  1. Would love to fish with you Sat morning.
  2. See Wrench you guys are way above average !
  3. Confirmed Friday morning/early afternoon; no boat; looking to bring mushrooms, batter for frying on Friday night. I have limited options for cooking here in Columbia, but I can also bring plastic utensils, paper plates, paper towels
  4. Here's one that has that in the running for most pointless - 52% of all accidents happen in the home.
  5. Good Luck guys. Going to miss seeing all of you and eating that smoked cheddar @WoundedOne
  6. Certainly is with all those hearts you guys eat ! At least from the deer that you shoot and not Pat's !
  7. I second that!
  8. Here's what the Kansas Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism folks have on website: Elk were another big game species that were common in pre-settlement Kansas. They were also extirpated at the turn of the century. However, a small herd was maintained at the Maxwell Wildlife Area near McPherson. The 2,200-acre enclosure is operated as a refuge and also features bison. In 1981, elk from Maxwell were released at the Cimarron National Grassland, and that herd was free-ranging. To keep that herd from growing too big and causing crop damage, a limited resident-only season was opened in 1987. Later in the 1980s, elk were captured at Maxwell and released on the Ft. Riley Military Reservation. That herd is also free-ranging, and a season was established for the fort in 1990. Today, elk are primarily hunted on and around Ft. Riley, but individual elk or small herds may be found at other locations around the state, and hunting is permitted everywhere except Morton County. About 900 applications are received for the 20 or so permits allotted each year, and they are divided among military personnel and Kansas residents.
  9. I'm in for Taney. Meeting at Phil's? I still would be headed down on Friday morning. Hopefully someone has a seat open for Friday afternoon. Not sure that I can make a Feb appearance but will consider when we start with dates. Certainly not around Valentines😌.
  10. Dan Congrats to your son! Pretty intense. Did you two use dogs as well to bay the hog?
  11. I have no issue fishing good water in bad weather. Just don't like fishing bad water in bad weather. Especially if there are options.
  12. He sent me photos😁.
  13. Hearing from folks in the know that the river is running trashy. Some suggest that with the trashy water and crappie weather in the forecast a postponement until Feb should be considered. I don't know if I would be able to make a trip in Feb. But I also don't want to be sitting in the lodge due to snow and ice watching crap water going by and not being able to catch some fish either. If I am going to drive four plus hours one way and not catch fish I should just go to Crane creek😂. Thoughts?
  14. Hey that's my rental car for this week 😢.
  15. I went from a 8 mile commute in Columbia to a 16 mile commute in Maryland. But you know me, willing to drive 8 to 9 hours round trip to fish for four hours and catch one fish ! When I set my mind to catch a trout in every designated trout stream and trout park in Missouri (and ribbon section, e.g., fished both blue and white sections to count; did not include the urban lakes, but have caught trout in 6 so far ), I stopped tracking miles when I got over 2000. At that time I still had to catch a trout below Fall Creek in Taneycomo and the Blue and Red Ribbon sections of the North fork of the White. Both of those became family trips. Oh and DJ you still are a youngster !
  16. @Ham Nixed the sculpin (haven't the time to catch any either. Likely working until I get to leave Friday morning). So I will still focus on bringing the mushrooms for Sat. Going out tonight to see what I can find in terms of variety.
  17. Looks like a great fish fry @Blazerman!
  18. very nice elk. Can't wait to see MO have a draw hunt down at Peck Ranch.
  19. Really need to hear from the guys bringing the boats. You guys are the ones that are going to have issues with the predicted weather conditions.
  20. They sure look like a mound of grass. Folks in MD like to set up semi-permanent blinds. Most of the time they are right in the middle of the field. Even the corn fields get leveled out after harvest so thatthere isn't much standing stubble.
  21. Jeff I'm still planning on the drive down Friday. Biggest concern that would stop me from going is if the cost per person goes much above $160. I know that depends upon those that commit to going. Do you have a total number of folks to keep the cost at $150 or below?
  22. Marty congrats on your hunts. Did you have the layouts setup before today?
  23. Nice brown! Love those fall colors. Still hope to see on Sat if you are able to make it the lodge.
  24. We have been getting rain this week. Currently quite a bit of fog. Sitting at the airport heading back to MO. Hope that the road conditions on Friday don't prevent or delay getting down to Buford. Still have to make it through a half week of work first.
  25. Nice looking bass. Congrats!
