  1. First I’m not discount a dam thing they did. It was awesome. I wish I could have been one of the people with them. And I don’t know for 100% for sure but I can read and when I was much younger I enjoyed reading history about explorers. L&C were explorers, amongst other things, but they were not tasked with carrying gear. That’s why they had people.
  2. L&C didn't drag anything. They had "people" for that.
  3. Yeah it's a bit tricky but possible. Raise it all the way up and then you need a way of blocking the springs so they don't release any more tension and then you can remove the cables. If you have to unwind springs it get's a bit more difficult and dangerous but it's still possible. After going thru 5 or 6 springs on my garage door at $150 each installed I decided to learn to do it myself. Bought the springs and the right tools and haven't had a spring break since then.
  4. My daughter thought that was hilarious. She sang that song at a school talent show and thought a lot of the lyrics were weird.
  5. Obviously the worst white bass fisherman on the planet.
  6. Couple of big groups flew right over downtown Springfield this afternoon making all kinds of noise.
  7. Or the D. Just depends on which team you’re on.
  8. And yours is @snagged in outlet 3 yet you fish a lot of different areas. Maybe mine means that I'm a small guy??
  9. SECRETS
  10. Mysteriously no, she was in a pretty good mood. Even with my behavior the previous day. Confusing.
  11. I was out grilling some burgers at the start of the game and could hear something cackling up above.
  12. Officially Sock, truly Sauk, but most people, including myself, use sack.
  13. That's when trout park season opens for me.

You know the other side of this is the not fishing part. You might be the greatest tournament fisherman that ever lived but if you really want to make it in that sport you have to have sponsors. And sponsors want appearances. You are going to spend more time in your jersey inside a building than what you will on the actual water. I think that's what takes the real toll on your life. And if you aren't great at schmoozing the masses then it really doesn't matter how good you are at fishing. My buddy that was my best man in my wedding is an NHRA Top Fuel Dragster driver and it has taken a toll on his life. He loves it. But it still has taken a toll.
  15. So it was horrible customer service. Usually is.

I don't think I would encourage anyone to be a pro anything. But I do encourage kids to find something they like to do and push forward to do it. You may not be successful but there are good lessons to be learned down every path. I have this struggle right now in my household. I have a 15 year old that wants to be a rock star and her mother that thinks that goal is unrealistic. Hell yeah it's unrealistic. That's what dreams are. And that's where greatness comes from. You just have to support those dreams and make sure that they know that there has to be a backup plan. Maybe they don't make it as a pro bass fisherman but along the way they develop relationships that give them an opportunity to do something in the field of fishing. My dad encouraged me to fish professionally. But as even as I started to see the possibility of it happening he made sure that I knew that a backup plan was important and taking care of my new family was far more important than that. When I was ready to quit the tournament thing he offered me a new truck and bassboat to keep going. I guess he thought I had what it took. But he was happy that I was willing to walk away and take care of the people around me.
  17. I couldn't agree more.
  18. True but good customer service would have eliminated all of that.
  19. I really should go there sometime.
  20. I was just stating the obvious. I was not saying that I wouldn't end up in the same spot.

    What's Cooking?

I’m sitting at a high school football game Friday night when some shady looking hillbilly comes up and hands me a stuffed ziplock that was hidden in a white bag all wrapped up tight. I quickly hid it down by my feet. Thanks @Chief Grey Bear. That’s some damneded fine smoked bologna. Pretty sure some folks thought that was a drug deal.
