  1. Nice job you two! Glad to see a well executed plan work out. Wish I could of made it down... Although a death march in this heat would of made it interesting lol.
  2. Got down around 10 tonight. The little white husky jerk has been money this evening. Super slow retrieve and just a twitch every now and then and they are hammering it. Over a dozen in the first 2 hours. Lots of little stockers are up here by the dam, but you just have to weed through them to get to nicer fish. Picked a few stockers up on an olive and ginger jig as well. Caught a small Walter and a white bass too, and one fat bellied bow that gave me a nice ride. Flying solo tonight so pics aren't the best... Super foggy tonight too.
  3. So finally ran out of gas... Yeah Mr. BH it happens sometimes lol. The 4 hour drive, then 5 hours at the water park before I got to fish wore me down. Fishing was steady up until we left. I say we as I ran into a guy that I met at Walmart back home a few weeks ago that we casually talked fishing. Def a small world and him, his buddy, and I fished together for the evening. Stick baits worked awesome. I was throwing a husky jerk in Pearl white, and they were throwing some bigger 3 hook sticks in shad colors. We worked them back in pretty slowly and the trout were hammering them in the flat water. Caught 2 nice Walters that he kept. One had some sculpin in his gullet. We fished with the water still off between the cable and outlet 1 then moved down past outlet 2 where one of the guys hooked a nice 19in rainbow that was just stacked! Super tall with some shoulders on him. Prolly every bit of 4lbs. My scale was broke but we did measure his length. I mixed things up between the jig rod and the sticks and caught fish on both. Caught a male rainbow that at first I thought was a brown as the dots on him were huge. Had to do a double take to make sure. Finished up with over a dozen I think by the clicker. Not smoking them, but it's always quality over quantity. Overall not a bad start to the week here.
  4. Beautiful night to be on the water. Feels awesome to finally get back down. Water is all the way off, hopefully for the rest of the night. Jig bite was decent right before dark up between outlet 1 and the cable. White 16thoz bugger pattern worked fast back in. Fish were midging like crazy right at dusk. Busting out the fly rod now.
  5. Thanks for the report Bill. Sounds like they are in a good pattern! I'll be sure to post up if I can get into them up in the trophy area.
  6. Thanks for the update. Might see ya down there this week!
  7. Haris122 I'll shoot ya a pm with my cell.
  8. I know buddy, that was on my end... Too much going on, plus this dumb heat. Hope you guys can stay cool and see a good race.
  9. Heading down tomorrow for our annual family trip to Branson and I'm super pumped ready to go! Me and my BIL will be fishing mostly nights and early morning before the daytime running around begins... Finally got my oldest some waders too. Found some cheaper ones so we'll see how they hold up before I go all in on nicer ones... Hopefully she brings us good luck. She can't wait to be able to fish more water than her muck Boots would allow. If anyone wants to night fish and needs a partner just shoot me a message on here. I'll try to take pics and keep this updated.
  10. Nice job man! Cool video too.
  11. No, I do run it in a spinning reel. Its a older Quantum Energy PTi 10. Its got a bigger spool than the small Pfleuger Presidents. Shoots line just fine and can sling stick baits even on my short rods. Sure I am giving up some distance over a larger setup, but I like the feel and sensitivity on the smaller rods. For traditional line I run Maxima ultragreen pretty much exclusively in 4, 3, and 2lb test. I have never tried the 6 or 8, but I'm sure it would work as well. It does stretch though. I'd even say it has more stretch than the P Line, Vanish, and Trilene I've used, but I continue to run it as its smoother and in my experience stronger than its competitors. It can really sling the small jigs out there, and I get the least amount of memory out of it compared to the others. I am on a spool of 4lb P Line currently which I will strip off here before the weekend as I think I got a bad batch. Never had so many break offs at the knot, and the line is super brittle despite being only a few weeks old.
  12. That is awesome! Plant the seed often and early! Man you are dialed in on those brownies.
  13. I use the 10 or 8lb braid just fine in a size 10 reel. I've even ran it in one of the small pfleuger presidents, but it runs better in a wider spool. Never had a problem with it other than when I got it wet in cold weather... Once it gets wet below freezing it's game over.
  14. Yep was just gonna chime in and suggest the braid. I fish 4'6 buggy whips and you def have to crank back on them like you would a bass, but the braid will def help when fishing the jerk baits.
  15. Don't know if I'm more jealous of the beer or the fact you're gonna go crush the salty fish out there! Can't wait to see the report!
  16. Man that's a pretty Cut! And Yes Mr. Ham is a Jig master!
  17. I'm hoping to find some hopper bite this upcoming weekend and next week. If the hoppers aren't working don't be afraid to go to a smaller beetle or ant pattern. If the water pattern stays the same you can also try your luck at night with big beetle patterns. Find the flat water at night and fish the swirls and boils. Top water at night has been my latest favorite when the conditions are right.
  18. He really is just an awesome guy! Have had the pleasure of fishing with him, and I spend more time trying to watch and learn than fish (and hanging onto the seat cushions, but that's a different story ). One heck of a fisherman, a heck of a woodsman, a heck of a woodworker and carpenter, and a great person to spend a day with. Can't forget to mention the comedic efforts as well. If you don't crack a smile or two when you're around him you're doing it wrong! See ya soon Mr. Doty!
  19. Nice job Ham! Sounds like an awesome day and a much needed trout trip.
  20. You're doing it again! Posting nice brownies and making me figure out a trip down the lol. Jealous of those Brooks too. As usual nice job.
  21. Thanks for the report Bill. Friday can't get here soon enough so I can get down there for the week. Maybe we'll bump into ya, although we'll likely be fishing mostly at night.
  22. Yep look killer
  23. I've posted up some of our work turkeys before. Today we watched for about 20min a hen with 6 or 7 babies in the field on our campus. Maybe the 2nd time I've ever seen baby turkeys like that. Pretty cool. They were tiny and you can't really make them out in the picture. At one point they got real close to that little doe and she stopped to watch them too.
  24. I appreciate that, but I would have to send them to BH first LOL. I've tied maybe 4 or 5 jigs my whole life with my cousin. As Marty would say I can't sit still long enough to get into that hobby . Plus the one time I made a really killer looking jig, got the wraps looking halfway decent, and laid in a pheasant tail just perfectly, I hooked a nice rainbow on my first cast. Second cast right into a tree... Jig gone... sadness commenced. It's part of the game, but the fact my cousin tied like 10 jigs in the time it took me to make just that one I decided I am better at fishing the lures than making them LOL
  25. Nice job, and those pics turned out really great! Looks like the BH Micros are working as designed... If only I knew a guy who could hook me up with some of those I ate it the other day on one of my local ponds too. Same situation, but didn't quite make it in, just got myself and all of my fly line covered in mud LOL.
