  1. Here’s a pic of Pat and his doctor.
  2. He’s doing good. Same old Patfish. Sore of course and making the nurses earn their money. I’d share a pic if he wasn’t always flipping us the bird in them.
  3. Pat sent me (most likely had his wife send me) a pic of him sitting up in his hospital bed late last night. All it said was "Lived". Obviously it didn't affect his sense of humor.
  4. I know a lot of you guys know Pat or Patfish as he is known around here. He had surgery today to have a tumor removed from his brain. I just found out that it went better than expected and they were able to remove 90% of it. That's all I know right now but keep him in your thoughts. He's a good dude and a great friend.
  5. Sorry I was just giving you a hard time. I see the smaller creeks around town everyday and the trash that is in them. Plus all the runoff form the yards and the golf courses that make its way into the James. And then there is the water from the wastewater treatment plants. I'm sure it's anything but good. But the James is still a beautiful river that is full of quality fish. I don't think the water in it is much different than water from the other creeks and rivers entering Table Rock. But if everybody wants to stay the hell away from it then that's fine by me too!
  6. Weird. The James looks pretty clear and nice until it reaches the lake.
  7. Can't tell you how many hours my dad spent in his life standing behind me in the front of a bass boat ready to fire a fluke into the water. We had some really good days like that.
  8. Relax Francis.
  9. If you are going to tie some check out Brian Wise's Youtube Channel. He does a great job with his videos. https://www.youtube.com/user/flyfishingtheozarks

    Get Out!

I used to when I was younger. I mean like from 10 to 12. You wake up pissing in the kitchen trash and you will know it's real. A drunk? Maybe. But not a 10 year old kid.
  11. The Drake mag and the Drake forum are two completely different animals. I agree with Wrench. You should introduce yourself on their forum.
  12. That’s not a fly rod
  13. Well it wasn’t that long ago that iPhone got busted for slowing down their old devices.
  14. I know this isn't what you mean but it brings up a funny story. My step grandad, we called him Sarge, would make me and my cousins load shells for him if we wanted to go hunting. So one cold day we were out in his freezing cold shop reloading shells for ourselves and he was being exceptionally grumpy. So we loaded him a couple of boxes of shells but in about every other shell we replaced the shot with wads of paper. We actually took the time to roll up wads of paper like shot. Next day we were out quail hunting and he tries to drop a bird with confetti. It was hilarious...........for a second.
  15. I started with an old .410 that my dad got for me when I was 8. I remember us working on that gun and refinishing the stock and re-bluing it. Shot a lot of dove and quail with that little gun before I got a 20 ga. When my dad passed my mom gave it to my nephew. Hopefully someday his dad will take him to shoot it but probably not.
  16. MINOR accidents are good for the economy.
  17. Smart lady. I'm about sick of these winters myself. But my plan is to move south full time.
  18. I realize that everyone will call BS but about 10 years ago I saw the size of fish you are looking for 3 times. Twice in one day and the another time about a week later. All 3 times it followed a bait all the way back to the boat. I spent several months on that spot chasing that stupid fish. Caught some good fish but never found the one.
  19. There is no way my wife is going to get up early on her weekend so i can go fish. I’ve never had a problem paddling up. Sometimes you have to get out and drag it behind you but it’s very doable. But it would be a challenge in high water. You could work something out with the outfitters though. I’ve put in early at Kerr before and floated down to James River Outfitters. Then i just grab a ride back up to get my vehicle and go back to their place for my boat. I’m sure Hootontown would do the same. I remember asking Diane at Hootontown one day to shuttle me. It was in the afternoon and looked like it was going to start pouring rain any second. I asked her if I was crazy for getting on the river. She said “I don’t know, do you have cash?” LOL If you want it bad enough you can find a way.
  20. I'll probably see a guy that will know later this week. If we don't have details by then I'll ask.
  21. I don't know about that. I met him not long after and he didn't strike me as the type to be out drowning crickets.

They are interesting creatures. I grew up around them so they were never any different than any other animal. Seems like when I was a kid they were always getting in the garden. I think my dad was racing them because when mom would mention there was one in the garden you'd hear what sounded like a starting pistol going off. I wouldn't eat one of those greasy bastards though.

Other than humans, nine-banded armadillos (Dasypus novemcinctus) are the only highly endemic natural hosts of Mycobacterium leprae https://www.lepra.org.uk/platforms/lepra/files/lr/sept05/lep198-208.pdf Of course this is coming from biologists so...........................
