  1. Thanks for the info Smalls
  2. Will do. Will have 3 this trip instead of 2.
  3. Count me in as well. Still got a spot for ya Daryk as always at my house if you come down early again if you don't mind being thrown in the basement like before.
  4. Nice vid. I wore 3 of those H2O reels out last year pulling cranks. I bought them to use instead of the 7.1 Revos. They were good for awhile before the gear wouldn't go back and forth. Keep em' coming.
  5. Killed many a hundred pheasant with 7 1/2's over a point. Not big on those long guessing shots so wasn't to worried about the shot. I've also used 6's many times on both birds with no issues. Man you guys are giving me the itch.
  6. Those are days a bird hunter never forgets. I've been an avid bird chaser most of my teen and adult life. The days that we not only spot, but get to harvest a few are special. Glad you had a great trip Phil.
  7. I lived in Payson, between Phoenix and Flagstaff for a short time. I hunted quail all over the western and southern part of the state. Lots of birds at every location.
  8. Good score Jesters. I've been an avid bow hunter for over 25 years, hunting over 14 states with my archery equipment. Welcome to the sport and enjoy the peace that archery brings.
  9. Like Wrench said, I would build a simple mod. that would allow you to easily pull the boat, with gear, down to the water. With something like the one I pictured, you can move it forward for easier weight transfer. Good luck Daryk
  10. Heard on the radio that he passed away. Anyone else hear this?
  11. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. Blessed to have good health, safety, wonderful family and friends, food and a roof over our heads.
  12. We normally stay at C.O.E campgrounds unless out of state. Now that they are closed for the season, are there private campgrounds around that are open? Looking to go for a week soon before winter hits. Thanks
  13. Some pretty good names coming In For this event. Looks to be a good format. http://lakeexpo.com/news/lake_news/final-lineup-of-anglers-set-for-missouri-invitational-fish-golf/article_a83abe6e-a1d9-11e6-813e-d79edcce8e6a.html?mode=jqm
  14. Well sald Wal, The reasoning that I've read is that people were messing with their traps on public land, and potentially letting the hogs out of the traps to hunt instead of trapping. Another note they mentioned was that the hog hunters in the areas where traps were present were scaring the hogs to other areas. Is it just blowing smoke full of excuses by the Corp guys, probably. As you stated, BAD idea to take away a guys right to hunt a legal game animal on public lands. The hunter can and will do far more control than the Corp group could ever possibly think of doing.
  15. thats a good fish. Congrats.
  16. Thats a pretty common report lately. The day bite is bound to get better with these cool mornings.
  17. Great jig. Offer local pickup?
  18. Thanks guys, my topwater bait of choice, just to be different and because im to cheap to buy a plopper, is a Rage Tail. Its a soft bait with great action and sound. Heres a picture of it. if your not familiar with it, i would recommend giving it a try. Always glad to share info. This same bait won me 2 club tourneys. I missed 2 fish that knocked it out of the water. The only action was in the shade along the deeper side of the cove.
  19. The after dark picture is the bigger of the catch this evening.
  20. I did something that i rarely do, fish evening into the dark, and throw topwater. Those are 2 things that normally doesnt peak my interest much, but headed down to Aunts Creek after work. Launched at 5:20 as the only truck there. Started out fishing the main point towards the river with the Ned. Had 3 bites and missed them all. Motored to the back of Aunts and started throwing a topwater around timber. From 6:12 when i caught my first fish, to 7:37 when to pulled the boat out, i landed 7 fish with 6 of those being 16" or better, including a 19 1/2" fish. I missed more than i landed. Great evening to be out.
  21. Seen the Ranger boat legend at the weigh in today. Listening to him chatting next to us with a few others he knew, he seemed like a down to earth guy. His wife was there with him. Good to see the old timer out at these events. Looks like fishing was tough for most.
  22. On my 2nd Maxxum and no complaints. Guess if it had assist or self deploy then I wouldn't feel my age while pulling it up.. Great motors tho.
  23. The lake fishing tough is an understatement. I'm gonna say 36 pounds will take it. Yes someone will find fish, but to do it in these conditions for 3 consecutive days will be doubtful in my eyes. Final answer, 36
  24. Thanks Quill. Thats the word i got was tough fishing. I fished twice last week and it was bad. We are camping at Cape this Thur.-Sunday and will try like i always do. I need to get off the bank.
