  1. Me and my wife did Ponca to White River last year. Good fun, leisurely little 8 dayer.
  2. Yesterday (7/3/23) i was on my second leg of Rush to the White River. Was camping on a gravel bar a few miles up the Buffalo. The water came up 2-3 feet in a matter of 3 hours (starting around 10pm) and then went back down in about 1 hour. This 3 foot rise pushed water at least 60 feet up the gravel bar shrinking it down substantially. Anyone know if the water level on the lower buffalo is impacted by the water released Bull Shoals Dam ?
  3. I wanted to circle back and let everyone know we completed the entire river from Ponca to Buffalo City over memorial week 2022. It took 7 nights and 8 days. By far the best river trip of my life. 10/10 recommend to anyone and I have detailed route planning maps and gear list if anyone ever wanted it.
  4. I was curious if anyone has firsthand floating/fishing experience on the Little Red from Leslie Arkansas at HWY 65 down to Angora Mountain Road low water crossing. There is very little information available about this stretch, it looks juicy.
  5. You ever heard of stasher bags? They are heavy silicon bags. Thick silicone zipper keeps them air tight. I have submerged them several times with no air leak.
  6. One of the bullet points in that article says dry ice melts faster than regular ice so its not recommended for long trips. I've got to look into this more or maybe experiment before I put all my eggs in one basket.
  7. The paddle board is actually a pretty comfortable setup. I've got hundreds of miles on this board and the only downfall is the drag. They are suction cups on the water but after a few days you stop feeling the muscle fatigue and just keep paddling.
  8. We are going out mid spring for the 7 or 8 night trip. We have a yeti 35 and a yeti 20 which really isn't a ton of cooler space but I think with the dry ice we will make it work. We really don't have room for any bigger coolers as we are using paddle boards with the coolers having seats mounted to sit on. Pre-cooling the beer in the river makes sense, thanks for that idea.
  9. Its hard to believe that nobody on here has first hand experience eating a fried (or otherwise cooked) Ozark stream mussel. I am really curious to try it now. I have happened across them an untold number of times but never once even crossed my mind to retain and cook them.
  10. Regarding the dry ice, do you just put one block at the bottom of the cooler and it says cold for ballpark how many days?
  11. If all goes according to plan it will be a 7 night and 8 day float. I do have one extra day in case I need to push it to 8 nights. Starting at Ponca and taking out on the White at Shipps. It will just be my wife and I. We have floated all sections but never done it start to finish in one trip. We do freeze jugs and it works great but when you move warm been into a cooler it takes a lot to get it cooled down. A couple ice cold beers in the afternoon goes a long way to boost moral on a long trip. I think we will be good with fresh ice at Gilbert just curious if there were any other options. Ham thanks for the suggestion on Dirst canoe rental I will give them a call.
  12. Hello all, I am floating the Buffalo start to finish. I know I can walk up and get ice at Gilbert. Other than that, is there any other stops where you can walk to get ice? Also, does anyone know if the Gilbert general store will hold a resupply bag that I can stop by and grab when I get fresh ice? Thanks in advance to anyone who provides feedback.
  13. Has anybody heard or learned anything else about this stream? I was scouring the internet trying to find someone talking about this and really can’t find anything. I think the place might be for sale. Could be a good time to try and get on
