    What's Cooking?

Isn't it amazing what carving a turkey does to moisturize your hands? We did the family thing Thursday. Today I did a turkey in a Butterball oil less fryer which is actually a roaster. Cooks hot, ten minutes per pound. Has a pan for wood chips or pellets. Apple and beech went in today. Turkey injected with creole butter and heavy rubbed with Lawry's. I always use a thermometer, turkey at 165 and left to rest for an hour or so is about as right as I can do. It's no joke good. Dressing and green bean casserole are in the oven, gravy is ready. Merry Christmas to all my friends, family and the whole wide wonderful world.
  2. People eat oysters. I guarantee mud puppy recipe exists. Yep. Southern Fried Mud Puppies W/Jalapeno Ranch Tartar Sauce #RSC Recipe - Food.com
  3. I don't know a lot about engines, but we had great performance and trouble free long life from the Ford V-10. Not so hot on fuel economy though.
  4. Ads on my screen right now: Garmin Striker Cast GPS; A Staples ad; A Yamaha side by side 4 wheeler ad; A Kaegrell shoe ad; An Academy ad for a ping pong table. Pretty typical assortment. I have never seen anything that even borders on offensive with the ads here.

    What's Cooking?

I am eating the best burger I've ever had right now. Elk burger with pork fat, the elk was young. The meat was light pink like veal. Grilled medium rare, Marty Q sauce on a toasted bun. Picture would not be appropriate.
  6. Nope.
  7. need pics but a guess anyway: Oyster shelf.
  8. 10 HP is max on MDC areas. I used mine to get to duck blinds back when that was a big part of my life. Mine was a 9.9 Evinrude.
  9. I think a 16/48 jon with 10 hp plus prop outboard is the river equivalent of an '85 Chevy 4WD extended cab pickup with a 350, no rust and a decent interior. Did it that way for a lot of years and the only regret is the boat and motor are both long gone.
  10. I just drove my 2017 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins to Las Vegas New Mexico and back. Windy as all get out. 19.8 MPG for the 1660 or so miles. No trouble at all so far with the truck @ 90 K miles. All of those semi trucks you see on the road now use DEF. So does farm equipment. Don't be afraid to do something to help your grandchildren breathe some decent air.
  11. You know what it's gonna cost when your wife goes to Kohl's? I doubt it captain. I seriously doubt it. Let alone Zales or the car dealer.
  12. Should have got in trouble for taking care of yourself with the shingles shots. Bet they have them in Clinton and then she should be happy.
  13. I had just turned 65.
  14. As tough as you are, shingles probably should be worried about you.
  15. Let her have a fit but get the shots. You really don't want shingles, especially with all the other stuff you have going on.
  16. If you get shingles you're gonna wish you had gotten vaccinated with the good stuff. I would have gladly paid $900 or $9000 per shot to not have had shingles like I had. Still have neuropathy from it. Probably always will. You can get shingles multiple times. I've now had the shingrex routine. Had to pay for mine. Spare me from that misery ever again, please.
  17. Unlimited funds = you own every decent golf course in Missouri (or on the planet if you'd rather), no greens fees anywhere, and golfer's choice of a pro caddy or a customized cart with full wet bar, bull horns on the front and the same horn that Rodney Dangerfield used in Caddy Shack. Think big man, think big.
  18. The only problem money solves is not having enough money.
  19. I told my wife that one time. She said well then how'd you like to not see me for about three days? I said fine, sounds good to me. After three days, the swelling started to go down and I could see her out of the corner of one eye.
  20. Is a fishing tournament lie detector test a real thing or is Pete on another one of his little day trips?
  21. unlimited funds = five miles. think big man, think big
  22. I forgot to mention my Formula 1 racing team and the Kentucky Horse Farm raising derby winning horseflesh. And the world champion Angus herd on the Nebraska ranch. And my Kansas City Chief's NFL franchise. It goes without saying none of my family or friends would want for anything either. But to be honest, I'm to the point in my life that all of my needs are met. For the most part, I have more fun helping and watching others have their own new fun than doing it on my own.
  23. I'd have the best of everything including residences in the best places, best automobiles, trucks, boats, ATV's airplanes, helicopters. And the best support staff too. Chef's, maids, captains, pilots, guides, grounds crews, boat crews, maintenance crews etc. All of it. I'd be on permanent vacation to the coolest places on the planet. And never give it a second thought what anything cost. I wouldn't get on one of those rockets and get blasted into space though.
  24. I got married in uniform. Two of the guys who stood up with me wore cowboy boots with their uniforms. Whenever anybody asked them about it, they said they were in the cavalry.😁
  25. Facebook Marketplace. Price it for money you'd almost be ashamed to take. I sold my pontoon boat earlier this year in about fifteen minutes on there.
