  1. I always enjoy your "one cast " videos and tonight might have been one of my favorites all time. Tried to see if your commentary was in sync with the words coming across the screen . Liked the silent movie era soundtrack and the black and white video to go with it.
  2. Nice report and pictures. Thanks
  3. In Desloge where we live, they started a recycling program years ago. They gave I guess everybody in town three plastic bins to keep the paper, glass and metal products in. This has been going on somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 years now. Not as many people are involved in it anymore if our cul-de-sac is any indication and now the boys are throwing all the recycling trash in one bin of the trash truck. It's separate from the regular trash but it has something to do with the city having to pay extra. Not sure what that's all about and don't know how it is all separated when it get's to the landfill.
  4. JD, will be thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers. Dad had some surgery on his larynx years ago and came out talking like Clint Eastwood does now-interesting as he kind of resembled Clint in size and build anyway. Good Luck Jeff and Susie
  5. Wife Susie and I fished Friday and Saturday and you are correct in your fishing report.Lots of nice size fish and we ended up catching 5 over 3# in two days. Think I may have been fishing next to Buzz as I saw a guy catching them well and thought I might have known him. He resembled a younger John Tepple from Kansas and thought he could have been one of John's younger brothers. Saw a truck with the license plate BUZZ and by the time I put 2 and 2 together he was gone. Saw the usual mishandling of a couple big fish and did get wet enough to revive one that a guy had beached and let lay long enough for a picture. Saw another one a young lad paraded around with in his net and posed for a couple pictures and then found his trophy bottom up .Beautiful weather and with the exception of busty my fanny in the leaves and Susie almost going in head first, it was a great day to be out in the Ozarks.
  6. Had worked a 330 to 330 switch engine out of Bismarck back in the late 70's and often took the back road Hwy. N to Hwy. W home to Farmington. Was just West of Stono Mtn. when I came upon a big black cat sitting on the side of the road. Looked to be an animal weighing maybe 100 pounds with a long tail .I estimated it at that weight as at the time we had a black female lab that weighed 65 pounds and this cat was a good bit bigger and the tail was a good bit longer than our dog's tail. That area is pretty rough country even today. Got a lot of heckling from the boys about that sighting.
  7. The Mrs. has so many stashed in the 5-6 boxes she carries it's hard to get an accurate count. She lost a a box that had all scud patterns in it so now she has pretty much the same flies-eggs,scuds, beads, etc in each box. If she looses one box,she can go to the next one and not be out of her favorite fly. Couple of guys showboating around her at Taneycomo were quizzing her on her gear. "No she didn't normally use an indicator and yes she had somewhere in the vicinity of 7-800 flies in those boxes." They backed out of the stream after about 15" and her having them down 3-1 on fish.
  8. JD, sending out prayers for your rapid recovery. My wife is a two time breast cancer survivor who at 110# might be the toughest person I know. The first round they did the mastectomy and took out the lymph nodes on the right side. She isn't supposed to lift over 10# with the right arm but she fought big king salmon like a pro. The 2nd time , the radiologist seemed more like a used car salesman trying to convince us about multiple doses of radiation after the surgeon was sure he got all of the disease. It might be tough sledding for a while but you can do it. You have a heck of a support group here.
  9. Hey Rick, I always thought you needed a trout permit to fish the winter C&R program too. The local paper posted that it is C&R from 11/1/15 -2/1/16 and upon the 2nd date any bait was legal and you had to have a permit to possess and keep fish. Didn't ask the folks about having a trout permit because that power bait they were using wasn't for trout . Anybody have a good answer on the permit. Jeff
  10. Folks were fishing in Engler Park in Farmington,Mo on Saturday. Wife Susie and I (Jeff Tief) went Sunday after church.Conservation agent checking some folks who were fishing on the North side of the lake. Fish were schooling and finding the school made for constant action. Saw a dozen dead fish-some looked like they may have been there from the initial stocking and some had plastic worms hanging out of their mouth. Had a conversation with a group of people who were fishing nite crawlers and trout power bait. They informed me they weren't trout fishing and the lake has bass, panfish, and catfish in it. The half dozen dead fish floating around their staked out area told a different story. One of the group was the lad who had caught 2 lunkers Saturday and was unaware that trout fishing didn't start until Sunday-strange he had pictures of the fish laying on the bank. After our conversation one couple decided to leave-guess the warm water species weren't biting.
