  1. Probably the right idea πŸ˜‰! All these photoless posts are really depressing. How am I to live vicariously through you guys when there aren't any photos🀣
  2. Nothing says end of the holidays like a little dark humor πŸ˜…
  3. Congrats @FishnDave! No koi for me this year. Will target them again around here in 2022. I know where to go if I head west as well πŸ˜‰.

    What's Cooking?

Xmas dinner - Glazed ham, green bean casserole, and au gratin potatoes.
  5. I guess that if I looked out the back window and saw that piebald buck again. I might consider nekid crossbow hunting πŸ˜‰!
  6. Islmorada charter back in 1999 with a buddy after we watched the first indycar race in Homestead FL - Fish Tales blackfin tuna dolphin on the board (all made for some good eats!)
  7. Some old photos that I recently got into a digital format. Jupiter FL - Lived there for 6 years. Lost our fishing boat option when their daughter had a falling out with my wife πŸ˜’. Gag grouper and a couple of false albacore (bonitos). Still my largest fish ever - wahoo on a live greenie.
  8. I would but just don't see a scenario that it would be necessary. Knew a guy in PA that shot his biggest buck and a black bear while nature called with his pants down around his ankles. I call that crappy luck 🀣
  9. Looked like you had a great time! Always great to be able to get time with family. Can't wait to see that young man holding his own fish.
  10. While we indulge in great food and beverage let's make sure to be safety prepared for the worse.

    What's Cooking?

No big meal tonight, just meats and variety of cheeses. Duck prosciutto was a favorite but was really only good by itself. The spicy Delaware fireball went well with the one raw cow milk cheese, cracker and peach jam. The elk sagebrush salami was good as well as the sweet coppa ham.
  13. Thought of you @ness. Didn't buy any Bologna just Applewood smoked bacon.
  14. Follow the science 😁
  15. But Rick it's a catfish recipe πŸ€”!
  16. My buddy caught a MO species A few years ago from the Osage as we were sucker fishing.
  17. That's a mess of crappie. Congrats!
  18. So right now I have a dollar tree, McDonald's, and Adobe/CDW ads. Since I buy shirts and clothes online for wife and kids I will get some women's underwear ads occasionally. We bought Livie a Toadfish spinning rod and cup. Both my wife and I got their ads for weeks.
  19. Lebanon bologna comes in a regular and a sweet variety. It's a smoky bologna. Lebanon refers to the town or area in PA where they started making it. Not sure if it is Amish originally. We have some in or fridge right nowπŸ˜‰. Picked it up from our local Amish market.
  20. Mosquitofish are very close relatives to guppies. I have downloaded this guy's article to read later. I can't upload here since it's a pdf πŸ˜’ There used to be and probabaly still are two scientific camps - basic science and applied science. Basic science is based upon the idea that you pursue science to contribute to the greater wealth of knowledge. So you run studies just to generate novel data. Applied science is where you use scientific methods to address issues like how to handle invasive species, etc. Since it still is science, not every project will "cure cancer" or like this project may not be scalable to be a practical approach to dealing with the issue that the work was focusing upon. This work is ususally frowned upon by those folks that perform basic science.

    What's Cooking?

Nice RPS! Crabs were scarce for us this year. Not much love from our regular trapping spot. So we did more fishing than crabbing.
  22. It's a mud puppy not a hushpuppy 🀣!
  23. All you have to do is write a grant to study issues that could help with invasive species and you're likely to get the funding needed for the work.
