  1. Congrats @Jighogthose are some nice trout!
  2. Nice smallies Jeff! Sounds like a fun trip.
  3. Every year the same tired arguments. Don't worry they will always dump more dumb stockers for you to catch in the park and the Niangua than they ever will in the urban program.
  4. I love to catch any fish. In Feb driving a few miles to catch active fish was a lot easier than making a bunch of 280-300 mile round trips to catch trout. Still did a few long trips to chase browns every year. Also I would take my daughter on those local trips when she was too small to wade the faster water that I would fish for brown trout.
  5. @Quillback We have seen them several times right around Branson. Weird seeing one "running" across Rt 65 late at night.
  6. Thanks Daryk. I have only fished nine of the urban ponds/lakes. I did fish three in one day once 😉. Usually I would only fish until we had our four fish limits. Even so I caught 65 trout from the pond in Columbia over the years. Saved me hundreds of miles in travel to fish the Current.
  7. I've haddock with these puns😉😆
  8. I think that 275 trout in a 5-6 acre pond is pretty good stocking rate. The last two lakes I fished out this way had 700 fish stocked in 32 to 46 acre lakes. I will say that last spring I fished a 3 acre pond that they stocked 500 trout. I haven't trout fished in IL. My only trout in OH was from the Mad river.
  9. Congrats Dave! I've only caught smallish hybrids. Can only imagine how fun a big one would be.

  11. @pstone congrats on some nice bass!
  12. I saw that article. I really want to catch a wels catfish. I don't care if it is only a small one.
  13. Kids these days... Am I right?😆

    What's Cooking?

One benefit of living in MD is getting to eat oysters from up and down the coast. Local places would offer flights of several oysters collected from different locations. Pretty amazing the differences in the taste.
  16. I love fall turkey hunting. Maryland has a one week season and only in the three western most counties. I hunted them last year but fished more than hunted. No turkeys. Only saw a couple of squirrels and they were only on private land😒. Maybe if I stayed out that way I could get on some birds. Hard to put in four hours on drive time each way and a good time hunting. So I fished and did a little calling. If I got a response or heard birds I would get after them.
  17. Nice job Marty!
  18. Now we know why it's called a sleeper hold😆🤔

It wasn't that long ago that we got rid of our box graters😉

    What's Cooking?

Kept a couple trout from my recent trips to western Maryland. Made a crispy Asian trout dish. Served with cauliflower.
  21. You're getting there buddy! You know that plains topminnow spot is much closer to you than going for the common shiners around Columbia. I have only caught 73 different species for the year so far and I am not trying for fly caught fish. Not sure I will break 100. As I get closer and the year winds down, I may push for more common species, e.g., carp, brown trout, creek chub, Delmarva sculpin, rosyside shiners, tessellated darters, etc., that I haven't targeted this year since I have been pushing the lifer list targets. I haven't even caught a tautog or a striped bass yet this year🙄.
