Some whim on the part of the Commission, why in heck are catfish game fish when they used to be a commercial fish? And German Carp were originally bought to this country because we had "no gamefish". All a matter of opinion until the Commission sets it as a Code.

hmm, I think the mouth is mostly jaw? Red Ear are listed as non-game here https://huntfish.mdc.mo.gov/fishing/species/sunfish/sunfish-seasons-hours I know when I was a kid Dad and his friends gigged sunfish.

Every body stinks. I can't stand being in enclosed places with people that use cologne or some kinds/brands of deodorant/antiperspirant. Some brands of cigarettes stink and some smell good. Even when I had a two pack day habit some cigarettes stank. If you eat meat, especially bacon you can be smelled quite a distance. Some vegetables cause some people to stink worse than other vegetables. If I don't like the way you stink I'll not nag you about though I'll just bring my own car so I don't have to be close to you. I actually notice people stinking less since I quit smoking, they still stink though I'm sure. Ever not have a dog sniff you?

Braided line suggestion in a spincaster

I don't get the sensitive part, but that's me being slow I guess. More on reel I understand but have never needed more back when I used spinning gear, how far do you let the fish run? (maybe I had bigger spools, but I used to fill part of them with masking tape or string to reduce the amount of line needed to fill the spool) Taking longer to degrade sounds very negative from a conservation viewpoint, does that stuff ever break or get cut off and left in the water like mono? Less abrasion resistance is why after switching the spool to braid, folks still use leaders, I guess? I had wondered about that too, and had considered using one of the tiny braids as tippet material but never did. -
Issued with soldiers rations in the Great War, all through my basic it was "smoke 'em if ya got 'em; if ya don't police the area" (pick up the other guys cigarette butts) They didn't force us to smoke but there was some encouragement to, we weren't allowed to chew gum ever. Nothing at all just some one on a crusade, it is however good advice, all that money could buy a boat.

Yes the circles got progressively bigger, I think that would always happen, I think the cameras were planned. A performance.

Gotta ask though, how do you suppose they knew to film all that and have the multiple camera angles, along with the the speed?

Braided line suggestion in a spincaster

So, it's been a few decades since I used any tackle but fly, I'm not at all current on spinning theology, but why would you chose braid over mono? Back when I was young the transition was from braid to mono. I always thought that both spin cast and spinning reels were developed especially to take advantage of the monofilament invention. -
y'all must not be doin it right, can't get no better than that!

I have read that UV bounces off the water, so that the dosage while boating might be double that collected working on the boat in the yard. That said a sombrero and a chambray shirt will protect as much as needed. Thousands of generations of hominins survived the sun or we wouldn't be here now.

Pea Ridge is a rural town not much changed in the last 50 years and lots less traffic than Bella Vista, which was purpose built as a retirement community/POA, and has grown the population far beyond the road capacity. I live about 4 miles from BV and 18 from PR and would chose Pea Ridge over Bella Vista hands down as a place to live. I'd chose Rogers or Avoca or Garfield or Clifty over the BV POA and traffic jams. You should look at Little Flock too.

I was asking how to tell Northern Rock Bass, Ozark Bass, and Shadow Bass & Warmouth from each other if they are all in the black phase, I only mentioned the greens because they can be very black also, and so can blue gill, I'm fairly sure you count scales or fin spines or teeth when there is doubt? All the very dark fish I've caught were very large specimens as well, some red eyed and some not. According to something I've read all those sunfish can hybridize, so green x bluegill x redear is possible, maybe? Never heard a green sunfish called a black perch but have heard the others called that... just as always hearing long ears called pumpkin seeds.
-
So what are the differentiating characteristics ? I've caught several completely black looking similar fish, some with red eyes and some without. Some I thought were green sunfish or shell-crackers, made me think older makes darker or deeper water makes darker. "Black perch" is what the old guys called them 60 years ago.

Braided line suggestion in a spincaster

Spinning reel has definite advantages over spincast in accuracy, distance, ease of use and most important the ability to access the line to keep clean and untangled. I'd still prefer mono over braid based on the braids that were available 15 years or so ago. Limp is wonderful until it's not, and loose loops over the end of the spool is a place that I think you can get too much of a good thing, I've had the knots to prove it to me. I never really needed to cast more than 50 yards anyhow, when fishing, and mono could always get me out that far. -
German Browns in Germany?

Found this as part of a old article You need the locals over there to get you hosted as a guest at a club, so the license isn't needed. I think Bavaria is where the trouts live, wherever that is. -

Color me surprised that it works at all, I would have guessed it to be too limp to work on those reels. I'd also guess that the braid will wear the pickup pins pretty fast. -

CG calls all vessels "she", and fwiw even a float tube is a vessel to them. -
Boating Etiquette When Encountering Kayakers

Doesn't this make the power boater responsible to avoid the kayak? Obviously the kayaker isn't smart if it hangs out in a marked channel, but it must at times need to cross that channel? Do power boats only operate at speeds above idle when in a marked channel? Do power boats ever go around bends at speeds that could be dangerous to a swimmer, kayak, canoe or drifting boat? There seems to be a tendency to absolve the bigger faster boat from any responsibility in any encounter? If a boat is allowed to roam the entire lake at high speeds and put the responsibility of collision on slow moving or stationary craft, doesn't that in effect prohibit paddle craft? -

There is no such thing as common sense, certainly not that would hold up in a court room. -

I guess I should ask if Mo has separate boating laws or if the Federal regs are the only rules. I looked on line a couple times and didn't find any Mo regs. -

I thought (from long ago memory) that powered craft yielded to to sail and oared craft? -

Do Mo boating regs address paddle craft in the hierarchy of who gives way and who stands on? -
That's what I was thinking about the C&W&R format suggested for tourneys, the sunnies would have the nest cleaned out be fore the catch was in the boat. I spent an afternoon long time ago pulling bullheads off the nests and it is remarkable how fast the other fish are on the nest to chow down.
