  1. Might get dual use out of those as Christmas ornaments! good looking Clousers.
  2. It's ALIVE!
  3. Excellent tying Pat_ we've caught a lot of big fish on that pattern.
  4. Ah say , ah say, now thats a chicken boy.
  5. Wonder if they stocked some browns? That would be nice to see some survivors make it to decent size.
  6. Bet you remember the details pretty closely on those trips with old friend- that helps.
  7. I'd hate to venture a guess on what those hooks would cost at cost.
  8. Nice outfit on Phil with the gym shorts over the pj's/sweats.
  9. I use to tie a lot of zebra midges in the dark brown and either copper bead and wire or in gold. Not sure it looked much different than the black zebra midge when it got good and wet. I tie more RFSN with gold or copper beads and wire anymore. Got a good deal 20 years ago or so on Tiemco hooks from Jerry at Weaver's Tackle. He sold them to me at cost which at the time was $10 a hundred. Buddy, Danny decided he wanted some so he said just double the order and I'll pay you half. He was shocked when I told him I had ordered 1500 for both he and I. I assured him that if he didn't want all or part of his share, I would keep the entire order. It wasn't like they were going to go bad. He got his half!
  10. Those thread midges will work! I still have a few hundred of those TMC's around but I also bought them several years ago.
  11. Awesome colors!
  12. Marty, you got a "very good" from Susie and two grandsons who are here for the weekend!
  13. Especially the daddy! Kid is brutally honest.
  14. Youngest granddaughter who is 10 saw a picture of me at 20 years old. She turned and looked at me (almost 72) and said "oh Papa, what happened to you"!
  15. Danny makes 3 of the older group we've lost plus his son and my son out of the next generation.
  16. I'm going to try and run this by the Missus! Pictures of her first fish tied on her creations maybe from "Taneyfest"?
  17. One of my best friends and fishing buddies, Danny Horton, passed away last night at Mercy South. We met 47 years ago when I first started working on the railroad as a brakeman and he as a section man. He had been suffering for several years with heart and kidney issues and diabetes. He was always somebody I could depend on when it came time to plan a trip. We fished Missouri, Montana, Michigan and Wisconsin over that time period. He leaves behind his wife Kathern, son Chris and his wife Lori, and granddaughters Charli and Lainey. Some of the members on this website fished with him in the past.
  18. I watched it and it was interesting. Used to watch the "Fishin Hole" and one show, Jerry said he was going back to his old stompin grounds- the Castor River near Marquand. Father in law at the time had some property on it and we fished it often. Good memories!
  19. He used to mention my Dad, Bobby Tiefenauer ,in conversations and punch lines. Dad was one of the old knuckleball pitchers and they played on the Milwaukee Braves in 1963
  20. I mainly use shorter fly rods when I'm sight fish and a longer cast isn't necessary. If I'm stripping streamers or throwing a dry, then I prefer a longer rod. Had an engineer buddy on the railroad who was trying to learn fly fishing and was fishing the C&R section at Montauk years ago. He had bought a 9 foot Scott and struggled casting with little to no fly line out.
  21. Great colors on those browns!
  22. We used to get 60-70 car trains with those turbine blades. Usually had one blade on3 cars because of the length.
  23. I should have known that he's from the same town as me and a couple other guys on this forum.
  24. Do you remember the "Dos Equis" commercial "the most interesting man in the world"?
