So much for the state wide stay at home orders.

I'd like to see our "wartime president" make a trip to the frontlines and check in on the troops. Give him recycled mask to wear and send him to one of the harder hit hospitals. Worst president in history and he needs to be held accountable for his handling of this crisis.

In case any of you think this is a hoax. This past Saturday morning. West St. Louis county. My in-laws. They were sent back home 6 hours later, hospital asked us to come pick them up. We declined, which sounds incredibly selfish. They were delivered back to their house via ambulance where they have been with no available home healthcare options. Late Sunday night, we got the results. Negative for the flu and both have tested positive for COVID-19. What to do now? Send a grandchild in to care for them? there are 23 of those to choose from. Myself? My wife? One of my brother or sister in-laws? Who? Until they need a ventilator (which, it it gets to that point, 86% are goners), the hospital doesn’t want them and they are on their own unless we want to risk it. which is about to happen. They are barely strong enough to do anything including eat or drink water. 9th day of being down for the count. They tell us they want to sleep until it is all over. Going over twice a day to look in on them. Heartbreaking. Be smart. Stay at home. Hats off and great admiration to those on the frontlines, including these two fire department first responders.

Right here and this is spot on. No hoax. Currently watching my 80+ year old in-laws waste away little by little, in their own house, not in the hospital. Hospital doesn't want them and can do nothing for them until they need a ventilator. If and when they need a ventilator, they won't make it anyway. My biggest fear outside of that right now is them collapsing on their way to the bathroom and hitting their head.

Thanks everyone. Heading over there to cut their grass in about an hour, and to get a visual on them. No idea where they got it, but when the grocery stores first started getting a run on every thing, they were out shopping like crazy. Going to Sams Club, Costco, out to dinner, church, you name it, they were out doing it. They didn't take it at all serious. In fact I got a lecture about how they lived through the depression, WWII, they thought this was all overblown.

My in-laws, some of the nicest people you would ever meet and who are both in their 80's began getting really sick about 9 days ago. We kept our distance, but watched them steadily get more and more weak. Very early on, their doctor prescribed a z-pack (azithromycin). While that didn't help their condition, it may have saved them from the respiratory havoc that makes this virus so deadly. They took a ride in the ambulance together on Saturday, were given the test, took x-rays, and put on an IV briefly. Not having any breathing issues so they were immediately sent home. Their tests results both came back positive a couple days ago. Not eating or drinking much and sleeping all day, extremely fatigued and barely able to care for themselves. We are checking in with them at a distance as best we can. Totally helpless feeling and very very worried.

We got a wartime president? Looking forward to his visit to the frontlines, you know - ta support the troops, at Elmhurst NY hospital. Where I hope he can find a used mask to wear and a glad bag (triple-ply, wide girth 55 gal) to insure his utmost personal safe-tee . . . . . wood shure hate to see him get the Co-Vidd.

Thanks for reminding me of this good tune . . . "She's Leaving Me, Because She Really Wants To" (Lyle Lovett & Emmylou)

Cossatot has some of the best whitewater runs in the midwest. Never been, but it looks beautiful. Somewhere in the archives here I have some pictures of runs made down Frog Bayou, Mulberry, Upper Buffalo, and Big Piney in ARK . . . all in high water and in my Old Town 158 which had to be emptied multiple times. Love that country down there.

Hawaii has smallmouth?

Nice pictures, Ness.

Yeah, that thing was a BEAUT! I've been to Niagara Falls probably 7 or 8 times since my home office is in 10 minutes away, but nowhere near as spectacular as Gullfoss. Definitely want to go back to Iceland and explore more.

Very familiar with that last creek too.

Or Cardiac arrest (or just downstream)🤣

Well there you have it. The browns don't have good habitat. What I've been saying, among other factors: eagles, otters, pressure, poaching. And of course the rainbows are thriving . . . every time the spring branch gets a minor flood, which is pretty often . . . quite a few rainbows get washed out of the park. And from Springrise too. Thriving is probably too strong of a word though. Wash-outs.

Maybe the "stick to outboard motors" comes across a bit condescending. But I think Wrench can hold his own. I should probably stick to selling ink for all the knowledge I profess to have. 🤣

Oh, come on. It was kinda funny. I think the Trump part may have touched a nerve with some of y'all.🤣 It may be that the stocking methods are different, and the brown trout strain that they are using is different than years ago. Yeah, I wish the Red Ribbon area could be a Blue Ribbon area, but I'm realistic knowing that MDC has a difficult challenge of trying to please everybody. Not everyone wants a Blue Ribbon section --- whether its jet-boaters, or meat-hunters, heck even poachers have a vote.
