  1. Glad you joined the forum! The four corner area of Mo/AR/KA/OK offers many good choices. Illinois River, Elk River, White River above and below Beaver, 10 Mile Creek, Little Sugar Creek, Crooked Creek, are merely examples. I hope you enjoy.
  2. Tough days happen. Next time, right?
  3. What price range? How long time frame? Serious questions, as I have suggestions. BTW 6 foot works better in a canoe. 6.5 foot fits the pontoon better. Which is your choice.
  4. I reached that point when I had an Xpress. Good boat, but beat you and the electronics to death. My next was an Alumacraft 16.5 Navigator tiller with a 75HP ETEC. Never should have sold the boat. (Long story involving health and wife) After that I had a Lund Rebel windshield boat with a 90HP ETEC. Were I to buy another boat, in your circumstances, I would buy a used Alumacraft, Lund, or Crestliner single console v hull somewhere between 16.5 feet and 19 feet. I would have Wrench find me a fairly new ETEC to power it, and I would drop serious money on the scopes and electronics. If I had the urge for new, look at the Vexus side console or center console and have Wrench find the near new ETEC motor to fit it. My $.02. Good Luck.

    What's Cooking?

    Hoisin basted meatloaf tonight.
  6. You are right. Balance means much. When I make a rod, I epoxy lead weights inside the butt end of the blank before I install the handle. I has the same effect as having the large knob at the handle end of the sword. It moves the balance point closer to your hand. Casting becomes less effort at minimal cost to the total weight of the rod.
  7. You and Got Muddy did a bit of that in the past, didn't you.

  12. I have had a rainbow, brown, and brook day, but never one that included a cut. Color me green.

    What's Cooking?

The last year we had Maya, a rescue mutt the daughters adopted just before they left for college, I roasted a chicken per week. The carcass and the offal went into the stock pot. The stock was what we used on her kibble with small bits of the meat and organs. Toward the end Nancy would get on the floor and feed it to her by hand.

    What's Cooking?

Hey guys! Please do not let this thread die! We can redo recipes at this point. No one has the stamina to go back and read all the past posts. Mushroom marinara on bucatini with fresh shredded Romano cheese and basil.
  15. After multiple hooks in the hands and fingers, I began to use a Boga grip to protect me. I will be darn to suggest a tool to save you feet. Oh. Wait. Shoes?
  16. Are you running a Lund, Alumacraft, Lowe, or other? The layout is similar to, but larger, than the boat I had.

    Fish roe

At the very last minute, as your fish fillet is on its second side and ready to take off the heat, throw the roe on the griddle or in the pan for 30 to 60 seconds. Serve the fish with the roe, parsley, lemon, and salt as a garnish.

    HBD Phil!

and thank you for all you do.
  21. My wife has a Bernina sew and quilt machine that costs more than small pickup. She has her older machine still as a backup and "mobile" version. She goes to sewing retreats, you see? Last of all, she has a serger. Look it up. She uses it to finish hems on certain kinds of garments. How did we wind up in this situation? Well, every time I bought a boat or upgraded electronics, I could not very well say no to her hobby. BTW, she has a motto. "She who dies with the most material wins."
  22. I have fished a WP on a lake and not the rage swimmer. Why don't you try a WTD bait? You don't need to spend lots of money, and one blowup will make your trip.

    England?

Of course not. Until now, the posts are merely warming up to eviscerate some poor, unknowing progressive who posts to make his or her or their point. If he, she, or they does not post, the hounds will circle on the bed, check for snakes, flop, and go to sleep.
