Now I wish that I could make it. -
Most of the areas that I see deer or turkey are on leased properties. We do have permission from our landlord to hunt a small section (1/2 to 1 acre) of our backyard and do have deer coming through. So may get one ore more bow killed deer this year.

I agree with this statement. I'm having trouble finding public blocks of land here in Maryland that are more than 100-200 acres. That is just not enough land to have more than a hand full of deer hunters using it at the same time. PA has a lot of public land, but a lot of the game lands are transition areas only like the side of a steep ridge. Nothing to keep deer in those areas. So you see little game. MO has some of the best public land hunting that I have encountered but have not been to many western states.

I like to bake them with onions, lemon slices and dill. Really used to enjoy 15 to 18" brown trout that had been in the river for a while. They would have the orange colored flesh. Those I would stuff with dill, basil, bread cubes, sauted bacon and onions. Maybe add some minced shrimp. Then bake. Since I no longer keep brown trout, my daughter hates picking bones, and am only likely to keep stocker rainbows, I tend to fry them. I mix a half and half mix of regular and panko bread crumbs. Then dried basil, oregano, thyme, garlic powder, salt and pepper, then parmesan cheese. Dredge filets in seasoned flour, then egg wash, then into the bread crumbs. Fry at 375 until golden brown. Would make a fried boot taste good😁.

Heading down tuesday anyone been lately?
Johnsfolly replied to trythisonemv's topic in Bennett Springs State Park
Congrats on some nice fish with the kids! -
Sounds more like a chore than a celebration 😂. Unless you have a good group of scouts. Have a good time. You staying in state or travelling for camp?

Congrats Phil on a great rainbow! Also thanks for putting on a clinic on the effectiveness of back reeling to apply constant pressure on a big fish! Been trying to teach my daughter how to use back reeling instead of just relying on the drag. Will show her this video. Congrats again.

Happy dad's day Dan! Can't wait to see what you catch with that reel. Here's my son's father's day gift. Made me a Grandpa😁! Happy father's day to all you OAF Dads! Tight lines!

Very nice! Congrats on your walleye catching😁.

Good luck. Waiting to see some dad hero photos😁! -
@JestersHK we hardly ever see any daytime fishing photos so not sure when you actually do get out during the day😁. I also hope the you figure out your hat, screem, buff, etc. You have got to stop posting these close-up photos😂! Seriously we're thinking about you and hope that you get positive news!

Sounds like a great trip QB. I did mention to Ham not to give you too hard of a time for last night's game. I did see a couple of nice redear photos. So can't wait for Ham to post some more. Nice little toothy guy and cat.

Just Stupid fishing - Maryland Multispecies
Johnsfolly replied to Johnsfolly's topic in U.S.A. - North & East Regions
I am assuming that you meant flier sunfish. The Maryland Biodiversity project goes out and samples for all species (flora and fauna) across the state. The database states that fliers are rare across the state but locally common. I haven't caught one either. So may have to find a lake or pond or two that may have a good population. Maybe a next year deal. Focused this year on warmouth and the banded and/or spotted sunfish species, here and in the Midwest. -
Thanks QB! At least you still have the Patriots and Red Sox wins to carry through the football and baseball seasons.
-
Great to see the Blues with the cup! Refs looked to have swallowed their whistles with I think was only one penalty called. That helped the Blues greatly since they were vulnerable to the Bruins power play. Congrats again!

Upcoming TR for this weekend 5/30-6/2

Look great buddy! Would love to fish those again on Taney out of the Doty boat😁. -
Saturday I took my wife and daughter out to Delaware to surf fish. It was fairly windy and there was a chop on the water. The waves made it difficult to tell if we were getting bites. We fished high lo rigs. One with bloodworms and the other with sand fleas. Only caught one fish during a couple hours of fishing. I thought that I had hooked a plastic bag. Not too far off when I landed a striped burrfish. A relative of the puffers. @Ham thought that it looked like grumpy cat . We decided to head to the Ocean City inlet pier to try and catch some fish with the high tide. Livie down sized her hook and bottom fished near the pier pilings. She had the fun of catching over 35 tiny to small sea bass. Her catch of the day was this striped searobin. This was her 70th species on her lifelist .

Just Stupid fishing - Maryland Multispecies
Johnsfolly replied to Johnsfolly's topic in U.S.A. - North & East Regions
Lots of both. I have only caught one of each this year. Hard to get a great photo of an eel that keep trying to tie itself in a knot to get off the line. Only a small pickerel so far. I did catch this on a white/chartreuse trout magnet jig . -
