Warning, if you're out fishing and needing gas, don't count on getting it at Baxter Marina....the place is never open and it's been that way since just after Labor Day. The new Marina ownership is receiving numbers of critical reviews on Google and the new owners are getting richly deserved criticism for many things. It really makes you appreciate the many years of the Pollards owning the Marina when you could always count on being able to gas up there through the last weekend in Oct. and sometimes well beyond.

After seeing the size of the ugly Billboard, I'd have to guess yes. -

Thanks a lot Johhny-you-know-who for erecting the large, ugly Billboard facing Southbound 160/13 Highway just North of the Stone County limits that touts your damnable Wake/Surf boats with a huge illustration of some selfish Dude "surfing" (boy, is that a misnomer) behind the enormous, boat-swamping wake of one of your blasted, annoying Wake Boats you peddle. Kinda' counterproductive and hypocritical isn't it since it so seriously, negatively and even dangerously impacts those of us trying to enjoy a little fishing without taking water over the bow's, gunwale's and stern's of our boats from this self-centered activity so just one person can get their "kicks". After all, Johhny-boy, it was the Anglers who put your little Empire on its way to what it has grown into to begin with...or have you forgotten that already in your never-ending greedy need for more and more money ? -
Thank you Gentlemen. My views exactly. What has always ticked me off is that some "organization" (proven, established and independently audited Charities are the exception) is making a handy profit by using a public resource and negatively impacting the public's fishery ! "Negatively impacting" ? Yes, absolutely and definitely. If you're off on a Monday and can get out on the Lake, go visit a weigh-in site a day later and take note of all the "floaters" that, in order to line someone's pockets, were released there after being transported in a livewell to some weigh-in Circus-event like what they stage say at BP In Branson. And if there is a "release boat" be sure and notice all the highly unusual number of dead, bloated floaters that are feeding the Turtle and Buzzard populations back in the Coves. I've fished and now lived-on this reservoir for a long time (1974) and this money-making nonsense has to be controlled and limited in some way soon by the blind-eyed MDC. I will only support any Derby or Tournament when strict rules are in place and enforced like what a local, exemplary Bass Club does where they measure and photograph the catch at boat-side and then release the fish at the site of the catch. Of course that would eliminate the profitable Carnival that occurs at the weigh-in sites...duh !

Hot diggity ! A bunch of Basses (sic) is gonna' get free rides in a hydro-blaster away from home and turned loose at the weigh-in sites or plopped into strange waters from the release boat(s) (if there are any). Sign up here for free transport ......

Great idea for a start-up !! Hope they can help out Anglers who own one of the "Obsolete" (per Lowrance) older units that Lowrance frequently gives-up on, refuses to repair and forces the consumer to buy a new unit.

You might find it interesting to read this article on the subject and especially the two posts in the "comment" section accompanying the article. If you have strong feelings on this subject maybe you'd like to add your two cents too ? http://www.news-leader.com/story/news/2017/09/19/blunt-asks-corps-halt-proposed-shoreline-revisions-table-rock-lake/682876001/ -
Same here out where Little and Big Indian enter the White by Baxter Marina. The entire Lake, no I'm not exaggerating, was covered in every direction with schools of Shad two days ago after 5 P.M. and there was zero sign of anything chasing or feeding on them. I kept waiting and waiting to see something feed on them and it never happened. It's been a while since I've seen that many schools on the surface all at once. And they stayed up until a little bit of wind made them hard to see for about 20 minutes and when it died down and the water got glassy-flat again, they were still there until the Sun went down over the furthest ridge.

There are several reports coming in from areas in Florida about enhanced damages to large, industrial roofs that had Solar Panels installed vs. those adjacent sections that didn't. One Miller/Coors beer distributor in Ft. Myers recounted how his employees who had no where else to go were sheltering in his warehouse when sections of the roof that they had Solar Panels installed on started ripping off in the high winds. He moved them over to a another section that had no Panels on them and the roofing there stayed intact. Not until after the storm had passed did they realize what sections of the roof were destroyed. He later posted that his Insurance Adjuster was finding the same results in other areas and an investigation was certainly going to be conducted. "Multistate MillerCoors wholesaler, J.J. Taylor, has facilities throughout the state of Florida. As we reported last week, the distributor had established a communication plan well ahead of time to account for employees. But of course, nothing can prepare one for a storm of this magnitude. "We went out front early, had really good communication the with whole staff, and I think that paid off," principal John J. Taylor III told BBD. "We had over 150 people -- employees families -- at both Fort Myers and Tampa." He says everything was going along swimmingly in Fort Myers -- "until solar panels started ripping off the roof and taking big chunks of roof with it." It was a brand new building addition, to boot. " "But we got people into the part of building that didn’t have solar panels," John said. "All of our employees that we can reach have been accounted for." -
And that's exactly why I won't eat Agent Orange Catfish from Nam at any of those joints. We've stopped patronizing any of those restaurants. There are still plenty of American Catfish Farmers to buy from but the contaminated crap that is raised/fed on god-knows-what from Nam is always cheaper.....and not good for you. Catfish Cabin in Eureka Springs prides itself on serving only U.S. raised catfish. Always check the origin of the catfish you consume and reject the junk from SE Asia. Recently, the USDA has discovered those imported fish are loaded with Antibiotics that the growers use in large quantities.

Exactly my thought. Rather than spend some outrageous amounts of money (probably from some tax-supported, ding-a-ling Government "grant" ) trying to raise and sell a game-fish, go cast your nets in the Mississippi, Missouri or Illinois Rivers and take all you want of the Silver and Bighead invasive Carp. Or...even better tasting....raise Bluegill to the size where you just put the whole fish in a meat grinder and then deep-fry the results which cooks out all the scales, bones and other undesirables.

Not sure because I haven't been on that Ocean (LOZ) since about 1999 but aren't the typical Wake Boats too small to be on that churned-up Lake ? The really large vessels that routinely operate up there don't seem to be operated by those types seen in most, not all, of the Wake Boats around here.
-
With ever-increasing numbers of incidents involving the safety of young swimmers in the water being threatened by these Wake Boat operators, you know it's just a matter of time before a serious incident occurs and its all going to be caused by the lawlessness and "I own the Lake" attitudes routinely displayed by this class of boat owner. Either someone in the water is going to be run over or a fed-up citizen is going to respond with violence. When it occurs, and sadly, it eventually will, only then will there be a huge outcry about these inconsiderate jerks.

Just a couple of years ago I read an article on high-performance Sunglasses. It stressed the importance of NOT using spray-on eyeglass cleaning-fluid on them due to the stuff's tendency of removing different kinds of coatings the Manufacturers place on those high-dollar lens surfaces. Don't know if that is still true but on my Maui's and Costas I will only rinse them in water, sometimes with a little soap included but only a mild soap like Ivory, and then dry them on a Terry-cloth towel.

Most Attorneys will include as many parties as possible so....organizers, participants, MO Highway/Water Patrol for the permit....etc. etc. You'd think that incredible amount of dock damage would unite LOZ shoreline Property Owners and incite them to form a group pursuing compensation for their losses. If only people would stick together they could put and end to this type of irresponsible property-damage not only on LOZ but elsewhere. One thing for sure, if these docks are Insured, any Insurance Co. Underwriter with a brain will greatly increase the Premiums for LOZ Dock-Insurance once these claims start rolling in and the identical date of when the losses were incurred all points to the date of this Shoot-out thing ! -

Sounds like an opportunity for a hungry Attorney to file a lawsuit ! $10M in property damage ? Charity or not (which needs to be audited ) that event is a public nuisance and that amount of damage proves it. -

The "Shoot Out" ( which is now televised across Missouri in major markets ! ) is a single boat at a time running for top speed past a radar gun. LMAO while watching it when numerous boats with ginormous engines could only attain top speeds in the 50mph range when accelerating from a partially on-plane start over a 3/4 mile course. $200 Entry fee and an additional $50.00 for each subsequent, "timed" pass ! The organizers eliminated Bass Boats from competing by having the rule state "nothing with a hull shorter than 22 feet. ( Guess the high-dollar, loud-boat, owners didn't want to be embarrassed) I can't say for sure exactly when all that ridiculous wake-caused water was in the picture....just assuming (?) it was taken when all the lined-up spectator boats left the area at the end of the event from where they ran the "shoot-out". -
After about 15 minutes or less, they'll be too busy trying to help the teensy, on-board bilge pump by frantically bailing with anything they have handy just to stay afloat. And that's not limited to just the Dam area !
