  1. At Beaver channel depth is 23 to 25 feet right now. At Houseman the channel depth is 15 to 17. The key is to stay in the channel and to be aware there are two spots between those two points where depth becomes less.
  2. Beaver town to Blue Springs (just below Houseman) is prime white bass and walleye water. Especially from March 1 to April 15. Where and what pattern will depend on the weather and the weather trends.
  3. I have a Pro - love it.
  4. QB Since I took all my walleye to a fish fry/wake late last fall I have been in a deprived state. Yesterday (Saturday) I taught school on a snow day makeup so I could not go out. You know what today has been like. I do not blame you for releasing, but I must vote with F&F on this one.
  5. Stop and say hello.
  6. I fly a tiller steer Alumacraft Navigator 165 with a 75 hp ETEC. Black and silver. Best boat I've ever had.
  7. Thank you. I just didn't want to run the risk of $100 over the side and in the drink.
  8. The break is now 2 days instead of a week. Unless the state decides to grant a waiver we will be in session through June 12 or so.
  9. QB - the high dirty water made for some excellent shallow water fishing. One of the best smallmouth I have caught on TR came that year out of the picnic table area at Big M.
  10. That 2011 fish was 32 inches and 13.75 pounds. I caught another a week or so later the went 10 pounds even.
  11. 2011 was a rotten year for fishing.
  12. I use these on walleye night crawler rigs. They would work well to keep the plastic where it belongs. http://www.basspro.com/Bait-Button-Dispenser-or-Refill/product/10226945/?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&om_mmc=shopping_googleproductextensions&kpid=10226945%26adc=pg_315_11128_5282c130e4b006f67e95d707_36315096631
  13. +1
  14. Alex, what I actually did was to suggest using coastlock snaps. A weight and a hook fit well in the large opening of the snap. It simplifies making the rig.
  15. I've caught high 4's in Oklahoma and on Table Rock. I cannot imagine 5+, much less 10+.
  16. Between the Ned and the jikka, you may give up other methods for soft plastic entirely.
  17. But Jeff Fletcher (JD's son) caught it and he did have a Borders permit and was from Missouri in a Missouri licensed boat. But it would no be a record in Missouri. Things are much more clear now, aren't they?
  18. Ignore the shoreline. Someone once told me its only there to hold the water in. Oh wait a minute, that was Bill. When I say ignore the shoreline, what I mean is that the places I fish up here at this end don't even have enough water to fish as deep as some of you do sometimes. When I read "in the tree tops at 40' in 110' of water" I don't even know where that is. My point is the fish will be somewhere, not always where we can find them, but somewhere. When a pattern changes on me, I force myself to remember the teaching of Buck Perry. Start shallow and work deeper.
  19. Al, as I have said before, you write beautifully. No man could wish for a better piece about him after he is gone. Losing a parent is the only thing worse than losing a spouse or a child. You have my thoughts and best wishes.
  20. Now the fun part: Our lakes are rarely the same lake two years in a row. 930' one year, 910' the next, 934' a year or two later, and 920' to follow. I caught the largest walleye I've ever landed in a location that, right now, has one foot of water covering it. My largest TR bass came from a tree top that, right now, is 30+ feet under water. Just because you map once - do not think you are done. Right F&F?
  21. Thought I would add this (one of my old Facebook Notes) to illustrate the recipe above and add a few little things. Over The Top Meatloaf Everybody and their aunt has a meatloaf recipe. Alton Brown, Pioneer Woman, my Aunt Patsy ... I usually throw a few things together and don't worry too much. However, I wanted to combine a few tricks I've picked up from different sources and use them all in a definitive meat loaf. Ingredients: 2.5 pounds Boston blend ground meat (60% beef, 40% pork) 1 large onion diced fine a stalk of celery diced very fine a carrot diced very fine 4 large button mushrooms diced very fine 2 cloves garlic minced 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 2 teaspoons kosher salt 1 teaspoon Old Bay 1 teaspoon Cavenders Greek seasoning 1 large egg beaten 1/4 cup plain yoghurt large splash Worcestershire sauce 1 cup panko 1 Tablespoon olive oil First Loaf Paint and Wrap: 1 or 2 Tablespoons Yellow mustard 6 strips thin sliced bacon Second Loaf Paint: 1/2 cup ketchup 1 Tablespoon balsamic vinegar 1 rounded Tablespoons brown sugar 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 teaspoon dry mustard sriracha or Franks Hot Sauce to taste Method Do your vegetable dicing or throw it in a food processor and pulse until diced fine (don't make a paste!) Gently saute the vegetables in the olive oil until translucent. Add half the Old Bay, Cavenders, salt, and pepper as they sweat. Allow the vegetables to cool to room temp and place in a large bowl. Add the panko and mix. Combine the yoghurt, Worcestershire sauce, Franks, and the beaten egg and mix. Add that to the vegetables and panko. Add the ground meat and mix without compacting the mixture. I use my bare hands because my fingers can break apart the lumps as I mix. Season with the remaining Old Bay and Cavenders. Put a piece of parchment on a tray pan and place the meat mixture in the middle. Gently shape a rectangle loaf without pressing the meat tightly together. Use a pastry brush to paint the outside of the loaf with yellow mustard. Lay the bacon strips side by side over the loaf and tuck the ends in. Heat the oven to 350 degrees and bake 30 minutes. Paint the exterior with the second loaf paint and bake until done, approximately 30 minutes more. Remove from the oven and paint the loaf once more and rest 15 minutes before slicing.
  22. I had a Mercury 15 with prop. It worked well for me. The advice on drag chains is excellent. Always have a spre prop in your boat and another in your truck.
  23. Hope this helps: http://www.ozarkanglers.com/table-rock/trolling-for-walleye/
  24. We had thunder sleet here of 1 to 2 inches, followed by about 6 inches of very fine/light snow. On Monday (today) some of it melted, but not all. Monday and Tuesday are no school days. That makes day 18 and Day 19 lost to snow. End day for school is now June 12.
  25. Sportsmans or Rim Shoals - one above and one just below.
