  1. We all turned out OK. I think I would have benefited, from some more intense teaching. I don't regret any of it. Catholic school, or public, both were very different than what we have now.
  2. I only went to 4th grade (in Catholic school). I never became a good writer, thanks for the help. It is funny what a guy will remember, for no apparent reason.
  3. Looked for walleye around big m saturday, got spanked I did hook one but never got to see it, judging from the head shakes I don't think it was big. It was in the brush on about 26 ft deep on the east side of the point. Brushy, rocky, stuff. Bait: 5" creek chub. I think I could make a haiku, but can't catch fish. Did you know in my youth, I went to catholic school? There they did not want us to use contractions. They said it was sloppy English. I use them all the time now, have you ever heard of that? At 51 I still have a guilty conscience every time I use one. It is amazing how a nun, equipped with a ruler, can drill something into a person. Wow that was off topic ! haha !
  4. What about a danged'o berkley cherrywood ? http://www.berkley-fishing.com/berkley-rods-casting-rods-berkley-cherrywood/berkley-cherrywood-hd-casting/1365015.html#start=1
  5. I knew there was a reason I don't visit Montana....I would never leave. Thanks for the pic's. -24 yikes !
  6. I use 10# braid, 12# flouro leader. 6'6" medium action berkley lightning rod. I have to use pliers to get the hooks out. I am weird, I can't help it.
  7. No not at all, I like so well I want to add another screen to it.😁
  8. I was kind of kicking around the idea of hard wiring a video out jack in my depthfinder. hds gen2 7", has anyone done it? Another related question: Can you Ethernet from structure scan to lap top for a video out? (doubtful) and (I know that I would have to make a cable) Thanks
  9. Rottweiler. You don't have to oil him. I am raising a new puppy now, but when his grandpa lived here we always had at least 3 dead armadillo's in the yard. The record for one night was 9 armadillos, 3 raccoons. All this happens while you sleep. You have to be quick with the shovel, those suckers go to stinking quick.
  10. I think bird feeders are great ! House cats ok, it's still a free country, but it is impossible to keep them in the yard. Let my rottweiler get over on the neighbors one time, there is heck to pay. Anyway it doesn't take long for a positive thread to go negative, sorry John, I am part of it too.
  11. I used to know a guy who would shoot cats at night with a bow 😁 It is a great way to "become the arrow"or so I am told.
  12. I had a couple bird feeders in the front yard. We have an attached car port on our home, the north side is framed in and has windows in it, (you can see for like 20 mile to the north) the front yard is to the south, anyway, while the little birds were happily feeding, a large coopers hawk flew down and snatched a cardinal right off the feeder, then tried to make his 100mph get-a-way through one of those closed windows, both predator and prey were dead on the other side. I think coopers hawks are one of the coolest raptors in Missouri . I still have the bird feeder it is just placed at a better departure angle It goes to show that you never know why a guy has a bird feeder.
  13. I can't believe you weren't out Christmas shopping, like me, that's just wrong.
  14. Where was this ? Awesome, thanks for sharing.
  15. 7 yrs old, wow awesome !
  16. One river "real" river walleye, preferably, in SE Mo. I used to backpack in and around the Johnson shut-ins area, in my youth. There is some kind of romance in those trees rocks and water for me. I am still hoping for that 10# or 30"walleye from a SW Missouri Lake, hopefully Stockton but I wouldn't cry if it came from Tablerock. I would love to do all this with my wife, but I realize these are my goals.....that don't make sense. A word to the wise: The journey is the best part, the sense of accomplishment is fleeting. Memories are good, but active participation is better. I about drove myself crazy looking for a walleye from Stockton each month. The constraints of work, weather, time, money, some days I wanted to quit this foolishness, but once I got some water under the boat, it seemed to be ok. I guess I taught myself to work toward a goal, and enjoy the moment that I am living in. Now if I can just make some money doing what I love, win win.
  17. and a fluorocarbon leader Double uni to join them.
  18. It is a sacrifice, but that is marriage. You have to fake it. Say "wow, nice, I love this" stuff like that. Then when you get home fish until you can't walk.
  19. Wow nice....hat !
  20. When it comes in I will take a picture of it after mounting. I currently have the hdi ducer on the rear. it does sonar and down scan
  21. Wow nice ! I was going to go today, but the beans are down, brush needs to be burnt, the wife needs her back shaved again. Stuff like that.
  22. Thank you I found this badge in the picture. I think this is the lss2 type transducer with di built in? If this is like or same as lss2 I will be very happy ! Now I will be waiting for a cheap hds 10 or 12 someday.
