...it sure sets the fish up in defined places. Fished from 1430 to 1730 on the lower end; looked around some and once I dropped the trolling motor I never moved. WT 70-72 with a heavy brown stain; visibility 18" at best. Worked a channel break in 17-21 FOW with a 1/2 oz fire tiger spoon and the fish were just stupid this afternoon; caught 4 hybrids( biggest 6#), 2 stripers( see pic-they will be over 20" next year), 2 big blue cats(10# and 22#) one crappie and well over 30 good size white bass. Also had about a 5# LM spit my spoon at me boatside as well as several very large "somethings" pull off after lengthy tug of wars. My left wrist and shoulder are toast but I have a grin from ear to ear....hope Truman has enough so they run water for a few more weeks. Did keep some for the freezer but most were released. Mike

They can be changed without welding; I would have the lift maker out to inspect and set up for your hull - should be no big deal if lift is in good shape and you will know for sure you are good to go. Mike

Yes; I do remember that pretty glass Lund. I have a black Crestliner with a couple of black motors on the back(150 and 9.9) and usually fish the lower end/Gravi. Say hello if you see me about and I will do the same! Mike

I had fish hitting top water all around me and good show before the bass tourney take off; put this one in the boat before the first wave came by, but they did go deep once the races began....

The lake had more color farther from the dam and a good stain with recent rains; Cranfield area was fishing well. If the bass boys are any lead about 200 of the 247 boats in the Cyctic Fibrosis derby last Saturday passed me(just N. of Cranfield) on their way up lake to fish.... Mike

I agree Wrench; the beautiful thing about LOZ is you CAN catch a limit of 12" or better crappie from now through June if that is what you want to do. For my part if a crappie is over 11 it's usually going in the box and when I hit 15 I just change gears and go look for walleye or hybrids. Mike

Came down to finish servicing the tub and fish a bit before heading to Norfork tomorrow, got on the water Saturday afternoon and started looking on the Northshore for staging crappie, WT 52, but it looked to me like most fish were still undecided. Decided to run up the Gravois; found a real nice stain to the water, WT 54 and shad and staging crappie and whites piled up. Caught a limit of 11-14 crappie, mostly female and 10 whites on crankbaits in 15-20 FOW before heading back to finish my chores. Beautiful afternoon! Headed out this morning after(I thought) the rain and check a couple spots at the mouth of the Gravois( no joy)before heading back up to try again. WT had jumped to 58 with the incoming runoff and the big sow whites had moved up over night and were eating hearty; boated a limit of crappie and big whites in short order( and a nice shower to boot) and headed back to finish making ready to head south for the week to chase open water fish. Time to get after them! Mike

I would just add water is usually stained to muddy; have done well on bright crankbaits/spinnerbaits and darker plastics. Mike

My MO has been to stick around a bit if I have a floater; if it won't recover in a reasonable time frame it gets recovered to float in hot oil. Personally, I have seen this more with crappie than with any other species..... Mike

Wrench, that's understandable - they usually don't require fizzing when caught from 3 FOW.. Good question though. I've seen this on several occasions; have usually just cleaned those that would not recovered but there have been times when a sublegal was belly up. I guess a chance through fizzing is better than none....I picked up some needles to give it a shot. Mike

Agree, although I have seen days when a PBJ Ned with a chartreuse head will flat catch fish when nothing else will. Also have some hot pink on hand when fishing walleye haunts. Mike

They work but the fromt and rear hooks will snag if you give them an opportunity. If you plan on working brush or hard bottoms may want to cut them off.... Mike

No, the original. It IS squirrelly when you first engage the spot lock or contour following UNTIL it gets set up, then it holds and tracks quite well. I can fish a suspended jerker, jig, or spoon better now than ever with spot lock; no need to be concerned about boat control - even in strong winds when the fish are out in it. The foot pedal came with the package and works well, but I only use it when working around docks. I usually run things from the fob or my Humminbird. I will check to see about an update and load it onto my head - Thanks! Mike

Have the Ulterra with Link and LOVE it. Like RPS said, while not perfect the spot lock is plenty good unless you are holding very close to a boat dock. As stated by others above a game changer for me too; bottom bouncing on autopilot while following contours and having both hands free to work is phenomenal...I use the pedal while casting and after learning how to operate it serves my purposes well. I remove the split rings from all lure tie eyes and connect with thin cross locks to facilitate easy lure swaps until I find the "secret" for the day. Especially when running a trolling spread quick lure swaps are critical...but I do the same with JBs and other baits with no negative effect on lure action. Don't break any off due to a nick in the line from rotation on the split ring either... Mike

They are counting on more people using the MOHunting app on their smartphones and moving away from paper licenses. I have been going that route the last couple years and only printing deer and turkey transport tags....of course on cheap paper that needs to be protected with a plastic bag...? Mike
