@MickinMO sounds like a great time even if it was a bit slow on the fishing. Scenery looks fantastic. Can't beat landing a bigger fish on that light line. Must have been an exciting fight.

Just terrible news. Was it an animal rights issue gone too far? Or someone using that property for illegal purposes? Will we ever know?
They may get close to the spring later this fall to breed and remain after breeding is over. I haven't fished that creek during those times to say for certain that occurs. Ethics of catching fish off of a redd might come into play then.
Agreed!
I like most Eastwood movies, but favorite is The Outlaw Josey Wales, then the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. I also like Absolute Power.
Space Cowboys is a guilty pleasure movie 😉. Love Donald Sutherland's line "I may be blind Fank but there is nothing wrong with my memory!"
Congrats @Ham! You seem to be doing really well this year in getting those suckers to bite.
Having trouble getting Livie on variety the last couple of trips. She killed it on catching bunches of baby tog in NJ but no new annual or lifelist fish. I personally have not been catching much of any fish that are new for the year. Last one was a small southern kingfish. No lifers either 😒.
I subscribe to Skinner's YouTube channel. He puts out a lot of great educational content. He could have just ran the camera and caught fish without having to discuss how he gets the fish active, waits for hook sets, etc while having great video documentation of the fishing. I can't wait to see him use that camera back down in FL for future videos.
You keep rubbing that in 🙄! With work I can get out maybe once per week. Still glad that you got out and caught a few. Living vicariously through your posts Jeff!
@Jthawks congrats on a few pretty streambred rainbows! I haven't been to Mill creek in a long time, probably too long. The water looks fantastic, but that clarity definitely adds to the challenge of your presentation vs spooking the fish. Great Job!
They do. They are such a hit or miss species. There are likely folks out there that can consistently catch them, but for us they seem to be pretty hit or miss. I'm actually more inpressed on how much we like the puffers, which are much more common. They are going to be a more targeted species when we want fresh fish.
We didn't measure it but I would estimate around 13 to 14 inches in length. In NJ they are not a regulated species and do not have size limits. They are an excellent tasting fish.
He's a pretty good guy as well. I am unhappy to not be able to attend the event myself. I have a surrogate travelling from her home in Warrensburg to hopefully pick me up his "Hook, Line, and Supper" cookbook 😁 and get a taco or two for herself.
I must have been thinking about your fish in MO list for the brown trout. Blue cat would be a cool flyfishing catch. Might be opportunities below Bagnell if there is rain and they are flowing water. My buddy catched a few large fish during those conditions. Would need a boat though.
Happy Birthday @ness. I hope that our resident curious cook and fly angler has a great day. You will have to post what @ness'lady and yourself had for dinner 😉!
If you have no plans there is a Hank Shaw book tour event in KC (Yoli Tortilleria) where he will be serving seafood and game tacos at 5:30 tonight.
Hope that you have a great day!
Son - "Dad what's in the fancy beer stein on the mantle."
Dad - "Those are the remains if your uncle Frank. That was his favorite beer stein. He always wanted his remains put in that stein. He said that it would be hilarious. I never understood why he thought that would be so funny."
Son - "Maybe it's so that he could be Frank in Stein!"
Dad - "That Son of a gun!" 🤣🤣
