  1. Check your fishing trip notes.
  2. Another reason is out of 8 miles only about a mile of it holds good amounts of fish. And if you have to hurry to cover 8 miles you might miss those areas completely.
  3. I would opt for shorter floats to maximize fishing opportunities. Long floats, like 8 miles or more, end up being a canoe trip not a fishing trip. I think about 4 miles is perfect so you spend more time fishing than paddling. That way you can get out and wade and really fish good looking areas thoroughly. JMO. Good luck and keep us in the loop.
  4. I quit adding the herl 20 years ago at least. By the time a trout determines if there’s a herl on top when it’s in its mouth, trust me, it’s too late😆
  5. Me neither. How can a trout see the top of a fly?
  6. Could have just been a day with less than optimal conditions? Post storm, high bluebird skies can really shut em down.
  7. We went over to the state park Saturday and you would not believe your eyes. 2 park workers trying to direct traffic. Poor guys. People working on their jet skis and boats while their trucks blocked off 2 lanes. The workers kept asking them to pull out and let others in but they weren’t having it. When they did finally pull out they parked their rigs in the turn around lane and blocked that off. People screaming and yelling. Crazy. One worker told me since moonshine is restricted it’s been a zoo every day. Cricket creek ramp is closed and they are launching off the parking lot. All the rigs were lined up since they launched early. Visitors without boats parked behind them and when they came back from fishing they couldn’t get their trailers out. All while more rigs tried pulling in only to get cock blocked. They had to back out up to the campground to turn and leave. That was Thursday last week.
  8. 12 miles is way more than I would do if I wanted to fish. Way more! Heck 8 miles is more than I prefer. 6 or less leaves plenty of time to fish. But hey. You do you.
  9. Can’t beat a good grilled mahi sammich
  10. I hate those conditions but sometimes that’s all I have.
  11. No report? With pictures.
  12. 3 guide boats were sitting behind the restaurant Saturday. Biscuit hatch. I saw em catch a few while we got our walk in.
  13. Like Ricky Bobby said if you ain’t first your last. I was first up there around 5:30. It was lights out for about an hour and half. Literally every cast was a big fat rainbow. A couple grabbed the jig as I was pulling it out of the water. Short-lined them and they would go nuts. All of them around 18”s and fat. Nothing busting the surface though. Never saw a shad. The boats just keep getting bigger. One of them made a wrong turn out of Puget Sound. The armada showed up and when I took a wave over the bow I left about 9:30. At one point I counted 17 boats between the cable and the ramp. . WT on the spillway side was 67, generator side 48. Ginger jig again.
  14. Don’t worry. The 200 plus people going there each week beat you to it. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  15. The fly casting on those is so pitiful I can’t even describe it. 😆. Makes me wanna go without the drug just for that.
  16. I used to do that to show off😀
  17. Oh, I’ll be there tomorrow am, Mr Junuh. 👍
  18. I was with Gary Flippin years ago down by Crooked Creek on the White. We watched a bunch of browns coral some stockers against the bank while they took turns charging in and picking them off. Some of the rainbows literally jumped on the bank to avoid them.
  19. One day if I catch one big one out of the trophy area with a bulging belly I’m going to keep it and see what’s in there. Stockers maybe? I haven’t kept a trout in at least 10 years. And those were for a fish dinner on a camping trip. For nostalgia sake.
  20. Those were caught on a ginger jig. No bites on white.
