Went to HB Marina to check on Tritoon as hadn't been there since before the big rains and the Mrs wanted to take a cruise on this nice day. No fishing today as waiting for impeller housing to be delivered for fishing boat. Here is a photo of water color just north of marina. Color about a mile downlake of 12 bridge is colored but far less muddy. Will take a bit to clear up.

Got out for a few hours yesterday morning, nice calm start but didn't see any top water. Fishing though was very slow. I wasn't out all that long but only caught three. wind really cranked up mid morning. I think I'll head back south next time. Seem to have a bit more luck down there this time of year. Lake is really low and always interesting to see the banks I have been fishing when water is high. Here's a picture the big one of the day. Also the resident Indian Creek eagle was flying overhead which I always enjoy seeing. WT 67

That's where I found them last week, a tapering slope close to channel, but some were shallower as in 18-22 ft. Where do you buy your spinner rig materials/slow death hooks from?

^^^This Will probably use drain plug every 3rd time or so.

Looking to buy a manual oil extractor. There seems to be a ton of them out there of similar type. My question is, are the extraction tubes that you put down the dipstick tube long enough for typical outboard? I'll be using it on a Suzuki 150 and a Yamaha 115. I assume the answer is yes but just thought I'd verify before purchasing.

Dad (92) and brother came down from up north to fish a couple of days. Yesterday was so so. Better today. Started close to Prairie Creek as there was thick fog. Got one small walleye. Moved down lake and didn't see much on sonar. Moved south and found fish of all kinds. Bottom bouncers crawler harness was best in silver or white spinner, bit shallower at 22 ft. Ended day with about 15 walleye (most were shorts), about 15 catfish and several spots and gills. Dad had a 3 ft gar up to boat but broke off before netting. Fun day with family. WT 76.5 deg.

Great outing and good looking fish! I'm still finding them elusive, went out Thursday and could only get bass and catfish. I was able to mark a lot of fish that had walleye indicators, in the same depth zone you were catching but slick calm and bluebirds sky didn't help. Saw the thermocline still there at about 36 ft. 77deg

Tough walleye morning. Water temp dropped about 3-4 deg from last week to 77 deg. That must have messed up the walleye as I went to about 8-10 spots and didn't get one. In fact, I really didn't see much of anything on chart plotter. Not even bluegill. Last spot I did mark fish deep, as in 33-40 ft but I think most were bluegill or yellow bass. Tried different methods and also some back in Creek arms. Did get a few bass but that's it. Had same experience last year - after Labor Day walleye get tough. Time for smallmouth I think!
-
One is better than none! Your lost fish has the telltale indications of a 10 lb walleye.

Never a bad morning to get out and I never tire of seeing the eagles. Might Try slowing down if not biting crawler harness, as in vertical fish plain jig head with half crawler moving at 0.2 mph or drift if wind is right.
-
I think first, more of the water column will be available to them so check out both shallower and deeper than you're used to fishing. Second follow the bait, the shad may head towards Creek arms so check around the mouths. Lastly, I found if you go south of highway 12 bridge they are still to be found until you switch to smallmouth fishing. Take that for what it's worth since I don't really know anything myself LOL.

Same. Family coming 3rd week Sept. It'll be touch and go by then

Put in at Prairie Creek to see where the walleye were lurking. On water about 6:45 or so and fish till about 10:45. I was able to get seven walleye, but only two keepers, biggest about 20 in. Several were at that magical 17.5 inch mark so we'll save them till next year. The key is keep moving. I tried some new areas with success, most fish came from about 30 ft. Crawler harness, but I did have to switch up colors a few times and found they preferred a chrome colored blade. I imagine we got about 3 to 4 weeks and then once thermocline is gone I think they scatter some. We'll see. Water temp slowly dropping, 79°

Bfishn that's exactly what I was thinking of doing. Essentially calibrating your depth and then taking it over deep water. I had that thought watching a Tom Boley YouTube video sharpshoot walleye suspended in 60 ft water. Granted was up north but for me thinking to try some things down here.
-
When only catching smalls, I need to experiment with going out deeper to see if the bigs are there. In reality, they are probably suspending over deep water which make them harder to catch unless you have ffs, which I don't. Might be time to take the war eagle spoon out of the tackle box though and give that a try
