me I'll do anything - even work - to make it stop.
  17. When all you have to do is show a screenshot and hooks are no longer part of the deal.
  18. Kind of like what happened to the '49'ers. Talent will out.

    Cast iron

I'm going to fry a big ole deer burger in it tonight. It really did clean up easy and I think it looks like a good user! I hope this doesn't turn into another one of those things for me. I can tell it might get bad. Want to see a picture of your pre WWI and maybe pre 1900 skillet once you have it ready. Makes me think of those really old pics that the family still has of my great and great-great grands. No telling what stories a piece of cookware from those days could tell. Lean times, good times who knows? But something worth hearing for certain.

    Cast iron

I bought a # 8 Lodge cast iron skillet this morning at an estate sale. Has a heat ring with three notches and numeral 8 cast in the bottom at 12 o'clock and a smaller numeral 0 directly above the 8. I think it's from the 1950's. Very good condition, $15.00. Didn't even dicker. It was a fun sale and glad we got there early. Got some other cool stuff too.
  21. My daughter 100%. My son 0%. Talk about different outcomes from the same parents in the same household.
  22. I thought that was oneshot. But sometimes its hard to tell the difference so you might be right.
  23. Have you tried Viagra?
  24. I'll have what she's having. Skin that one pilgrim, and I'll bring you another one. Who are those guys?
  25. I've been there enough times to pick others ahead of it too. The purists are all ate up naturally reproducing trout. Which is a coolness factor I have to admit. You'll never find me there on a summer weekend though. Last time we did that with family it was not pleasant. At all. Pretty much true of most rivers these days though. Sadly.
