  1. Guess some just missed their calling!🤣
  2. ⁷MUSKIE guys have operated their tournaments that way (pictures)for a long time. I've fished one and it works good. BTW, us old facts remember when catch and release was not the norm and there was no length limits. And, guess what, people ate bass.🤪 Those idiot biologists took a lot of criticism (by anglers) when they introduced length limits. Now some are worried that anglers knock off scales. There's always a few who think they have all the answers and would be a better biologist than those trained to do the job.
  3. As long as you are engaged in an outdoor activity and stay 6 ft away from anyone else you are permitted. GO FOR IT! GOOD LUCK!
  4. Might as well blame poor fishing on our president too! GOOD REPORT! Thanks!
  5. If you like breakfast omelets, try morels (sauteed first) and cheese. I've found very few so far.
  6. 2 small crappie in brush pile in 38 ft of water! Tried up a couple creeks .....nothing! Very slow to say the least.
  7. Do not use the north mutton creek ramp as the courtesy dock there is pulled out and unusable. I would recommend the south Mutton Creek ramp by the MC marina. Good luck, the lake in that area is pretty muddy. In fact, you might consider the State Park ramp to get into cleaner water...... although at this time of year you generally want to fish upper lake!!! ??? Good luck!
  8. Really nice day on Stockton Lake! Lake is high (8.5 ft.) but not muddy on the main lake around Mutton Creek, muddy in the coves of larger streams. Seems as though the fish have taken the idea of social distancing (from people) to heart! Stay safe and healthy friends!
  9. Although the crappie didn't cooperate it was a beautiful February day and a Great Birthday fishing trip. Can't wait til next time! Spring is just around the corner!
  10. Sounds like a good idea. 3-4 inches of snow on the ramps at Mutton Creek now.
  11. Way to go! Kinda cold early, Huh? Great later.. One of these days!!!!
  12. When it comes down to it, relatively few black bass of any species are harvested due to the catch and release mentality that is so prevalent today. That was not the case 40 years ago. So, is there still a need for any black bass length limits?🤔
  13. 😁 good report!
  14. I would agree with changing the TRL length limit if I knew the growth rate and densities for spotted bass on TRL. If the GR were more rapid than the other lakes with LOW densities I would be opposed. That's why we hire biologists! But, it's not a bad proposal/question from the standpoint of regulation uniformity.
  15. The "Master" baiter store was on the east side of the Hwy, just across from the new Bait Master.
  16. I've always been happy with the size of minnows and count at Country depot (Son Sac North). Jct. of 215 and Y. But Occasionally, they will get small depending upon the time of year and demand. They also have a good supply/selection of artificial at decent prices. (matches or beats Bass pro!)
  17. Not many SMB in the lake, but a fair number in the PDT river above the lake. Maybe they are afraid of those large toothy critters! 😁😁
  18. Gasoline was 19 cents/gal. in the early 60's during a gas war at Cane Hill!
  19. The real example of "a cheap date". Gasoline was probably around 2 cents a gallon back then.
  20. Yeah, almost too late for duck season and too early for spawning. The COE must be releasing a lot of water for the muddy water to be moving down the lake that quick.
  21. Seems like I've seen those fish somewhere before! Good job! Thanks too!
  22. I have heard reports of blue cat caught in PDT but none were ever officially verified. And none in any of the creel census data. However, there are certainly a lot of blues in the Osage River system so it is very possible. The same goes for Stockton lake. I suspect that most of the blue reports are large Male channel cats.
  23. I'd bet the mountain people will appreciate those crappie! Better than those orange flesh fish. Have a safe trip.
  24. I've always found that you catch them on whatever they bite on! Just add a little patience and this time of year, go slow, slow, slow. 🐟
  25. Boat ramps are covered with Ice and snow, time to clean and oil the best reels and get ready for better weather! (wore out the Zebco 202's) And, Merry Christmas to all of you Ozark Anglers and have a great New Year fishing the best fisheries in the nation!
