  1. Looks like a Hawg Jaw, made by Don Williams out of Cape Fair.
  2. I hear you loud and clear!, I was a professional baseball player and loved to play the game until about my second year of pro ball and then it bacame work!!
  3. We are told here in Emerald Beach that we can't restrict anybody from using our two ramps and parking as they are on Crop property. It's our understanding you must allow public access.
  4. What do you want for it?I have a real good 26 Raker I'd like to unload! and a 4 blade 24p 13 3/4" Michigan Wheel to get rid of.
  5. You got it right Champ. I think those engines are rated 5200 to 6000 and if you lug them down you will eventually kill the motor. I have a 90 390v Ranger with a 89 200 Johnson and it will turn 5600 rpms at 64mph turning a 24 Raker with an excellent hole shot. The only draw back is the mid range is not equal to mph/rpm ( like 35mph/4000rpm ). I have been told the older original Mercury Trophy 23p x 14 1/4" prop is the optimum prop for those motors, but hard to find!. They not only give bow lift, but lifts the rear as well.
  6. Sight fishing for nesting fish!!!
  7. As I recall the boat I saw was on the upstream side of that back bone point of Carter, working the bluff end. I still think you and Skunkworks have got it figured out, I would hate to go one on one with either one of you right now or should I say Skunk's Wife!! and his purple head fb jig.
  8. Hey Quill I think I saw you today around Carter, I least it was a black/silver Phoenix with one person in it. I had a total of 4 hits on Arig and no fish. My partner was throwing 5" tube and caught 5 with one that would go about 3 1/2. I was throwing a 3" tube on a 3/8 jig and never got a bite. I also threw jerk and not a thing. We targeted a lot of brush piles from Emerald Beach to Rock Creek and not a thing!. 51° up in Rock Creek, most of the other water we found at about 44 to 47°. I was riding shotgun today and I guess I just didn't have the touch, I saw that 6 of Alex's I didn't want to give up on the Rig. I would say you had a pretty decent day considering what we experienced.
  9. This really difficult to understand. My wife's folks built a cabin there on Melton's Peninsula in the early 60's and we were really familiar with that area and to me if you were on the South side you would run aground on the flat going out and the bridge going up and on the North side you would be practically on the bluff.
  10. IT would sure be worth a try. Those covers for my boat from Ranger were a perfect match for the originals, padded, pleated and looked just exactly like the original covers. They made my old Ranger look so good I decided to keep it as it looked brand new and I couldn't justify parting with it.
  11. Was there any muddy (" track a coon" ) water around sweetwater? If it's muddy enough that might get me out of my chair.
  12. Ranger will most probably have the covers for all your seats and they will need the serial # of your boat and that will tell them the original colors and fit for that particular boat. They had a cover for my 90 390V in stock and it was a wide bench seat and I recall back on 06 it was less than $175 and I paid a local $100 to put it on. I think the butt seat was $75 for complete seat.
  13. We took off from Emerald Beach at 10:30 and we were mainly marking brush pile waypoints and routes for a new Lowrance. We did some cursory fishing in between and ended up in Roaring River. We threw the rig mostly and only picked up two short LM's and back in RR on a short steep 45° rocky bank caught 4 keeper LM 's on jerk bait all within about 25 yrd's. They were all in 8' to 10' of water. The temp gage was reading 47.3. It appeared to be a warmer belt of water in that area as it got colder as we went on up. The bite came on a long dead pause (20 sec's. or better) and some hit quite sharp, but very lethargic on the reel in. We were back at the dock at 4:00.
  14. Mark I love this story and the pictures. How on earth did you learn of this place. That would be a great place for our Son to take our Grandson for the day. How much does it cost for a day? I going to tell our Son about this place, as his Inlaws live in Gulf Shores and they live in Mobile and that's on their way and also they have some relatives in Bay Minette.
  15. Drop in and have Breakfast or Lunch with our Son, he's the mgr. of the Cracker Barrel on So. Schindler. He says it's been pretty rough on them down there this year. Have a fun and safe trip.
  16. Man Champ!, I thought you were in John Brumett camp**##
  17. QB, I saw a single in a white and black trim with a opti on it and it was heading toward Big M at around 3: from downstream. It had marking like a Intro or alike. Was that you?. I have noticed how consistent you are with the tube rig. It looks to me like you could limit every time out, just according to how much time you put in out there. I am certainly impressed with your techniques and prowess, especially when us locals around here aren't even going out because of weather and wind. My compliments sir!
  18. You mentioned the coal pile at Pendleton, when I lived down there a guy in our Club had 10, 10's # out of the coal pile. He was from McGehee.
  19. I was in Bass Pro this week and was talking to a guy who was Rayo's cousin and he told me ESPN was running a documentary on him this Sunday. Just wonder if any of your Arkansas Boys remember him and would be interested. He was really quite a guy.
  20. I wonder how old a Crappie that size is and how long they live in large impoundments like Table Rock. MDC told me Large Mouth Bass live only about 10 yrs. and that would encompass anything 8# and up. I was asking about a friend of mine keep 6 and 7 # bass and eating them and I was told it would be better to harvest them and and let the smaller keeper go back as they are much better and prolific spawner's, as they said those larger bass are only going to live a few more years anyway and up to 10 yrs. at the max. Anybody got any ideas on this. I personally don't keep anything other than Whites and larger Crappie.
  21. I hope you got a good buy on that and one of those gar don't get ahold of it as they don't look exactly gar proof!. It will be a month or so before you can break all that lce. Is is snowing up there now??
  22. I'll say this Plug you got it right on strength. Their mono is made by Shakespeare and that's some of the toughest stuff you can buy. I fished their 17# at night for years and if you ever got hung up and the hook wouldn't straighten out you had to cut the line as you couldn't break it. It has a lot of memory and stretch other than that it some formidable stuff.
  23. Actually I meant to say a double Duncan Knot that looks like a Double Uni-Knot. I need a better proof reader I guess.
  24. The best knot I've found is a double uni knot. On braid and fluorocarbon I wrap it 8 times rather than 6 on mono. You double it through the eye and it has the appearance of a hangman's noose with the loop and tag end coming out at the end ( 3 cut ends ) up the line. My experience has prov-en it will never break at the tie and it is definitely the strongest knot out there.
