  1. Quill, Nice pictures. Sounds like you and Muddy had a very nice day. Are you getting your boat back this week? Mike
  2. Mary & I put in at Moonshine around 11:30 am today. Lake was like a sheet of glass. We started in the Chateau cove because we only had a couple of hours of free time. After about 1/2 hour God turned his fan on high and the whitecaps began to roll in. We stayed for another 1/2 hour in that spot without a nibble. Went to the extra spillway side of the peninsula and we promptly caught 3 SM in <15 fow. All dinks but it was fun. Mary caught hers on the Ned and I caught 2 on a deep jerk bait. Both of the JB fish hit while the lure was in pause mode. WT was 52.6 and it was super clear (at least 8-10'). The Ned did manage to drag up some of the green slime from time to time. We took out at 2pm. Mike
  3. Ben, thanks for the report. Great pictures of healthy looking fish. Mike
  4. Bill, I'm here off 265 & Stormypoint Rd and we got some rain last night but not enough to have a good run off. I'm sitting on the deck watching the white caps rolling into the dam area. Probably will get out tomorrow and try fir some of those deeper schools I've been reading about from you, Beck & others on here. Mike
  5. Mix, as Debra Barone said to Ray Barone, "OMG, you've grown up." Sounds like you have some fun times ahead with your family. And if you get to fish every now and then it is icing on the cake. Mike
  6. Well maybe we will get to prove what many of our members say on this forum, "The worse the weather the better TRL fishes." If that is true we should see a few fish over 5 lbs cause the forecast keeps getting worse. Mike
  7. Right now it appears to be the first day of a cold front with 60% chance of rain. Perfect conditions for fishing and a picnic!! Mike
  8. Mike, congratulations on your tourney. TRL can be fickle. You're a class act publicly appreciating your boaters. Mike
  9. Quill, nice pictures. Bank fishing and exercising the knee. You were multitasking. Sounds like good therapy. Mike

    Big M 3/4

Patlock and I fished the Big M area today from 7:30am (brrr) till 1:30pm. WT was 51.4-53.3. Found some good color water in one cove and caught 10 with 2 keepers. A mix of LM & Ky. Swung and missed a couple of good bites. Fished some main lake water and ended up with 17 total. Spinnerbait, Ned & crankbait caught our fish. Saw 2 bald eagles along with an eaglet. Nice day to be out. Mike
  11. Bill, so true. Prior to retiring here I was used to fishing LOZ and KY/Barkley. I did not own a spinning outfit except for a trout rod and reel. This forum has taught me a great deal about TRL. I now have 3 spinning outfits on the deck every time I go fishing and I am still learning every time I go out. My new electronics have helped me find fish bunched up a little deeper and I have managed to catch a couple out of that bunch. I appreciate all the information everyone shares. Mike
  12. Bill, Seth & Quill, great information. When I went into Viney I saw the boats were beating the banks. You just can't fix stupid. You can't wish the fish to the bank no matter how hard you try. WT at Big M was 52.5-54. 8 days ago it was 56.4 - 59.5. My electronics yesterday showed the fish were bunched out a little deeper. The ones I caught were 15-20' down. Again thanks for the information as we all need those reminders. Mike
  13. Vernon, I agree. I like mine rare enough so a good veterinarian might be able to save it. I am always confused as to why people will eat sushi (raw fish) but want their steak well done. Things that make you go HMMM..... Mike
  14. Champ, healthy looking fish. Thanks for the information. Mike
  15. 17.0 is in first. Big bass was 6.1 Mike
  16. Quill, I came into Viney just before 11. I came in to look at the ramp. I actually put in at BIG M. I was in my maroon Ragin Cajun. I saw a couple of guys fishing the bank but wasn't close enough to see who it was. I fished a couple of spots off the main channel swings for a couple of hours. I only caught 5 with one being a keeper but everywhere I went there were boats working the water. Sounds like you and Muddy had a nice day. Mike
  17. Dave, tell the truth.....each of those boxes from your picture really only has multiples of the same lure in the same color. I do thank you for that picture cause when Mary says I have too much tackle I say "Look at this picture of Dave's tackle. " Mike
  18. Champ, I agree with what you said. I always have a jig tied on but I mostly pitch it to objects rather than fish it like I do the Ned or shakey head. Mike
  19. QB, now that makes more sense. Mike
  20. 31.99 lbs was the winning sack! Nice bag. Congratulations to Pete. Mike
  21. Donna, nice fish. Great way to end the day. 17 lbs won the BFL last Saturday so you guys were not far off the leader. Mike
  22. 96, I throw a 3/4 nutech jig 90% of the time. Mike
  23. C4f, yep individual items. Use what you are comfortable with. Mike
  24. Great movie reference. Mike
  25. I'll bring paper plates, bowls, napkins and plastic forks knives and spoons enough for everyone. Mike
