  1. Thanks as always. Great explanations. I look forward to the mark up of my pictures to see what is actually what. I'm determined to learn this part of being a better angler. I can beat the shore with the best of them, but that deep water stuff leaves me puzzled more than not.
  2. Ok J, here ya go.... Fished Long Creek area today. Caught 8 LM and 2 Spots. Still trying to better understand the relation from what im seeing on my graph, and what the fish on there are doing and what lure they may want. On these 3 shots, it looks to me like feeding fish. I motored over this shot, took a picture of the screen for you, then turned around and threw a crank bait over that area, catching a 14" LM on the first cast. question is, how to tell feeding fish from inactive fish just doing a drive over?. Do the arches always mean active fish?. Wish i would have took one of the DI of that area.
  3. So were not supposed to hop, swim, pop, or jig it?. Well there goes all of my secrets for tomorrow
  4. yes i am. I have one for sale on this site also if your looking.
  5. Good to see it picking up. Love those days when theres more than one bite.
  6. In every profession there are those that go above and beyond to make their client feel like they succedded. And on the other hand, there are those that just want to get the trip over above all.
  7. Notice that sweet sticker Smalls? ?
  8. They are 7" screens. I've kicked the idea of Garmin for over a year, and when Bass Pro had them on sale for 1/2 price. I jumped on it. Only regret is I didn't purchase 2 at that time.
  9. Nice catch Andy.
  10. They had the 73DV " DownVue" on sale also. That's what I'm going with for the front. I will update that software with the same card I use tomorrow for the console unit.
  11. When you get it installed, my suggestion is to register it at the Garmin website. Garmin just came out with new updates for their units, including ours. Th guys I've talked to that have updated the software, has said its night and day over the installed charts. I'm doing mine tomorrow as I don't have a micro SD card handy for the download. It's a free download for us since we purchased the units within the last year.
  12. it came with the new style. At least that's what it says on the box. Heck I wouldn't know the difference.
  13. You haven't been to Walmart in the past few years, huh?
  14. I replied to your PM panfisher
  15. I have the 4 and have hour upon hour of fishing, shooting, hunting video. I need to sit down and figure out how to edit. That seems to be the more difficult part of owning one.
  16. I had that unit installed 2 weeks ago. I have several hours of water time with it, and it seems to be a really nice unit. This picture quality, maps, DV and SV are clear. I'm adding another to the bow, which I should have done at the same time. Yes that $499 is very cheap for a unit of this quality.
  17. Haven't gotten it Daryk
  18. Bring it on. We need something "warm rain water" to get these fish active.
  19. After seeing a few fish feeding yesterday, I too was tempted to throw a top water bait at them. Next trip
  20. Is it the area I'm fishing, but I haven't noticed any of these major shad areas in Long Creek.
  21. Always a grin with your reports.
  22. Thanks for the heads up Smalls. They referred me to Thrifty Carpet on Kansas, which is where they buy it. Got it bought today, and received my extension today that a buddy made out of stainless. Now to glue the carpet down and fish away.
  23. Your gone out of state WAY to much Andy. ^^^^
  24. Good point to bring up for this time of year Bill. I've patrolled the lakes for years and took multiple reports of vehicles being broke into. In those calls, here's what I took from them... Most of the reports come in the winter/early spring. Reason being is that there are few, if any campers in the area, so the thieves know unless they hear a vehicle or boat coming, they are safe to bust the window, rummage thru your stuff, and leave within minutes. Most thieves know that we are outdoorsmen, and carry guns in our vehicles. Those of us that do, rarely remove it from our vehicles and into our boats while on the water. Thousands of firearms are stolen from vehicles at ramps every year. Usually there are fewer people just out for a drive around the ramps at this time of year, so the thieves know they are less likely to be seen or heard. The preferred method usually is a rock thru the window. Nothing I hate more than a thief.
