  1. Why not stay at Ruark? The west side "ramp side" is the friendly side, while east side "swim beach" is more party side.
  2. Im with ya on that. The drag doesnt compare to the newer low profile designs, but what they made em' right with the rounds.
  3. It was a Ranger. He told me he was supposed to deliver 1000 baits to someone that day, so my guess is he was headed to Papi's to get the baits and head out.
  4. Good to hear ya got out Daryk. Yes that looks like a crappie to me also. The thinness of the mouth skin, and coloring. Those turtles are all over. I seen over 15 on a laydown log this weekend. They make alot of racket when they all slide off at the same time.
  5. i worked a similiar situation on that dam a few years back. It was 2 guys that went over in an older glass boat which broke in half after it went over. With the ramp so close to the dam, and with water flowing as swift as it does at times, makes that a bad area for boat motor issues. Being on a tube with water moving in that area isnt the smartest idea.
  6. You the man Jo
  7. You are correct. My comment wasnt stating that if you didnt believe in christ, or didnt go to church, then you were a drunk, thief, liar, etc. I was saying, that if you go to church, then get drunk, smoke wacky weed, etc. between sundays, then your no closer to god than those that dont believe.
  8. Yep those buggars fight. I catch several every time i fish Stockton. Kids love catching then.
  9. Wrench, trust me when i say....... Its easier not to believe in christ, than to believe. If you are a true follower, it is a lifestyle, and not something you do on sundays. So for those that get drunk during the week, smoke whatever you smoke, are dishonest, then thats the easy way to live. Following christ is a difficult choice until you truly wrap your soul around it. Im not going to tell you whats best for you. Only you know that, but dont think that those that follow christ do it because its easy. Its actually the opposite.
  10. if you have a boat, work points and shoreline between points in 6 to 15' of water with a dark colored worm. C-Rig or a pegged Texas Rig will get ya bit.
  11. Good to meet you also 5. I did the same as you. Ran to the dam area. Started with Ned. Caught a few short smallies and big drum. Deep crank on points. Spinner bait in brush. Nothing. With an hour left, made it back to the Ruark area and hit points with a C-Rig worm and started catching fish. Lost 2 good fish. Lesson learned Yes lots of thoughts of Jim today.
  12. Its out of Ruark
  13. Like some of you, I got to know Jim in person and on this forum. As i just re-read our PM's from this week, it puts a heavy load on my heart knowing in 7 hours we were going to meet up at the lake for me to buy a rod off of him. Jim was a great guy that willingly helped those around him. He will be missed and thought of often, especially when i use the jigs he gave me. On a side note, the report says he ran off the road, hit an embankment, over turned, and was ejected. This was on Hwy 174, 7 miles east of Mt Vernon at 3:00am. Rest in peace brother Jim.
  14. More places for the fish D. We have a tourney at Stockton at 6:30 in the morning. Fish will be in the brush with cool water pouring in and high water. Spinnerbait time.
  15. This is my bet.
  16. Is Grand that good that it ranked 13?
  17. Or 2. Lots of catfish bait laying there
  18. We have Verizon and do pretty well on most areas.
  19. Fish tacos. Appears they did a pretty good job at taking most of the meat. Cant agree with the discarding decision tho.
  20. Looks like shes ready to snatch a fish. Blue Heron has nothing on this brown coat.
  21. Beautiful fish and country.
  22. It a pretty easy task. Take it to your local Highway Patrol station and they will inspect it, then give you the necessary paperwork to take to the license office. Done it more than once with boats ive bought out if state.
  23. Oh yea, always use the gas motor. I have a 50 HP Yamaha 4 Stroke that is very quiet and sips gas. I can go weeks trolling all day.
