Most likely all divers of some sort. If they're mostly black, I'd bet on ring necks. Black and white..goldeneye. Lots of both down your way by now.

I still say the one you finally catch @Seth is going to be a doozie. You're feast or famine. Drag those jerkbaits from Mario or Duane on the bottom and you'll get a monster. I have caught them on a wiggle wart. The smallies tend to get in the way, though. Darn.

Makes sense @Seth and @JestersHK. You definitely know how to fish the tourneys way more than me. Just wonder how much everyone fishing (which won't change) influences the day of the tournament. I know a few of the guides say after those tournaments it takes a day or so for the fish to 'get back to normal.' Pressure definitely plays a role at times on Taney, that I know. I still see you can't top the 20-inch mark on a brownie lol. If you were playing horseshoes, you'd be unstoppable!

I never understand why you guys fish prior to the tourneys. It always ends up screwing you over. Figure if you don't catch one of those 20+ inchers on Thurs/Fri they'll be more likely to eat a bait on Saturday. I mean the fish are going to be where they are going to be and you know how to fish for them in virtually all water situations, so why shoot yourselves in the foot? Not like fishing on a lake you guys have never fished before and trying to figure out a pattern.

What's your -current- favorite fly reel ?
Ryan Miloshewski replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in General Flyfishing Topics
My Ross Animas is top notch. For a cheaper model, you really cannot beat an Echo. I also like their fly rods, too. I have a couple of Lamson's and they just aren't that great to me as far as quality is concerned. Fight fish ok, just cheaply made and not hardy. Their new line seems better, though. Just haven't used 'em. -
Looks great. The way the duck falls apart in your mouth is awesome. I added mushrooms to mine and plenty of carrots. I like the veggies almost as much as the meat.

Used to love this song as a kid...found out what it meant a little later on in life lol -

Getting into tying my own flies was and is awesome. You won't regret it! Let me know if you need any tips, help or advice. -

Mop up what you can, but get a good (but not overly expensive) vise like a Peak rotary or something around $80-100. Trust me, it makes all the difference. It's best to have a good foundation, especially when you're just getting into it. No need for a Renzetti or something really nice, but don't skimp on what you'll be using for 100% of your flies. -
PSA: Check your air pressure

Also, check your coolant/antifreeze. Block was missing about 4 qts today. -
100% agreed. Always get the cripples. Thankfully, I have a dog for that now lol. Makes it way easier. And boy does he hate (or I guess love) them!

Awesome hunt @BilletHead and @curtisce! Sometimes you just have to bust em where they like to be. No shame in that this late in the season. I'd love to hunt with some chronologically gifted guys like yourselves sometime.

Favorite Taneycomo Water Level and Why ?
Ryan Miloshewski replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Four, hard, sustained units so I can target the big browns tight to structure or the bottom. If I just want to have fun, 0 units with my 6 wt and a small box of streamers from the cable to Trophy Run (at night or mid-day). -
Since I am quite duck rich this winter, I am getting creative. Made duck bourguignon the other day and it was fantastic. Used some non-fatty, skinless mallard breast and gadwall. Will definitely be making again. Of course, had to do a pan seared mallard, too. This is something that may be my favorite wild game dish, even though it's simple and easy. A seared piece of medium rare meat is hard to beat for my palate.

Hell you'd forget what Covid even is..you may be onto something here FW..
-
I've seen it with deer. Damndest thing. Ticks on the inside of the hide
-
It definitely took a LOT of scouting and driving. Had to find the birds, which is why most were complaining about the lack of mallards. It wasn't easy, and probably won't be any easier next year, but it's always fun!

Since I was down with Covid all week my middle zone vendetta ride was paused. I was able to get out yesterday for the closing day and shoot a few. Felt good to get out and enjoy the outdoors again, even if it was biting cold. I was only "off" for 5 days but it felt like an eternity. Time to go south and west..
-
Week later and feel pretty good. Still getting rid of mucus but other than that annoyance, pretty much back to normal. I'd say I'm 90%. I know about 10 other people who've come down with it over the last week. I think this is a good thing. Seems this variant is way less severe so if everyone can get it the herd immunity should skyrocket.
-
Lol there are plenty of people who react just fine. I am not one of those people, apparently.

I have a warranted fear. I partook in the THC edible version once in the last ten years and I will not be doing that again. Some 17 year old kid gave me two gummies because he'd "taken four all day with hardly anything." Famous last words. I forgot how to walk and the room would take 2 seconds or so to follow me when I moved my head. Kid must've been popping em like candy daily because if that's "hardly anything" I'd hate to see what something is! Lol.

The greenheads from below always look good! The bloodsicles just add to it..
