  1. I spent allot of years not fishing with my dad. He was an old school bass guy, fished it hard like me, and when I was younger we'd butt heads allot as we are both stubborn. As I get older I've realised that despite fishing being my me time, I need to be less selfish and make those memories. @rps I'm pretty terrible taking pictures, but our wives said we better take a bunch and we tried this trip. Wish you could of gotten pictures too, but more importantly you'll always have those memories.
  2. Congrats buddy! Glad you guys got into them. Those are some dandies. Fall creek down was def good fishing. Had a good jig bite on white on 2lb as well. Was great chatting with you guys too! Lots of boats today for sure.
  3. We ventured out on our own today and put a whackin on them. Fished worms and minnows for the dad's and Geno and I jigged and threw the pink power worm for a bit. Started just below fall creek and right off the bat my dad got hooked up on a worm power bait combo. Thought he was snagged at first but he had a good fish on. He battled him for a bit and I thought maybe he had a brown as it was staying down. Turned out to be a 19.5 bow. Tried pinching his tail and he just came up short, but he was thick and heavy and dad was tickled pink. We continued drifting down, spot locked in the big eddy and switched to minnows and it was on. Bunch of stockers and eaters but they had a blast. Nick hooked a nice bow out of that hole as well as Geno and I scrambled to keep minnows on the line and keep them catching. We prolly boated around 45 today. Caught our limits again to take some fish home for the fam. The rain held off and just a bit windy today, but just another blessed day on the lake. Took them to Dana's tonight for dinner, and got them back home and tucked in. About time for Geno and I to go chase em tonight.
  4. Thanks guys, and yep John those of you who have had the pleasure of fishing with my bro know he's def a bit off like the rest of us We're def enjoying every minute with them. I'm def going to make it a top priority to do more of it. For tonight's action Geno and I actually did not go to the dam tonight. Mediocre flow with 2 units we decide to soak some worms off the dock... who knew you can relax and fish at the same time! Tomorrow night it's on though as I think Blake and Levi are gonna roll up there with us. I'm actually in bed before 1AM... I hope I don't hurt myself lol
  5. Well we truly had a blessed day this morning. Started out with some rain, but the skys cleared and we loaded up our dads and we were off! A huge thanks to @duckydoty for being our captain today. You are awesome my friend and I'm so thankful for the part you played in making some awesome memories for us. The cat herding was strong today, we suffered through Genos Spanish lessons and his stellar net skills to land a bunch of fish. Most came on the worm and I hooked a few on the jig for my dad and me The laughs were many, and I think our dads missed somewhere around 1000 bites lol, but they both figured it out and got it done with Mr. Doty keeping us on the meat. Speaking of meat, we kept some fish for our fams, and watching Geno mangle trout on the cutting board as he apologized to each little trout we cleaned had me in stitches. Dinner at Florentinas to celebrate and now taking it easy here at Phil's so we can try our hands again tomorrow. Thanks @Phil Lilleyfor recommending our unit that's been great for Gpa Nick so far, and Pontoon 8 is just an awesome fishing pontoon and again worked great getting him in and out with his walker. A truly great day, and one our families won't soon forget.
  6. Was great seeing ya buddy, next on the list we're gonna have to fish together!
  7. Yep gonna soak it all in buddy. We got down around 1030 tonight and after getting the dad's situated Geno and I headed down to the dam. Caught a few smaller ones on the French pearl, but didn't stay too long. We called it early as we wanted to get a few hours of sleep in before our adventure tomorrow.
  8. We're heading down tonight for another run at it. This time Geno and I are bringing our dads with us to get the old pops on some fish. Geno's dad is 94 and my dad is 71 so we are trying to fish with them as much as possible and take advantage of every minute with them. I owe pretty much everything I am to my dad. Although we never fished together as much as we should have he still planted the seed a long ago when I was 3 or 4... He's almost completely blind now, but Duane said he's got some tricks up his sleeve to help him out. We're gonna strap them both in on a pontoon and give it our best. Going to be a different kind of weekend, but one we'll all enjoy. Geno and I will still work on trying to death march ourselves all night in search of sea monsters. As usual I'll try to keep some pics posted in here.
  9. I'm down that weekend as well. Geno and I are bringing our dads down to hopefully get them on some fish. I'd love for you to show me down lake fishing. I've never gone past the landing.
  10. Nice! Well we def need to sync up this time Travis! You staying at Phil's? You should come over to the dark side with Geno and I a night or too as well lol.
  11. In summer time there is def more folks out at night. Only a few of us are dumb enough to chase em at night in the winter... Depends on the bite and the flow though. Can sometimes be crowded even during the weekend. Post up when it's closer to when you're going. If I'm free I'll do a turn and burn and meet ya down there if you'd like. You can get the 1 fish guarantee like all the rest.
  12. We only caught one brown the other day, I'm sure they are all gaining weight though based off the rainbows bellies we saw. Fish were stuffed fat. Hoping it stays hot till I get back down next weekend!
  13. You really had to be on top your jig game for sure. Very subtle bite, and I missed a ton of fish due to wind, but they also were doing allot of nipping. Sensitive rods def help, but as Blake said we spent a lot of time watching our lines yesterday. I bet we'd have easily doubled our numbers without the wind and some clouds for a bit. Still a fantastic day of fishing though.
  14. Some other solid fish that we caught yesterday. We hammered them pretty good despite the bright sun and some nasty wind. I missed more fish and they live to bite when it's gusting lol. Quality over quantity I'd imagine to some, but 60 or so fish in 5 hours or so was good for us guys who are usually in the water not on it. I can't imagine what would of been if we'd have had overcast and zero wind. @BrandonSTL got it done and had biggest fish which was the bow on one cast, and a nice football brownie to boot. Be might have some more pics.
  15. You'll really be at the mercy of the generation pattern in July. You can wade with up to 2 units flowing but if Taney goes over 707ft it gets tough. Bring a buddy if you can. It can get a bit hairy with 2 units with strong current. If you luck into some low flows at night fishing can be stellar though. Jigs and jerk baits are my poison, but stripping streamers and wooly buggers on the fly rod can produce as well. Post a heads up on here when it gets closer and if any of the Night crews around I'm sure they'd give ya some pointers.
  16. Night bite wading has been just ok for us tonight. Caught a few 17 and maybe one that would of went 18in. Fish are fat! I'm throwing mostly Doty French Pearl jerks, and @BrandonSTL throwing some white jigs he tied up. Def more action on jerks with this flow. Water is cold for sure lol, and temps been dropping since we got down. Did see a nice Walter follow me up past outlet 2. Fished there first then went down to last outflow down past rebar, but tough wading with the current flow. Hoping one of us can stick a toad. May have to boat it tomorrow depending on the crowds...
  17. I'm all good buddy. Got a few texts today... Didn't mean to make a worry, I went dark for a little bit and dropped about all online social media and such. Been a good few months pretty unplugged... I'll get back in my normal groove here shortly. Oh and the SS 606 French Pearl's working pretty good tonight. Bites not quite on fire, but we're picking up fish for sure out here in the cold.
  18. Certified pack mule and Genx'er checking in... graduated what seems like forever ago in 98... fishing day and night ages you faster I hear, so in fish years I'm like in my 90s already! 😃
  19. Caught my last one at Jigfest a few weeks ago... was hoping to hit Taney one more time, but work and life got in the way... At least this one was a nice fish and capped off the day with @N9BOWand @BrandonSTL right before we headed in.
  20. Simply awesome my friend. Glad you persevered through this stupid year with the rest of us. Congrats on the PBs and tell Landon congrats as well. Hope to fish with ya again soon. We need to just make it happen!
  21. This one stands as my best photo I think I've personally taken. Everything worked and it's a special time and place for me on the pan in CO and the other from AZ that same trip...
  22. Some great pictures in here. Im no photographer, but the ones I do capture usually hold a special place in my bones. I catch myself often forgetting to take more pictures, but most of these moments stopped me in my tracks and said hey dummy you should take a picture of this. Most all I've posted here before. The kids and family pics are my favorites, followed by fish pics, but could fill pages here posting all of those...
  23. Glad you got those kids out Mitch! As a fellow father of 3 girls I'm just enjoying every minute I can with them. My oldest turns 16 in a few months and luckily she still has interest in hunting and fishing with me. Still working on the middle child but shes coming along... the little one well shes part feral in her up bringing but I think she'll be like my oldest! Lol
  24. Glad you got out with the kiddo Cody, stinks about the battery, but as others have said glad you caught it in time... I had a little drone battery flame up inside a charging bag on me once... they can be fickle little fire starters for sure.
  25. Mitch, Phil should have all my code from the previous work I did for the measuring app. We were incorporating 4x4 tile which you laid next to the fish, or incorporated into your measuring board, which was a big barcode. That set your base line and you placed draggers from nose to tail of the fish. It also date and time stamped the photo, captured GPS coordinates which you could turn on and off, and uploaded the files to the cloud where they could be viewed in real time. Goal was to use it for scoring Phil's length tournament. I'll get back to it one of these days, but life smashed me in the face and it kind of took a back burner... Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions. This was from an early build...
