  1. Lots of good and different viewpoints here. I use a clicker just for fun. I'm a data driven kind of guy I guess, and I like to know how many trout I can catch in a season. My numbers aren't anything to brag about either with some guys on here probably able to top them with a few good weekends, but for our small group it's a friendly little competition, and let's me look back at the end of the year and see how I've done.
  2. Nice Cat! Thanks for sharing.
  3. Man the color on those Browns is awesome!
  4. I run the same thing Ham on my vest. Just a small clicker and everytime I land one to hand for release it gets a click. It does drive some friendly competition between my buddies who have them as well, but really its just there for me so I can track my overall success rates year to year. My total keeps going up so I must be doing something right LOL.
  5. After watching enough of River Monsters, please be safe out there ... Have a few contacts down there I'll ask tomorrow at work, but don't think they are the fishing type.
  6. My goodness! That is amazing. When was the last time there was a 20+ pounder brought in? Hope it makes it.
  7. Saw Clay's response and just wanted to add that you can save some money buying the off brand accessories. I'm sure there are differences in the materials used, but my cuz FMCBrandon bought an accessory pack off amazon for like 20 or 30 bucks which came with all kinds of mounts and a bobber contraption, and they all were well made and mounted right up to the GoPro no problem. The GoPro Bobber thing is like $35 just by itself. Good way to save a few bucks.
  8. Nice vid, and very well put together. Still experimenting with my gopro, but you have a great knack for capturing your shots! Thanks for sharing.
  9. Nice report! Thanks for sharing.
  10. Thanks for the info JDM. Always wondered why some of them have that.
  11. Flysmallie, I'd love to see a separate thread with pics of your setup if you don't mind sharing! Kiddos lost their faithful old Beta after 6 long years of life(had to be some kind of record ) in a flower vase, and I've been wanting to setup another 'real' tank.
  12. I've seen trout marked up like that too, maybe scarring from an injury when he was a fingerling?
  13. Sounds like a good day. Were the fish all fat little stuffed footballs? Any shad left down there since closing of the gates?
  14. That is awesome! Both the fish and the bonus. Nice haul all around.
  15. Nice, Wish we could of made this one... Still working on our other project too!
  16. http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/pages/data/tabular/htm/tabrock.htm Looks like its been up and down. Hope you get some quiet time to get out there and wade. If they follow yesterdays pattern they may shut it down at 1:00PM, but as Phil said you never know...
  17. HAHAHA! Movies a documentary before the events have actually happened... Very rare that someone can pull that off. Wanna go to Starbucks?
  18. Apparently diet sodas can help with water absorption... according to the google that is, but check this out. Both planted on the same day and watered every day. One with Sprite Zero and one with water. Sprite Zero has electrolytes! Its what plants crave! (a line from idiocracy for those that have not seen that movie)
  19. Off to a great start there BH. On a side note, my oldest is doing her science experiment for the year. She's growing plants using different liquids. We are using just basic green beans and some potting soil in a starter cup inside of a red solo cup. One of her cups we are using Sprite Zero and it is sprouting about 3 times as fast and high as the others... Who knew plants would love Sprite Zero I am going to retry the results, but I was amazed at how well and fast they have sprouted.
  20. Dang, just a few days ago we finally get to see bottom now back to open gates. Gotta love spring patterns LOL. On the bright side I bet the fish are going to swell back up again on another dose of shad!
  21. Nice Sheep and Reds! Looks like its starting to heat up down there fishing wise.
  22. So far this year I am at 8 species. Rainbow trout, Brown trout, Bluegill, Long-eared sunfish, Goggle Eye, Drum, Striped Bass, and a itty bitty Large-mouth Bass
  23. Made it down for opening weekend with my cuz fmcbrandon here on the boards. Headed out Friday late afternoon, got down, got setup, and while watching the generation flow at Taneycomo continue to slow down we decided to drive down and hit the trophy area on a gamble at around 10:00PM. Sadly the gamble did not quite pay off It was a hard night of fishing and I only landed one rainbow about 15inches down by the dam. Water was dropping, but still not quite enough to really get out there so we packed up and headed back to Bennett and got in around 4:30am Saturday morning we fished the whistle up at the dam. (who needs sleep right? ) Started out great, but the morning bite was over pretty quickly so we headed down below dam and proceeded to work our way downstream. Was a bit crowded, but nothing obscene in the early hours, but then mid morning hit and it started getting pretty packed. We'd find a spot here and there go in catch a few then move farther down. Picked up a few little browns along the way, and was nice seeing them in there again. Tons of small rainbows from the flood are in there along with chub shad, and goggle eye are in great abundance too. Saw a guy catch a smallmouth too under the bridge. Around 11ish we were down where the outlet empties out in zone 2. We got a good spot and went to work, and Brandon landed a really nice rainbow over 20inches, close to 24 but I'll let the pics do the talking! I'm sure he'll be along to post pics but it was a beautiful big male that he finally got in on his 2lb maxima. After a few quick pics we got him back in the water and he was on his way to fight another day! After a few more catches we worked down to the whistle bridge, picked up a few more stockers, and then headed out for lunch. After lunch we hit up zone one and my normal spots were either crowded, or we did not see hardly any fish holding in them like last year. I had heard some rumors about all the fish being in zone 2 and turns out there was some truth to that. There were fish there, but not like they were stacked up in 2. We headed back to zone 2 and hit up the deeper runs before the bluff wall and started catching them pretty consistently. Noticed a few areas that were once pretty shallow have a deeper channel now carved out of them from the floods. The rocks were also slick, but neither of us ate it and stayed dry(knock on wood). All fish were caught jigging on a variety of maribous and wooly buggers. Plus some new deer head jigs that Brandon tied that was my go to for most of the day. Deer hair with a pheasant tail that really mimicked a minnow when I could get it swimming right, and it was just slaying them. Most jigs were on the heavy side 1/8th and 1/16th oz. so we could bounce the bottom. The maribous (mostly white or brown in 1/8 or 1/16th) we literally were dragging the bottom with them to catch fish. Fish were really rooting the bottom, and staying down low. All in all a great start to the season, fish were a mixed bag to a bit larger than what we saw last year. I did not get too many pics (dead phone batteries...) but Brandon took some, and we both were running gopros, so once I get some editing done we will get some links up. Cuz also fished Friday and Sunday so he's got a few more stories to add as well. We also tried out the bobber for the gopro and got some good underwater action to boot. Tight Lines guys,
  24. Great video! Thanks for sharing
  25. Thanks for the report. Saw that Ollies was closed and was hoping it was just a seasonal thing... Going to miss the biscuits and gravy.
