  1. Wish they had been available last week I could have brought some back to STL for you. What if people sent a self addressed stamped envelope to you would that work for individual orders?
  2. Here's the tv schedule. http://www.bassmaster.com/tv-schedule
  3. We were coming off the lake tuesday at Bridgeport and Timmy Horton was backing down the ramp. His boat came off and started to drift out in the lake. We picked him up and took him out to his boat. Seemed like a pretty nice guy. There were several other pro rigs parked there too.
  4. When my boat was new I did the same thing at Truman. We were in hurry to get there on vacation so I applied my block type white decals in a flawless straight line but..............too close together. The WP guy was really nice about it but wrote a warning. I was a PITA to get the old ones off. the rest of the boat passed fine but like Bill says they do check the numbers. nowadays with all the drunken boaters you need to be on the straight and narrow or you will get in trouble.
  5. Never thought about shuffling and didn't even know about it until I read it on here. I fish because I enjoy it. Some days its just that fishing.......not catching. Some days catch one on almost every cast. I like to keep some fish for the table but its not about the numbers for me or any of my friends. I like to learn new ways to fish and have picked up some tips on here, especially from Phil and his videos like jig fishing and jig and float.
  6. We have a 2 1/2 acre pond on our farm and by far the best bait for all species in there is plain old earthworms. Micro jigs under a float do ok but you will catch a fish on every cast with worms. I can go over there after work and in ten minutes catch 3 or 4 keeper bluegill for dinner.
  7. We had a buck like that on our farm in the 2012 season. I called the MDC agent in our county and asked him if we should shoot it. after describing what it was doing he left it up to us but said many times they heal and adapt to the injury. Months later we got that deer on our camera and he was nice and fat and growing a new rack. During last years rut he was out chasing the ladies so the agent was right after all. They are resilient animals and will either survive or perish without our help.
  8. Good for Buster. Sounds like he handed it to the great pro whoever he was.
  9. Not a problem, don't need one.
  10. I have helped out at the event at Lillley's and it is a great thing to do for our vets. I am an hour west of STL and have a pond full of fish but that is probably too far from Springfield for you.
  11. Wish we lived closer I would have liked to have heard Buster. Bull shoals can be tough lake to fish and he is sure darn good at it.
  12. Just like Missouri.
  13. Good articles Phil. I always enjoy reading Brent's column when you put them up. He seems to have a strong interest in Taneycomo and trout fishing and he tells a good story.
  14. Just curious, are there any restaurants or bar/grill place to eat in Portage any more? I have not been there for years.
  15. I'll tell you a good one that is a different problem. Last year while casting a brand new spinning reel a screw came out and several pieces of the reel fell off. Where? Right in the lake of course. I have also had the same issue you have with the locking nuts and I just keep tightening them. The plastic ones do wear after a while and will do that.
  16. I have had a tracker pro team 185 for ten years and it has been a great boat. Has a 90 Merc and that pushes it plenty fast. Cost a lot less than some of the high end boats and works just as well. I fish for trout, cat fish, white bass, bass, crappie, jug fishing, drift fishing and just about any way you can fish. We troll and snag out of it. for my money it has been a good buy.
  17. That' s a shame about the eye Phil. He's a good dog and he and my little beagle get along great. Good video and seconds on a crappie video.
  18. Have not fished it for years but used to jug fish it a lot. We caught just about everything in the river on jugs with cut bait, hot dogs and worms. Used to be a good spot in early summer.
  19. We used to buy the roe sacks from Steele. he was a heck of a character. Had a lot of big mounts in the shop and I asked him where he caught them and he said "in the mouth". We all about fell on the floor laughing. Hated to see that shop go, real old school. That was almost 25 years ago at Lilley's and we fished the sacks off the docks and slayed the trout.
  20. Tell her she is a good writer. Always enjoy those stories and always well written.
  21. Bill, it was in spring at the tail end of the white bass run and we were chasing whites. The run was over so we were after any that had hung around. Also caught blass bass and small mouth. While we did not get into them like you do during the run we still had a good time and brought home fish. Plus learned alot about that end of the lake.
  22. I fished with a guide on Bulll Shoals last year. He fished alot but if he changed lures and caught fish he changed mine too. I learned a lot of technique just watching him. He also was easy to talk with and answered a ton of my dumb questions. He was also good about watching me and making suggestions which when I tried worked. One thing for sure he got us on fish and didn't waste time fishing areas that were not productive.
  23. See my post in lower bull shoals. I went with Buster on that trip.
  24. Go in April for the white bass run. You can stay at Lilley's which is dog friendly and be on Taney in minutes or the ramp on Bull Shoals in about 20 minutes. Lilley's can give you some good guide recommendations. I did the white bass deal on bull last year and it was a blast. We also caught smallmouth and largemouth but the whites were really fun. We'll be doing that again in April and bringing the boat and the dog to Lilley's.
