  1. It’s not just kids. Getting harder and harder to find anyone that wants to work. Hired a kid in KC. He started on Wednesday and I just happened to be there that day. As I was leaving he shook my hand and thanked me for giving him a chance. What a great thing this was going to be for his family. He seemed genuinely happy and thankful. He went home at the end of the day and we haven’t seen him since. And that is the new norm. Won’t show up for interviews, won’t show up for drug tests. Some that make it through all of that don’t ever show up for their first day. Or they work a day or two and quit. These are not difficult jobs. 8-5 M-F. NO WEEKENDS! And they pay well. It’s been a struggle for a bit and it’s not just with kids. It’s everyone.
  2. That's why I don't go. 😁
  3. This is from the Cassville paper about opening day last year. At 7 a.m., Roaring River — for the first time in six years — was not the leader in tag sales among the state’s three trout parks, about 100 total tags behind Montauk State Park’s 1,700. By noon, the gap closed to only six tags, with Roaring River reporting 1,941 (including 325 children’s tags) and Montauk selling 1,947 (including 200 children’s tags). Bennett Spring State Park, which has an ongoing project that has shut down its hatchery, was not lagging far behind at 1,864 tags sold (including 137 children’s tags).
  4. I drove through Bennett last Sunday around noon. Saw a couple of people fishing. I guess they didn't own a calendar.
  5. I was just thinking last night how much I miss a Babler report. For someone that doesn’t fish Table Rock that is saying something. Good to see a report and of course it’s a good one.
  6. This was Lake Cuchillo. The town is China. Definitely the coolest place I’ve ever been and some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. One evening when we were going into town for dinner we were passed by two military trucks full of soldiers carrying weapons and all wearing masks. They looked like they were headed somewhere serious.
  7. Nope. That is a good one though. But you gotta cross the river and drive a ways to get to the really good stuff. You know, past the machine guns setup in the median of the highway, through the town ran by a cartel, then out in the middle of nowhere. I wouldn’t take anything that I wasn’t willing to give up.
  8. Yes. If you are willing to go where I went I think they are fairly common. I would love to go back but it was sketchy back then and I’ve heard it’s a lot worse now.
  9. If any of you would spend that much please call my office to book your trip. I’ve caught a double digit bass and didn’t spend that on the whole week.
  10. I had a GF in high school whose dad had a setup like that. He could back it up just fine. I could not. I tried and tried but my brain couldn’t make it work.
  11. Me too at times but that had nothing to do with my fall. I didn’t slip. I got one leg stuck and fell the ffff down.
  12. No it wasn't that cool. It was totally stupid.
  13. I opened it up for swimming this morning around 10:30. Still a little cool. Good times.
  14. overachievers
  15. Whichever one doesn’t require that I wear a helmet should be unleaded. 😁 I think that would be great in the creeks that I will be fishing. My thought on a booby fly would be to fish it in the film. Again, much smaller water than what it was designed for.
  16. I need to try something like that sometime. Maybe that will make the box too. I like Marty’s as is but it looks like he’s got a 1/2 oz of lead on there. LOL
  17. I like this fly. Maybe a little too much weight for me but maybe not. On a little quest this year to do some nymphing for river bass and I think that one is going to make it into the box. Nice job Marty!
  18. So your wife is a waste? When do they start cutting funds to SpaceX?
  19. I knew you would recognize that spot.
  20. Yes I am done with this cold. During these last couple of really cold spells I’ve spent a considerable amount of time outside on a forklift. I don’t normally use a forklift in my job but on two of the coldest days lately, it’s all I have done. I got up early this morning with intentions of going fishing. It didn’t happen.
  21. Decided to see if we could catch a trout before we froze to death this morning. Luckily some giggers from last night left a fire going.
  22. I used to be a bit of a midge freak. Poison Tungsten was always my favorite color.
  23. Trout flies huh? Do they have to catch fish? Aren’t trout dumb? I’m in.
  24. One of these days the timing is going to work out and I'm going to make one of these trips. Looks like you all had a great time.
