  1. I would Love to have one, they are great to fish out of....Just need someone to row the darn thing while I fish. Have a buddy in Libby, MT and another in Alaska who "love" to row and run a boat.... not me but sure enjoy fishing while they do. g
  2. Not to start a rivalry as I am a member of both TU (White River Chapter) and Missouri State Trout Fisherman's Association, proud to be affiliated with both. The Springfield Chapter is planning a meeting at the Branson Lion's Club, September 1, 2016 from 6-9 the following is from the MSTFA August newsletter: "Branson: If you were at last month's club meeting, you already know this. We have determined that we will expand the Springfield chapter into Branson with the expectation that they will petition to break away from Springfield in a year or so. The executive committee met to discuss the issue and voted to approve the plan We have formed a Branson committee for oversight. I then presented it to the club at the members' meeting. There were a lot of questions and uncertainties about how it would work. Basically, Branson will not be separate from the Springfield chapter, but will be an integral part of the Springfield Chapter. There will be one budget, one club but two meetings, one in Springfield and one in Branson. If they ever want to hold a fundraiser, it will be a club fundraiser. If the Branson group want to control a "Branson" line in the budget, (perhaps to hold a social function in Branson), it would be up to the club as a whole to approve or not. They will not have separate officers but can serve in any of those functions if they want. One exception is that the oversight committee will appoint someone from the Branson area to hold monthly meetings there in lieu the club president or vice-president when necessary. We will hold the first Branson meeting on September 1 at the Branson Lion's Club meeting room. Hopefully, our current members will carpool down so that we can tie flies, teach fly tying, maybe rod building, meet and greet, tell fishing stories, etc. during our social hour. I'll conduct the meeting to explain who we are and how we operate. I hope to have Russ Doughty available to discuss Healing Waters there as well as Ralph Eichholz to discuss our MSU fly fishing class. We'll hold another meeting in October, then have our chili feed at Lake Taneycomo which they will be a part of. I think that timing is good: a couple of recruiting meetings, then a social function...." Both groups have good programs and good folks to fish with and knowledge to share. http://dev.mtfa-springfield.org/ http://www.whiterivertu.com/ Hope the Branson TU gets going, we are all in this together.
  3. Likely get Bob to help he is a expert on complaining and mixing drinks
  4. In addition to his carp addiction....
  5. What is the width and length of the table not sure it will fit in my spot?
  6. A bottom bouncer with a worm harness is very effective for Gill on Stockton, with a walleye every once in a while. I am wanting to come try it at Tucker, just hot, and summer time weekends my patience is too weak.
  7. Fortunately I had the good fortune to do that, thanks to you. I am a canoe guy...BUT the Kayaks have their place, ie floating higher water than I likely should, where the canoe would take water over the gunwales, or open water that has potential for waves or wakes that might swamp the canoe. After paddling both the Tarpon and the Coosa, I told Ham that I did not want to hurt his feelings but I preferred the Tarpon. I asked if he was interested in selling it, he did. I also caught a Pescador on sale at Academy for $399 so added one for family. As for the seat, I have a small inflatable cushion that I slip under with just a little inflation and it works wonders. I am 5'10" 230 and the boats preform well for me. But again I am a canoe guy...I do have several friends who have asend and like them, all who have the SOT have broke at least one of the latches to the lids....can not buy new latch, have to get the entire lid assembly, $50 plus... they need a better latch or to sell the parts...IMO g

  11. 254 cafe at the triangle in Gamley is very good. Giant Tenderloin, is great, good breakfast. Luckys Sports bar on 64b near Pittsburg is great for supper. Vickie and Tim's Grub and Pub, north side of Carsons Corner is good also. g
  12. A water and sewer hook up would be nice, you may need a meter on the electric, a fire pit would also be nice..... As for the airstream in my opinion this is what not to do: https://www.facebook.com/PerrymanAirstream/ Takes up too much floating and fishing time... g
  13. yes, I know there is one for sure on the east boat ramp in the cove behind the marina. May be one on the west ramp not sure. http://www.recreation.gov/camping/map_of_Cape_Fair/r/campgroundMap.do?page=map&search=site&contractCode=NRSO&parkId=71070

  15. My favorite is floating and canoe camping on the gravel. We have a 5th wheel, I do double pull but do not go too far from home that way. We take the 5th wheel out west "modified boondock" run the generator every few days to charge batteries, have a carrier for the little motorcycle on back, wife can drive down to town for supplies etc. I am not left a foot. Nice to have a shower etc. lots less work than the old wall tent. (She went down in those 60 mph winds last deer season) g
  16. Al, is there a name for this move as I might find a video? Having trouble getting my head around it. Thanks g
  17. Great Report, glad you were able to get away for a bit. I need to get over there. I hit my local creek Sunday afternoon took several dips to keep me cool enough to fish but the fish bit well. I hear the 11 pt. has finally cleared up.....next. g
  18. Hope you do a better job with her than you did Bob..... g
  19. Might add many more septic systems and a well drilled on every 5 acre in my area. The other thing I am noticing is siltation being heavy. I blame it on the round up ready corn and soybeans folks are no tilling crops in places that should be left in grass and trees the ground cover is killed and the topsoil deposited in the creek, the rock will follow as it did with logging. Just a shame, Mother Earth has a terrible human infestation....
  20. You are so right, on both folks met on this forum and Richard. Everyone I have fished with from the forum have taught me something and have been a pleasure to fish with. Richard is a stand up guy, good fisherman and a pleasure to be around. Your post started me thinking of folks I have met through this forum and fished with, it simply got too long to post. You are correct our days are all numbered, and fishing days are too few. To quote Bill Ring "If you are too busy to go fishing, you are too busy." g
  21. Floated a SW MO stream Saturday and Sunday, did very well on SM and goggle eye. When I came in Sunday had two voice mail crappie reports from Truman, so Monday morning headed out. Unlike the weekend which generated the good reports it was clear bluebird skies and HOT. Fished Cedar trees in 12-20 fow, fish were caught about 10 ft down the best places were near channel swings, it seemed the fish would suspend in deeper open water and move in and out of the trees to feed. By afternoon the wind had gotten out of hand in my area so moved to more open water brush piles to finish a limit. It was tough slow all day deal for a limit. Tuesday was a bit cooler but the same pattern keep tree hoping until too windy then move to brush. The best tree in two days produced 4 fish, the best brush pile 2.... Key keep moving. I fished a minnows and jigs. All fish but one came on the minnow, the one was on a chartreuse carrot stick. Hope this helps someone else. Now off to Stockton to hunt walleye. g
  22. Aces Man! My baby is 29 and I still love huntin and fishing with my boys! g
  23. There is a topic further down in this thread that lists the times and dates of the Tourneys. PM Shockley32 he will hook you up.
  24. Sure parts would be slow. As for Golf, my boys played it, said it was decent but did not finish as they ran out of balls...not sure if they simply did not take enough or just lost that many....I know nothing.
