  1. And we digress ๐Ÿ˜‚ We are talking about the ned here come on ๐Ÿ˜ I am going to have to poke my "minds eye" out now. Yuck !๐Ÿ˜ฒ We are having fun now. I need to go fishing
  2. I almost boated a big one using a spoon and spinning tackle, i had a friend with me, but no cut gloves, i might have got it landed with gloves or a glove. Anyway it looked about as big as they get around here. At least 4.5 ft long, i don't have any idea the weight, it was big enough that the guy that was with me just stood there with his mouth open for what seemed like 10 minutes ๐Ÿ˜ So yes i think that a guy could catch something on some old underwear. There is a joke there somewhere. Oh we were talking about the ned๐Ÿ˜‚
  3. Alright i am getting an Arkansas fishing licence ! I bet a big spoon would be good too !
  4. Here you go, i have done this on bullshoals, beaver creek area, july. I used a piece of bow fishing line, it was a great moment with my son.๐Ÿ˜
  5. I do better with some sun, always have. I wondered if some of those schools were big shad. Had 3 large schools under to boat, threw 1/2 of basspro at them, nada.
  6. That looks like my screen Saturday.
  7. For sure, prey drive, that's it.
  8. It looks like a crawdad, minnow, tadpole wormy, thingy. That is my scientific speak. Oh and 50yrs ago dad use to take the pinchers off all the crawfish we fished with. Wish i had thought of it !
  9. Wow nice !!
  10. I went Saturday/today, about got skunked, started late quit early frustrated. You all did good.
  11. You will cast about 4 times farther too. My uncle was a skeptic, we were throwing to the bank, he was using mono, he kept saying, move closer, I said here try mine, he threw it with the same enthusiasm, the weightless fluke ended up about 10 feet high in the trees, that is the difference. The no stretch characteristic gives better feed back. Maybe this will help...Copied from the berkley web site: Stretchโ€”Mono stretches more than superlines and more easily than fluorocarbon, which gives it a forgiveness factor other lines canโ€™t match. If your drag sticks or you set the hook too hard, mono compensates by stretching up to 25 percent or more. While mono has many benefits, there are tradeoffs. For example, because of its stretchiness, itโ€™s not overly sensitive. If you need to detect ultra-light bites, discern subtle changes in bottom composition or feel what your lure is doing at all timesโ€”especially at long distancesโ€”a superline or fluorocarbon is a better choice. Like I said. I use braid, with a leader, I try to get the best of both worlds. You will just have to try it. After you use it for a couple years just spool it from one reel to another all the stuff that you never use at the bottom of the spool will be at the top then you are good for another couple years/
  12. Right on !!!
  13. I use high vis 10lb spiderwire stealth braid, the stealth braid, designation is important, don't get the other stuff. I use a leader usually some good 10# florocarbon but i sometimes go up to 15# when throwing the spoons. I can buy the stuff at buds bait, or walmart. It will last more than a year of fishing.
  14. Nice rock bass or goggle eye whatever it is. Very neat !
  15. Thank you all for the fine and detailed bass reports and info, but what about the crappie with this high water? Anybody making it through the debris to the crappie ? Thanks
  16. I wonder who won that tournament and what was the #. I usually don't care, but who knows we could have another state record in there.
  17. From what i understand the fish are on their beds or making beds in the same places they are just deeper. There is some green goo at certain depths, i did better when i go out just past it. You will see when you get there, a spoon finds all the goo๐Ÿ˜. Good luck to you. Hope to see some pics.
  18. Yes i really thought about a video yesterday, i hate editing๐Ÿ˜ฒ it takes forever. The walleye was in about 24 ft cruising around over a rocking point, the white bass were 12ft in the pole timber working bait fish, very tight group you will have to do some looking. I could see what i thought was suspended crappie from 6 to 15ft. If i were to go for them i would do some drift fishing midway in the back of a cove over say 25 ft of water, or maybe better troll a blue tiger #7 flicker shad on a light pole let it run in that 12 to 15ft range. I have a lot to learn about crappie but i will tell you that we put the smack down on them late morning on mothers day with that blue flicker shad. Bust the banks early, when there are done go to trolling. Hope that helps. If you cross a point with that crankbait you may find some walleye.
  19. I was jonesing to get on the water, I did not care if it was high. I had a bad leak down on my power trim, I work on it, couldn't stand it, I had to try it out. The trim is now fixed, it was a check valve. Many thanks to Cope marine, and Fishnwrench for the trouble shooting and parts. I should have taken a picture of the floor of my boat, it looked like basspro threw up in there, as it turns out all I needed was this little 3/8 Binks spoon to make something happen. Nothing real big but I came home with a mess of fish, my trim works and I didn't have to speak to anyone. I call that a win !๐Ÿ˜
  20. I'm trying it ๐Ÿ˜who else ?
  21. We were missed by 4 miles. Thank God !
  22. The guy n the video had a flag, I guess they don't help??
  23. I am a new to the kayak world, but when I was fishing at Eaglerock I about ran over a kayaker who was crossing the lake. I was not on plane or going fast. I have a deep V . To be honest the nose is higher than any kayak. If I do any more lake fishing I will have a flag on my yak, don't know what else to do to make it more visible. As a fellow yaker I was sorry but hey I am doing my best.
  24. I used a canoe, or jon boat or the like, but never a kayak until a year or so ago. Just put an anchor trolley, reel on this little 10 foot vibe. Will it be good ? I don't know.
  25. This is not unusual, we have had opossum, several hawks and owls, now this baby groundhog. I know we are probably in trouble somehow. Well, if the conservation agent who monitors this web site (yep, I know๐Ÿ˜) would like to come to the house you can pick this little guy up.
