  1. That's not what I asked, nor is it related to OTC treatment. Take this crap elsewhere. For what it's worth, I had it last year at this time and here we are.
  2. Yea figured, just management of symptoms as best I can. I have a low fever and aches, that's the biggest issue right now.
  3. Had a good day last week on walk in areas. Three man limit of mallards, a pintail and a drake BWT..in late December. Pretty cool. Too bad he wasn't fully plumed.
  4. Well, tested positive for Covid for the second time today. Same day as last year. Weird. This round is not as fun. Fever, headache, chills, aches and chest congestion. Question is for those of you who've had it: what OTC treatments helped the symptoms for you? I'm taking acetaminophen, Mucinex and downing PediaLyte. It's a virus so not much you can do but manage. Guess I will not be going to Arkansas this weekend. Hopefully can kick this quickly and get a few more days of duck season in.
  5. My glass Costa Fantail Pros are the best sunglasses I've ever used. Glass is the way to go, as others have said.
  6. Just another Shannon County inbred "vengeance" fire.
  7. I hate full moons! The one in late November was awful, too. Lots of nocturnal ducks and geese right about now.
  8. That's the first I've heard of anybody doing any good on the river this year hah. STL side struggles. It doesn't help all the duck clubs in St. Charles are basically refuges since the guys who go there rarely hunt. Just go to get drunk and get away from their wives hah.
  9. @wily Four Rivers Unit 4 and 3 have been really hit or miss for us this year. Buddies have drawn in a couple times and done well, but you 100% needed Invisimans. The cover there is just atrocious. The ducks are educated for sure. I fear this freeze up sent em a little farther south, too. Been a struggle this week. Good deal nailing em!
  10. How's everyone been doing? Things have been a little slow for me. Shooting birds, but they're stale. The Dakotas finally freezing up surely will help. I never really hunt the draw areas but they seem to be doing well. We also need some actual cold. Two years ago everything was frozen solid and it was 10-15 degrees at night. The weather the last few years has been less than ideal to say the least. Hank got his first goose retrieves, too. He didn't miss a beat!
  11. I always think of Bill "Bluewater" Beck when deep fishing comes up. That guy was one of the best fishing deep by all accounts.
  12. Indeed! It's much better and it allows me, and others, to teach good ethics, practices and processes in the marsh. Not that I am God's gift to duck hunting, but I don't skybust, set up too close, spot burn, etc. and I think the best way to combat that stuff is to teach it.
  13. I call those razor blade flies. Soon as I get done screwing it up (usually after a few cocktails) I take a razor blade to 'em to save the hook.
  14. The problem with the magazine is they don't want to pay good writers for quality content. They have their own "staff" is what we are always told (aka they don't have to pay them). And then you get crap like this. Missouri is home to some very good outdoor writers..why not utilize them? Just being cheap.
  15. There have been many, many, many, many guys who got me into waterfowling and "changed" me from a deer hunter. Johnny Everhart, Dan Guyer, Dave Holtzknecht, Kenny Kieser. It means a lot to us when you show us the ropes and start a fire that can't be put out!
  16. Forgot to post this with work crazy the weekend we went. But, I Met Eddie Mattingly online as he was wanting to learn about waterfowling. We met up for a hunt 11/14 and he shot his first ducks ever. Wasn’t a barrel burner, but it was awesome to see him experience the process. I think I yelled louder than a gunshot when he shot his first bird--a juvenile drake pintail of all birds! It's weird about duck hunters, we are either mortal enemies or the most helpful out there, and that is not mutually exclusive. I'll chalk this up as a winner! Didn't fire a single shot today in West Central MO...had two suicidal singles work but that was IT. Come on cold front..
  17. Been a decent last few days. Birds were stale coming into the weekend. The freeze up north and the colder temps here should make for a great week! Went to Kansas Thursday and Friday and we shot em pretty good. They are definitely getting weary, but there are a lot of mallards around. People are posting everywhere about lack of mallards..well, go find them. Went to my private spot for the first time yesterday and this morning. Shot two mallards in an hour yesterday and then tried to shoot a deer. Shot four gadwall this morning. Should've had an easy limit of the greys. Way she goes.
  18. Cover in Units 1 an 2 are pretty bad. Some pools are unhuntable unless you have a layout boat or Invisiman. I've only hunted Units 3 and 4 this year and it's ok, but those are also the walk in areas. I drew in last year at Four Rivers and the cover was atrocious. Good luck..
  19. Another good solo job with Hank. They are getting weary and fairly stale, so we had to work for them. Always fun!
  20. Mom's Deli, Cunettos, Cugino's, Gioia's, La Grands...all must stops when I come back home to the STL.
  21. Thanks! He sure loves retrieving ducks.
  22. Had a banger of a morning. Solo limit with the pup. Done by 8:10 am. Seemed to be new ducks in the area. I'll take it!
  23. He's the only person I've EVER seen use the boga right with trout, and has been doing it longer than I've been alive. Take the L on this one.
  24. Another decent day for me in KS. Two wood ducks and a drake mallard. Lots of teal, mallards, gadwall and woodies flying but not as much as Monday. There are a lot of birds in the area, though. The suicidal single drakes wanted to die all morning. Another great day chasing feathers.
