Well Been bait casting since reels even had free spool. I do not think the new reels are all that. I have 2 or three. They might be expensive but most are cheaply made. The whole thing is accuracy with me. I think bait casters are more accurate in the hands of those who can use them. I still cast when I need to. Other then flipping and pitching about 50% of my fishing is straight down.

I am doing something along that line now. I know some spots that 25 ft deep that bass will rise to schools shad about ten ft down. My current go to spot is on a small deep flat that drops steeply to the too the old channel bank down over 5o ft. You got to be there at the right time of day and year to find them there.. That biter does not last very long. I been down there the last down there 2 evenings in a row. Got bass both times but in a short bite. First evening only 2 at 3 and 5 lbs. last evening 4 from 2 rot 4 lbs. casting a Big Bite Kriet worm out and just letting bit sink.I have dropped a shot on them when they are laying on the bottom using that magnum Bass Pro trick worm with a little success. Might be even better if it was not just off a good sized navigation channel. Sometimes its all I can do to hold on to my seat much less fidget with my drop shot

Back on the water
Old plug replied to fshndoug's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I have known Wrench for over 25 year thru thick thin and Tornados. Sorry to say he has never worked on my boat but will next time I need it. Mostly because he told me not to be bring him a 4 stroke Merc 115. Just want to say you deserve the recognition. -
I think it might be hard depending on your way of fishing a drop shot Unless you fish it as Merc subscribes. I know it works though in the day time on ledges But most of my drop shooting is done dropping my shot or flipping it right down the side of a dock. I do not agree about the tungsten I think most of the attraction come from the weight hitting the bottom. I make my own Bell sinkers. I fish drop shot from in the range from 5/8 to 11/4 OZ. I think of what happens is the heavier wight hitting the bottom give more disturbance when they slam into the bottom cuasing more bounce to a fast falling bait and the combination of the two elicits a strike.

They said in their new release they are were going to CLEAN UP LOZ. They have the power to do a lotto things They can overhaul the boating rules of of the state and power company.

Solo fishing has a awful lot of up sides. It has its down sides as well. I do not know how to describe the mode I get into when I am fishing alone. It is just some kind of intense awareness. When I got anyone in the boat I am aware of that also and the two do not mix well. I know I catch more fish alone than with someone in the boat. That does not apply to Hybrid fishing. I am fine with company then. My Hybrid fishing buddy fishes for them with a 6 foot crappie rod and 6-8 lb test Nano Fil. I can assure you he sure has a ball.

I sure loved that Mississippi from The Lock and Damm just north of St .Louis. I know that area up north of Clarksville idc home to you Wrench.. Spent many a winter day below Clarsville dam catching a lot of sauger some walleye and crappie Back in my day and maybe still there just was no better crappie fish for numbers and size in Missouri or Illinois
-
That looks like a big lift I bet you get tired sometimes waiting for it to go down. I got a 18ft Targe setting on a 4000 lb box lift That thing takes a long time to go down.

My night vision is not to awful good anymore. I confine most of my fishing to the times between 6pm and pink up. We caught a lot of shorts( 13+ to 14+) a few dinks and one 4 lbs. in the past few days just fishing those short evening hours. Given my druthers I am a low light fisherman. I miss the night stuff a little but I have had had many many chasing the shade trips as good as night trips.

There are public lakes( and ponds) in the St Louis area that provide Catch and release with a size quality. Comparable to LOZ. I forget where when and how though. But I gat pictures now and then from somebody up there.

Sources Of Ethanol Free Gas
Old plug replied to dave potts's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Ethanol 87 89 0r even 91 will sure make a mess of the fuel lines and fuel jets in a lot of boats and outboards -
If the corp recognizes the the The potential and rates ir Questionable. You better believe something could break. Wrench as i understand it there would not be a tidal wave top thing. It would occur along that earthen wall and water would still come down real fast but it would be more like in a bulge because it did not happen suddenly
-
One of the BIG BIG things is it has a long earthen dam. It is not impossible that Truman could fail. The first responders have been practicing and making plans should just that ever happen. Right now they are having a problem with two much water in Truman and are planning a big release sometime this mid week. I think sometime mid week.I remember the flooding a couple years ago of several low area places on LOZ. Myself I do not believe they should have ever constructed Truman. But it is very clear they have safety concerns about it. Both the corp and every first responder unit on LOZ has been Practicing and making plans should that ever happen. I think they do not really have control of anything. faced with Climate change. There was a bit of good news though in the paper. The Coast Guard is going to start a crackdown on boating on LOZ They can deliver a lt more punishment than the State legislature controlled boat patrol.

That is true Wrench they are Stuck on it. Only thing I do not like is thought they stop at a limit there might be 3-4 limits.as to bending rod tip. when they come in with limits of them 10+ inches Ido not think it shows a lot of good conservation practices They are better at it then most trollers. There is really not a lot to know to troll. I prefer to work my lure myself and not have boat catch it for me. It is very effective though low skilled
-
It is about the best way I know of to catch crappie on LOZ any time of year. Have a buddy and his whole family are long liners crappie fisherman. Myself I do not like to troll period. I like to make my cast work my lure and catch my fish myself.

Never k ew that I looked any it like a chain was on the same river.
-
You can go on the internet and buy a shoulder brace cheap. I wear a double brace with I do ant heavy are hard work
-
So is everyfarm pond and lake. But it is not a part of the osage chain. Truman and LOZ are the chain here in Mo
-
The Pomme is not a Osage river lake.
-
Just who do you work for in the Federal government oneshot This should sound interesting.
-
At least you claim you did. It is not the doing it is if the doing drags you through some medical problems. Might make the rest of your life worthless. I think most old people Most of the air is not clean itself. Here in my area it stinks a lot of the time. Even if I have not eaten anything. I can walk ten steps and fart every step of the way.
-
Let me give you a good piece of advice take your butt up to University of Mo. They are the very best. And run like a well oiled machine. My shoulder was replaced up there plus a second knee replacement in just a 3 month period.
-
It might just be a peak at our future. Only thing I can see ;positive about all this rain it must be making it hard to ship all the Drugs and other illegal things up the Mississippi, Ohio,Illinois and Missiouri rivers

Braided line suggestion in a spincaster
Old plug replied to Haris122's topic in General Angling Discussion
I got braid, Mono and Nano fil on reels. I got to say if Braid will work on a sin caster (and it should) then so will Nano fil. -
Those 14' are a problem down the gravois to Wrench. I and my neighbor went out about 6 last evening to pre fish a rea he is taking a visiting friend tomorrow. I am not saying where we were but 14' was the standard all week. for me a few days I got a few better fish mixed in it. Last evening it was all dinks then in about 20 minutes we both caught a fish right short of 18' and about 31/2 lbs I caught another one that size a couple days ago. But other than that the few keepers I caught ran 15-16 ' I think this is a good example of what taking keepers and carrying them of in a live well 10 miles away
