  1. railroads are a minimum of 50 feet from center of the track. that is what they pay tax on.
  2. Usually wet pull long ends then force or squeeze knot together before tugging tag ends snug
  3. I had a rough patch decided the fluro was cutting it. Never decided if it was line or if was knot tying. Wish i was going to be up that way soon to help each other...hobbled up for now. Not sure which video you are using, i do push the knot together beforie pulling tag ends????? Sorry no help.
  4. I was having that issue until Ham gave me a lesson. I was forming the loop with nano and wrapping with the mono. I reversed the process loop mono/floro wrap with nano only one failure at knot in about 3 years use....but will give Lefty's a try.
  5. That is good thinking, however... the boats Ham and I run are 20 42 fiberglass trout boats, they will "float" more shallow that say a 1752 or 1848 Alweld or Blazer, but will not run on plane quite as shallow. That said when funds allow I plan on adding a 1752 or 1848 Alweld to my fleet, with the Tohatsu 25 jet (40/25) to stay under the HP limits on the 11pt and upper current. Likely will use Fred at Current River Marine. Troutt and Sons are good people just do not have the Tohatsu.... g
  6. HP? Price?
  7. I have a 6 and a 7.,,, my 6'6" fell out of the kayak in the bend below Bee Bluff on the Buffalo at 753 cfs will replace but they are all quite a bit different rods actually fishing. I like the 7 best but a bit long for a short fat man in a kayak.
  8. Hope all is good with your Wife Pete
  9. Shoot you two guys are excited to catch bait with some sort of Japanese buggy whip.... a bull red may be overload....
  10. Man that is terrible. My wife was a special education teacher also, those kids will miss her too. It will be hard but do not let it overwhelm you. Take one day at a time, it is like eating a elephant, big task but happens one bite at a time. You are in our prayers. Les & Peggy

Think maybe sear it on the Kamado? Not sure what a Nicoise or Grenache are will have to google.... or just settle for some romaine and a whiskey ditch.... Thanks

    What's Cooking?

My buddy just got back from Texas quail hunting, brought me several. I need to find a good way to cook them low carb. As a youngin I would go shoot some before breakfast, fresh fried quail with biscuit and gravy sure sounds good....have been informed I need to eat more healthy more often... Suggestions?
  14. That's just what I was thinking...LOL Micropterus has forgot more than I will ever know about the science of fish.
  15. Man I wish I could make it up there, been a MSA member a few years never made a meeting, would love to see the presentation. Littleredfisherman is impressed.
  16. I would rent a boat before I would take my "lake" boat on the white. Rent likely less than deductible on repairs.... As Phil said can be done if careful and plan an exit strategy if the water falls out. The area I would fish this time of year would be either below the closed area at the dam or Rim Shoals. Likely rim shoals....but your lake boat would be iffey below the first island. I would suggest contacting www.rimshoals.com and see if they would cut you a deal for a multiple day rent, good place to stay good place to fish, good folks to help. They can help in many ways, if you take your boat and low water they water taxi you to the island very reasonable. Or use your lake boat pretty good in the hole around rim in lower water but in my mind the better fish are usually around/below first island.Just my two cents.

  20. Gavin, I understand you mess with canoes a lot, but at least look at the video before being so sure.
  21. I have used G Flex multiple times, I usually handle like fiberglass, only use kevlar cloth. Wrench look at the videos, taking a chainsaw and cutting a yak in half is a bit more than cosmetic: https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=8694&familyName=WEST+System+G%2Fflex+Liquid+Epoxy+Kits good stuff, there are vdieos at the bottom very similar to what you have. https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=8694&familyName=WEST+System+G%2Fflex+Liquid+Epoxy+Kits

    What's Cooking?

I am not very domesticated. The worst test Ladybear has had was when I used the shop vac to clean the chimney.... another tip, it works well but get a swimming pool vac hose and do it from the top outside, not inside(make sure no laundry on line).... we are still finding stuff, that was 8 years ago... not sure I have been fully forgiven for that one.... she is tough...

    What's Cooking?

Just a tip to the younger members, you do not have to load the dishwasher wrong..... simply use the liquid dish soap rather than that powder stuff.... get clean dishes, all the floors in the house cleaned and barred permanent from even looking at the dishwasher...The front load washer is off limits also..... wish I would have had a camera when the suds came out the front door of the house when she opened it... We are all in this together.
  24. Having been in the water a few times in cold weather, I have broke ice to get the boat near the bank to get back in, broke ice to get back to boat ramp. If you can get out of the water quickly, which is a chore with lots of clothes, they will often freeze before your skin gets wet. On at least 3 occasions I have had to stand by a fire for several minutes to thaw enough to unbutton my shirt but was warm and dry underneath.. Not sure if I am older and wiser or just lazy anymore.
  25. A few years back I was fishing a heated dock in your neck of the woods and a couple of guys placed their frabil minnow bucket in the lake....it was very cold.... they fished with dead minnows the rest of the day.... I assumed due to the colder water but we all know what assume will do.....
