  1. I tried a sample they gave out at the boat show. On my older motor, an 88, and it was too good and started taking off paint. Granted the paint was already oxidized but it was better on the paint than the deposits.
  2. I'm not sure you want them, I fished it last year and this week I must have received 10 messages telling me I need to hurry up and enter.

    What's Cooking?

Leftover Corned Beef tonight, with Irish Soda Bread, and I must say Becky is proud of the bread which is delicious.
  4. Nothing to do with fishing derbys, but consider fishing a river or stream. Say you're on a 2 day float. You are forced to fish the conditions, muddy or clear, and all you can do is concentrate on the patterns. I fish lakes much the same way and may spend hours on a stretch of bank. I'm guilty of not moving around enough, but I'm usually not fishing for a big bag, but rather a big fish.

    What's Cooking?

We had traditional Soda Bread with the Corned Beef. Probably my first time and I thought it was delicious, ate more bread than Corned Beef.
  6. Looking good in the upper Niangua
  7. Does this mean we can sue Ameren for the flood damages in2015?
  8. Agreed, appears to be Missouri - Georgia at 2:30
  9. Check Maumee South, Last time I was there it was free open camping, primitive with just an outhouse.
  10. Stealing fishing tackle and equipment should be mandatory capital punishment.
  11. Well, that makes it simple, I was pulling the tag end thru and then clipping. Thanks
  12. I've been doing my work in a 50 to 60 degree garage. I have to leave the epoxy (Pro Coat) dryer motor run about 24 hours but its been working out alright. Sometimes I will use a work light to try to get some heat, moving it from wrap to wrap occasionally. We still need more details from Al, as to how he hides those thread nubs.
  13. 1/8 underspin jig with a 3.8, 1/4 if it's windy or very deep.
  14. I always have trouble with nubs where I pull the thread thru. Take an emery board and sand it smooth, then recoat. The second coat will cover the sanding marks and all will be good. I do think though, that it's function over form and if it fishes good who cares about the dribbles.
  15. Pulled my build off the drying rack this morning. Can't wait to make a few casts, although I almost enjoy building the rods as much as using them. Pardon the cluttered work area, when we moved I had to put a whole basement worth of goodies into a 1 car garage and a 8 x 20 shed.
  16. I'm considering attending as the plans I thought were that Sat. are this Sat. Anyway, would need a open campground or cheap hotel, any recommendations?
  17. At what age is a license not required? I think it's 65 which would make it my last year also.
  18. We used to stay in Rockaway often. There's a bunch of places, I think Duck Harbor is the one we used. Very reasonable, I think like $50 per night.
  19. I see there was about a 6' rise on the Niangua at Macks Creek, and the lake has muddied here at HaHa Tonka. A decent amount of current also. Conditions will be changing fast now, I hope for the better. Good luck with the Tourney.
  20. I'm working with the Rainforest Revolution blank, supposed to be the new improved. I don't know how you really can know the finished action of a home built rod till it's built and tested. It's not like pulling one off the rack. But I'm building for light crankbaits so a slow parabolic action probably won't hurt. I'm kinda slow too so maybe the rod will fit.
  21. I just built a Rod on one of those blanks. I like it. I'm now trying my first quality build on a Rain Shadow blank with some better components. It's an addicting hobby once you get into it. I need more rods like a hole in the head, but I just can't help myself.
  22. Someone mentioned it could be a function of over population. I'm inclined to agree. When the Lemming population maxes out they have a mass suicide by running -jumping into the sea, is this a similar instinct? Is population the main cause of war and aggression in general?
  23. Go Tigers, a real nice string of wins. Not very confident but looking forward to the remainder of the season.
  24. All clear on the Niangua. Saw several boats out today.
  25. I believe it's a sign of active fish and shad. Follow the birds and find the fish. I don't care if the location shows on the picture properties. Come and catch em. ( Fish, not Pelicans)
