The rules are the rules. It is what it is. OU vs. Texas AM will be an outstanding game. NIU may embarrass themselves or not. I watched the ND/OU game. Do not assume SEC dominance can make up for Te'o.

Wisconsin has the same challenges as Arkansas. They are not one of the top four in a quality conference. Despite this he has had them ranked and in good bowls. If he can recreate that scenario at Arkansas, he is better than a good hire. In addition, he is a defense first type guy, a must in the SEC.

I am a fan of do nothing. Old Charlie Brewer style. Small, short (3-4") baits reeled so slow they bump the bottom. Short worms, half Senkos, Fish Doctors.1/16 head. 6# line. They work on bad days and kill on good days.

Good heavens I love an intelligent discussion! I was a long time Maxima fan until I found YoZuri Hybrid. Stronger and smaller line at the same basic line price. Tackle Tour's reviews have loved YoZuri. I fish topwater almost every day and the YoZuri is fine. For day to day I fish the 10 pound test green. For walleye crawler harnesses, I use 12 pound clear.

When the water is cold ... 55 degrees or less, I have had the best luck fishing Charlie Brewer style. Simple, small jig heads with short straight worms, paddle tail grubs, and small profile jigs with deer hair and salt pork eels. Reel just fast enough to keep the bait moving along the bottom.

I bet you would be totally happy with it. My previous jig rod was the same Low Rider only 6'6". I really liked it and only retired it for a handmade. -

Ran into a salty fisherman I know at the tire store this afternoon. He had a couple on a super spook and buzz bait early but told me the slick water hurt him after that.

I matched the Revo MGX (it says 7:1 but fished like a 6.3:1) to the rod I built. I was going for the ultimate light weight rod. I fish 10 pound YoZuri and feel as if I am throwing nothing on nothing. Then I get hit and I hold on.

Duck, I know the feeling. Any pointer, a red or white setter, or a springer is too much to train once running becomes too much. Part of the reason my dogs now (Corgis) have legs about 3 inches long.

I own a Lew's Tournament. I also own a Revo SX and an Okuma Helios. As much as I loved the original BB1 (I wish I still had it so I could look at it and remember) I believe either of the others I own and use are better reels.

Bull Shoals has so many options. One would be to stay at Gastons, just below the dam, and enjoy a unique experience. Another would be to book Mike Worley and fish walleye as well as bass. A third would be to explore the caves/springs/national forests in the area.

wc: The Cabela's knock off of the reef runner works as well, if not better, than the original. With the price difference, I call it a best buy.

Bill. and others: The micros are great and the way to go, IF the guides spiral to the underside of the rod. Otherwise, you need too many to keep the line off the blank. My top water rod is hand made. I bought a SCIV St. Croix blank on sale and used recoil micro guides in a spiral wrap to match the no fore grip,SK2 Fuji handle. Because I am short and walk a bait with the tip down, I used a 6' blank rated at medium power with a fast action. Frankly, it is not enough rod to throw a full size spook, but I can throw and work a popper or my beloved Top Dollars quite well.
