  1. Small crappie i warm water do. Big black crappie can put up a good fight in the spring
  2. Your doing something here I commend you for. Your fishing out of the box and expeimenting. I was told many many years ago learn to use your baits. That in the right hands a good angker could catch fish on yourgrandfathers false teeth. I have no doubt about that. Rigged right.
  3. You and me both Wrnch. Looks to me like the guy is a out of box thinker. Iwould imagine a lot of his success caomes from catching nippers. As far as advertising your spots I have posted on here that if I tell you a spot do not believe one word of it. All these exact reports are silly to me. I believe you shoulf find your own fish.
  4. Well you see B Baily was correct There is one born every minute.
  5. Anyway you look at it that is a good day. Most keepers I ever boated was 18 between me and my neighbor in about 3-4 hours in a evening fternoon period on wacky worms. That kind of outing is a lifetime memory. On of the things that might be going unnoticed by lot of people is the angler that caught it was in the back of th boat. It is a good example of the reasoning of fishing slow. That impresses me more than what it was caught on. THIRD TIME I HAVE EDITED THIS POST AND IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED
  6. A individuals social interactions depend on a awful lot of variables. i would imagine some people would get sick and tired of being barraged with stuff out of the peanut galley of shrilling wanna be's. I respect that.
  7. iT has been gitting better the worse again around here. YEAH I wouod love to been out there the past couple days. But I am waiting for a small part for my motor because I a world cmapion butter fingers. I hope to get out there soon anyway. Just hope I can do ot physically.
  8. FAT CAT when you said hit the bsnk if you were giving advise there are not capital letter on here large enough to emphsize that point. That is typical of LOZ this time of yeaf. 96 CHAMP----- I am not worried about it clearing up anytime soon anymore. i am worried about it EVER clearing up. I have live 30 ft from the gravois arm for close to 25 years and NEVER EVER seen anything like this.
  9. Really it comes down to what works for you. i seen a picture of Alexader Putin fishing for trout with a spin cast outfit. Heck I even tried a long stiff Bamboo pole one time to flip behind and over all these dock cables around here. I did not like the cumberson thing and burnt it. It did work though. Got the idea from way back when they used to do something called doodle socking
  10. i want to go intothat place next time we got to springfield. Hope they stock a lot sinko type baits or trick worms in wild florecent Green and pink.cannot find them around here..
  11. Really bad shoulders. I need a light weight rod. i agree with Wrench I would like to maybe see a couple more guides. But they have cork handles and everything you get on a much more expensive outfit. i know all rods no matter what the cost can be broken. If I break one of these cherrywoods( never broken one) I could sure buy several for what you pay for some rods. One of the most expensive rods I ever bought came from Pro Bass. One freezing cold winter day I was out there fishing it and I gave it a sharp snap and it broke into three pieces. Wrench I know both wives here. With Pat after 53 years I have notvfigured out yetvif I am trained are just gotten to old for the struggle. With Ramie I am far to old to get into havgleing with a really strong woman You must be a fairly young lad Marcus. When you get to my age you are going to learn you rarely get what you pay for. Having a expensive thing is really nothing more than a status symbal. Trouble is lots of lads will bust the family budget for status symbal.
  12. I fish Berkly Cherrywood almost exclusively the past few years because of arthritis. Another uncool thing I am sure in this place. Its not that I could not afford to load my boat tomorrow with a bunch of 100 buck plus rods. I just was raised to look for practical useful value. I see a lot of that in a $25 dollar Cherrywood. I am way past the age of running After the Jones.
  13. I have been using pro bass excell for many many years with no problems. Of course that is not the cool thing to do I realize but it works for me. Only other line I use is 10 lb brais and I could not tell you the name of the last spool I bought of it. I think it was Spiderwaire what line cost does not really matter to me. 90 % at least of the linesare made by a few companies.wth a few proceedures. Then spooled onto someones trade mark spool.
  14. This question about what the water temperature is I think is so fluid it can not be answered. I bet there are select areas that are hitting into the mid 50 's no doubt about it. Depends how much sun and how it moves over the area, depth, water movement, even time of day. As soon as the sun moves the water is going to cool also. This time of the year I think most of us follow the sun.
  15. Sounds like you folks down there in paradice have a awful lot of thieves and vandells. I would bet a lot of it has to do with persons that do not like summer people.
  16. the gravois got worse in the mid sections last two days. Its cold also 41 degrees on my depth finder yeasterday.
  17. From my own experience and that of many others I know. It is a combination of both water temperature and sun that make unique conditions. In fact I have seen bass on beds earier when the water was still to cold to spawn. By the same token I have seen them on beds deeper and later than most people think. The length of daylight ( not just sunlight) sets set off their time clock just as it does all things in nature. I know that many bass in Loz will spawn under a dock where the light factor may be geeatly reduced besides. So the truth seems to be daylight call the season and water temperature call the spawn. MOST OF THE TIME.
  18. Post are not clearing after Inpost them. Go back to post something else and they re-appear
  19. Sounds to me like your Uncle did not have his thinking closed up in a box like most fisherman do today. That is another thing thats been going on a long time. It was Kalan I think used to make a single tailed grib called Mogambo. It was a monster of a thing. i used it way back when and swam it on a jig just under the surface where it would make a big ripple. Have not done that in years. I can guarantee it will work as well today as back then.
  20. Well Mr Bable maybe its time to face the reality. Your getting older and the body and mind do not like to go out into a cold spring day like they used to. Only thing that never changes is the desire. That I have come to beolieve over the years does not have a thing to do with thinking and good judgements.
  21. Do not pay wrench any attention and Neporadny either for that matter. They are sending you on a goose chase everyone knows there not a thing around all that concrete stuff but snags cables and stinky moss. CONOOR--- I have told him he should try writing in the past. He as a down home way of putting things. I think they would publish.
  22. Its not. I have fished wackys all sorts of ways including drop shot. They do not respond like a fluke. As far as the olor goes As Far as the color goes white works well but it does not matter a good deal. If your presentation is good they will hit about any color you throw at them.
  23. Flysmallie..... i have seen them jump and run near as fst as a rabbit when starteled. The thing is they are about blind and deaf Yet sensitive to sudden flashes of light. First thing i do when set up for one is turn on the yard lights and leave them on all night. That along with a game camera tells me its a Armadillo and what time I can expect them ( they are the most puctional critters I have ever seen) to show up. Then i just go out and sit in a chair with my 410 slug and wait for them. They are not bothered a bit by the steady yard lighting. But let them be in the shadows and you shine a fashlight on them you would be amazed how fast they can move at times. The other thing is not hearing that contributes to the hitting the grill ( i was told about it happening a few times over at a body shop in Osage beach.) I have actually shot one 10 yards away and turned on another one still digging as if nothing was going on 10 yards in the other direction and shot that one too. But had I taken a few steps in his direction he might have fled. Because of ground vibrations. I really think what happens on the roads is the strong headlight and vibrations catch them very suddenly and they jump straigh up. I have bever seen one jump any other way but straight up. As far as going through the grill and destroying the radiator. I have no doublt some hard shelled animal 25 or 30 lbs as they are, will go through the front end of a car going 50 mph or better. strange animals indeed.
  24. I have caught them at night under light. Use the same stuff I would during the day. It seems though like it is better on the outer edges of brightly lit areas rather than closer to the light like crappie. Years ago I used to fish a dock right accross from the mouth of the Little Niangua. You could sit there and catch them for hours sometimes. Every now and then you would get a surprise like a walleye, channel cat or bass. That dock had a very large security light on the end of it threw light over a very large area. Have caught them under same conditions at the mouth of Gravois Arm a few times around Tony's Point. I think its like anything else if you want to do it you will have to search for it.
