There is a difference in predicting something happening and predicting where. We know that hurricanes will hit the coast, but no one knows where a tornado will hit. I don't think it was about bashing the coast, but about people building where they know eventually a hurricane will occur and the damage will be severe. Beachfront is no different then riverfront and no one believes we should bail out those people. We tell people they are on their own if they build in a flood zone on the big rivers, even though some of those flood zones were created by the COE trying to protect areas with more pull.

The dead arm is water on the east side. It's actually the original river channel. There are a couple of fishing docks there, but I don't know how well they produce, but crappie is the main game there. Either side of the spillway channel can be good, but it's hard to pick an exact spot.

Was the old channel still packed with boats?

I don't think the comparisons can hold water. There's a difference between living near the sea and virtually on it. I don't see the low coastal areas of New Jersey any different then living in the Mississippi or Missouri bottoms. You aren't likely to live a lifetime on either without disaster striking, but millions live in tornado alley all their lives without damage. They shouldn't expect people to underwrite their beautiful surroundings and it can't be compared with the bread basket that is vital to nation and populated out of necessity..

Cry me a river. Cardinals nest within reach of lots of bird eating critters and pay the price, but still there are many cardinals. Elk aren't new to the environment, just reintroduced, so either the birds survived when they were here before, or the birds are an invasive species.

Does that come apart so you can car top it ness, or do you just put Wide Load signs on?

I've been using ramps for roughly 50 years, and I wouldn't know where to start. If I had to pick one it would be the most common, doing things on the ramp that should be done somewhere else.

Long sleeve 50 SPF shirts, wide brim hats and a Buff. I still have trouble remembering it all, but I'm at a must point. The Buff's aren't real expensive and they have a ton of designs aimed toward anglers.

To be honest it's too early to really advise you. The lake is rising and where it will be when you arrive is unknown. The dam only generate when Table Rock runs water. You can fish it from a kayak and you can always launch from the west side and paddle across to the current seam, if it's running. The island is the "Rockpile" and it may or may not be visible.

I have been told that they can't digest it. FYI though, it seems they don't really know the difference between corn and yellow Power Bait.

I have one, but haven't use it yet. This is what I believe I'll do, or just cut the extras of.

We were there today but didn't fish that side. There were lots of cars there at daybreak, but surprisingly few by 10AM. That suggest to me it wasn't real exciting in that channel. Lots of boats in the old channel, it was packed and the crappie are still there very early.

If you mean my remark about the cost of looking Brian, that was what it would cost me to drive to Branson and back. If I go and can' find what I need I still incur the cost. I do visit them, but generally only if I'm going to be close.

There's a weedless plastic minnow called a Snagless Super Squirt. It's a BP brand and it has a plastic tentacle coming off the back that you stick on the hook point. I haven't used them, but the idea looks sound on the surface.

I'm not sure that it is obvious. They scatter their eggs and according to biologist they only spawn in the mornings. I would think that the threadfin would be the only important spawn for bass fishermen because the adults are a food source. The carp spawn is probably more important because they also spawn shallow, but the young stay shallow, Shad move to deeper water during the day, but the carp stay shallow. It's no accident that gold has always been a great color in cranks.

Can't debate that, but for some it's just too expensive. I can go to Branson and visit fly shops, but even before I know whether they have what I want, I have to drop close to $4, and that's just to look! So the bottom line for me is, it won't help anyone but the state coffers. I think it is simply another law designed to bring in more taxes while claiming to help someone. The thought that someone in STL or KC would pay shipping to save sales taxes doesn't compute.

Merc I think he meant BIG boats. The boats on LOZ that would be at home on the ocean can put up some real waves.

Unfortunately it isn't what it seems IMO. Washington, as usual, failed to note that a large part of online sales is generated by rural buyers who don't buy online to avoid taxes, but to avoid the time and $3+ price of gas. The bottom line is it's basically just another tax on rural America and it won't really change brick and mortar because the so called "disadvantage never existed. They actually had an advantage all along due to shipping cost. If you live in a city that provides you with what you need close by, you will pay sales tax because it is cheaper than shipping.

Just a thought, I've heard large Long Nose gars called alligator gar in years past . This wasn't a different name, but wrong identification.

With the explosion of companies offering fly fishing equipment and related goods I don't see how a conclusion like that could be brought forth? As the population increases it becomes harder to make statements that require counting every penny. Even one person switching from buying flies to tying their own can upset the figures.
