  1. The lake has reached (or very nearly reached the levels of Xmas 2011 so far.
  2. I live down DD across from Indian Point Marina... We've had almost 5" (about 4.75 so far) of rain from 9am Saturday morning to 8pm. And it is still coming down. That's not counting the 2 1/4" that fell overnight. So the Little Rock guy was way off.
  3. That's gonna be really costly for the Tyson folks and Kimberling City. Anyone have a link to an Official statement from the COE? Their website says nothing about it at all.
  4. It's going to be a tough weekend for all the Tyson guys. The lake is 6 feet higher (and probably more by saturday), than it was a week ago. So those spawning beds are 6+ feet deeper. Not top mention rain forecast for the weekend.
  5. I always thought the females (and males to some extent) stop feeding just before the spawn, and don't feed again until well after.
  6. Some states (NE and MO too if I recall), require the fish to be weighed on a "certified" scale. Your weighing device on the boat doesn't count, so you usually have to take the fish somewhere. Unless you are prepared (as this guy appeared to be), the fish is often going to die before you can reach said scale. Some states also require a Game and Parks official to certify it as well. Nebraska has had several "potential" record fish released because the fisherman didn't want to risk killing the fish just to get it certified. They preferred to release it in hopes of it being caught again.
  7. Here across from Indian Point it poured down hard, but not for very long
  8. LOL! "Don't do that"
  9. Several places, but not sure if they are open Sundays, Ozark Marine just south of OO off James River rd, and the new tackle shop IN Kimberling City. Unfortunately Extreme Outdoors next to Ulrich Marine is closed Sundays.
  10. Excellent post, and very helpful to a noob like myself. Grew up in eastern Nebraska, and learning to fish TR is a completely new experience. In NE, when they say they are catching fish shallow, it means under 10'. Usually under 6'. Here on TR, shallow is 30' which is about the max depth at most eastern NE reservoirs. Plus, NE lakes are mud/clay bottoms with vegetation. Here it is rock and timber. Quite a difference and challenge for someone new to it.
  11. I'm sure all the locals know, but for those that don't, RT's restaurant in Kimberling City has quite a few 1957 pre-lake photos in the case and on the walls, including a pic of the old bridge taken by sonar. Interesting to browse those while waiting to eat.
  12. When was this kill? Because people were (and have been) catching fish a lot deeper than 20 feet.
  13. It may not prevent attempts, but the quicker you alert the bank, the better chances of getting it resolved in your favor.
  14. yeah, Rusty crayfish have large rust-colored splotches
  15. Nice deer! Saw them on the NEFGA forum as well.

that's also good for prevention of zebra mussel transfer
  17. Looks like a typical fall fungal infection. Fairly common.
  18. Found a very brief report on the KY3 website. That's pretty much all it said.... that his body was found near Indian Point Friday afternoon. No other information.
  19. link?
  20. And catch a fish. While the rest of us would catch a beer can.
  21. 2nd death this year of being ejected with no PFD . All 3 deaths on TR this year were with no PFD worn (third being the youth who drowned while swimming).
  22. Wiggle Wart hooks.... no problems. Flicker Shads on the other hand... they tend to get bent up when removed, especially if they get hooked in deep in the jaw.
  23. Was the cat on a flicker shad? I've wrecked a number of flicker shad trebles removing them from a variety of fish. Not the greatest hook quality, IMO.
  24. On a similar topic, I've heard that TR has rare freshwater jellyfish. Has anyone ever seen one? Or are they something really deep in the depths that only divers are likely to ever see?
  25. Yeah, there are quite a few dealers along 13 and 76 north and south of Branson West. Probably the best bet is to call and get estimates or at least a general idea.
