  1. I went again on Friday, different pool, same results. The air was cold, the water was cold. Didn't bring the graph or thermometer, i just look for water thats deep enough. Caught mostly smallies, with a few largemouth, another walleye and a mess of spots that came home for dinner. I caught them on a jig, a worm, a swimbait, and a jerkbait. The biggest were all on the jerkbait. The walleye was just ahort of 20" and i threw it back too. 2 walleye in 2 trips while bass fishing. Im thinking they may be worth targeting! Too bad they aren't 15# like the ones in days of yore.
  2. This video should be titled "YouTube fisherman learns about corporate consolidation 40 years after the rest of the world". Basically every industry has been highly consolidated so that just a few companies own the majority of sales. It has been U.S government policy to incentivise mergers since the 80s. The niche products (bill norman top dollar) get nixed because they arent profitable enough. That's capitalism baby!
  3. In paint we often use "microspheres" to decrease the density, and increase the strength of the final coating. These are tiny air filled glass balls. Fumed silica would also probably work, but the bulk density is way higher so the end product would probably still be fairly dense. https://www.amazon.com/Glass-Bubbles-Filler-Epoxy-Polyester/dp/B07KPL163Y/ref=asc_df_B07KPL163Y/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=475926715830&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13863008283597289893&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9022858&hvtargid=pla-944164589678&psc=1&mcid=af6e37bc749f3be3b47b8f522356eaa3&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIocqLqtPVggMVWyCtBh1BVwcWEAQYASABEgJQefD_BwE
  4. I have never actually been to the Coldwater access, just the sam baker, hwy 34, and greenville access's. But my favorite spots are way above sam baker, so I have to get there super early, and paddle a pretty long way up river to get to where I want to fish. I find that stretch of river to be great. Seems like I have caught em pretty good every time I have been down that way. Plenty of bass and crappie, and apparently there is still 1 walleye swimming in it. My son and I did a summer day trip on that stretch too, and they were biting pretty well in and around the current areas.
  5. It was a long day, at least for November. Dark to Dark. I put in at Sam Baker and paddled up as far as I could get. Then paddled back down. Fishing was really good, but I paddled through quite a bit of fishless water and caught everything out of the same 2 holes.
  6. Instead of deer hunting on opening day, I decided to go smallmouth fishing. I made the right decision as they were really biting well. I was between Coldwater and HWY 34. The river was low and clear and I caught all of my fish out of winter holes. I threw my usual jerkbait, jig/worm, swimbait, and the last year or so I've been having luck with a skirted jig. All 4 worked well for me. I didn't bother to count, but I had 5 fish in the boat in first 15 minutes of actual fishing. I probably ended the day somewhere in the 30 fish range, most were smallies between 12 and 15 inches, a handful of spots, 1 largemouth and 1 walleye. The biggest fish was a 19 inch largemouth, and a 22 inch walleye. It is nice to know there are still some walleyes swimming around in there, and I threw him back. Throwing back a keeper walleye should put me in good favor with the fish gods. He was pretty lucky that the crappie have been biting up at Busch though so I have fish in the freezer.
  7. Lol you better stick to changing out impellers. 🤣 I'm not going to debate science with a boat mechanic that failed 7th grade math.
  8. PV=nRT It is pretty simple and not flawed at all, you just don't want to understand it. I simple look at Wikipedia would tell you everything you need to know if you cared to.
  9. I could not agree more.
  10. This seriously made me laugh out loud. What a hilarious reference. For those who may not know, Reinhold Messner is a world renowned mountain climber.
  11. I bought a book several years back called "buried by table rock lake" If I remember correctly there were some pretty good pictures in there, but the book itself was a fascinating read for anyone who may be interested in the history of the region. It is also a short and easy read, which is my kind of book!
  12. I caught 8 or so Friday from about noon til 4pm, but they were all less than 12 inches plus 2 goggle eye. Caught another 4 or 5 Saturday morning, and a couple more goggle eye along with the striper, but once we got to rainbow spring I didn't catch another fish save for a sucker that I must have snagged in the face. The scenery was nice, but I wasnt particularly impressed with the river or the fishing save for the stripers. If someone could figure out a way to catch them with regularity it would be worth the trip. They are big fish in shallow clear water though, so Im sure catching them consistently is a challenge.
  13. Do fish that eat crawdads taste better? I had never heard that before.
  14. I'm just kidding about the above post, but I generally just eat crappie, bluegill and walleye if I can get em.
  15. I threw it back. I only like to eat spotted bass from table rock and smallmouth from the rivers.
  16. Well it was 3 years too late but I finally floated this river. Went from twin bridges to Blair Bridge. The river was clear and we could see the bottom basically everywhere. There were lots of long flat runs that were largley devoid of life save for suckers. There was quite a bit of grass/slime that made fishing a bit difficult. There were plenty of good looking spots though. Smallmouth fishing was good for numbers (all dinks though) down to about rainbow spring. After that it got nonexistent. They were mostly in deeper holes. I caught them on jerkbaits swimbaits and ned rigs above the blue ribbon area. Trout fishing was tough, our fly fishing friend only caught 1 (17inch rainbow) and he usually catches lots. We didn't even see many. We did catch several goggle eye. I caught em on the ned rig and swimbait and my buddy caught em on a rooster tail. I did catch 1 striper on a jerkbait out of the thousands we saw. They were all steadily swimming up river and not interested much in lures. It was odd. We did see several above the blue ribbon stretch, so i wonder if theyd eat live shiners where youre allowed to use bait? Those are the types of fish that could drive a guy insane trying to catch. They were everywhere and actively avoided any lure tossed their way save for the 1 dummy that ate my jerkbait.
  17. I am not calling anyone a liar. I certainly do not fish as hard as Al said above. If I am on the water for 10 hours, I am probably paddling for 3-4 hours, hanging out at gravel bars, exploring, and watching scenery for another 2-3 hours which leaves about 3-5 hours of actual fishing. In that time I expect to catch 5-10 fish an hour or so. My day job requires rigorous note taking and attention to detail, so when I go fishing I generally prefer to just fish and enjoy the time I spend. The fact that I just like to "fish" probably hurts my skills as an angler because I am not constantly trying to maximize my time to catch the most or biggest. I cant help but be competitive when I am fishing with someone else, but I try to just enjoy my leisure time out there.
  18. I don't catch them very well on jointed jerkbaits and I sure have tried because I think they are cool, but a 3 to 4 inch regular jerkbait works well for me at least by my standards. I've never caught 80 bass in a day though lol and don't think I would even with the best possible lure. I would expect to catch maybe 5-10 bass/hour of fishing tossing one around. My favorite is an xrap 8cm in river perch color for the upper big river. I toss it around any current I see. I work it very fast and aggressive most times. 4 or 3 hard twitches then ill let it rest for a few seconds, then Ill just "walk" it back most times. Obviously experiment with retrieves because what makes them react can change quite a bit.

  20. My comment was mean and unnecessary, so this is my deletion of that comment. Sorry to those who read it and to fishinwrench.
  21. Yeah I guess I am the troll thinking that professional fisherman are somehow top notch athletes. 🤣🤣 Look at these pudgy bastards. They couldn't walk down a boat ramp without huffing and puffing.
  22. NO IT IS NOT!!! tell that to a landscaper, factory worker or roofer. Fishing if only physically demanding if you are way overweight or out of shape.
  23. What do you mean by that? I've posted reports, and pictures on this website for about 10 years now. Does someone need to vouch for me here?
