LOL. You know I was only kidding. If I could keep my kids from spending all my money I'd hire you for a day just to get out.

Do you know a decent guide??

I do too but wives buying things they don't understand is just flushing money. My mother in law is trying to buy me something fishing related for Christmas. She has never been fishing a day in her life. I keep telling her to just keep her money and not waste it but she won't listen. She asked me if I had a fishing vest at Thanksgiving. And when I said no I don't like them she starts trying to sell me on the benefits of wearing one. So I would rather have gift cards with a balance than a vest that I will never wear.

I'll have my money back in my account tomorrow. I can guarantee that. I bought new tires online through Walmart back in the Spring. Scheduled a day to have them put on and dropped off her ride. They called me back a few hours later and said they could only find three of the tires and would instead be putting much more expensive tires on her car all the way around for no extra charge. That was a win.

Gift Certificate in any color would be the best bet.

Well I'm sure TW is doing a better job than Walmart. I purchased a TV online Saturday around noon as part of their online Black Friday sale. It was supposed to be ready for pickup at the store by 4pm. At 7pm I went to the store with my kid to pick up some things she needed and to see what was taking so long for the TV. The line at the online pickup desk was long and angry. Apparently walmart.com wasn't working properly and they could not process any orders. I finally convinced them to sell me a TV at the online price and left the store. I cancelled my online order before I ever even left the parking lot. Well guess who got charged for a second TV? So yesterday I called their customer service and guess what? They can't do a thing about it until the order finally makes it to the store and then the store actually cancels the order. I will say the guy I talked to was very nice. He even commented that I was very understanding and not everyone is as understanding when they have $500 tied up in a purchase they cancelled. I'm giving them one more day and then I'm going to change their mind about how nice and pleasant I am. Thing is this isn't the first time I've been screwed by walmart.com. Twice before I've ordered and paid for photo prints that I never received. They made it too much hassle to worry about the twenty bucks both times. But this is $500. Time for them to meet Mr. Hyde.

Al if you really want to have a great experience with smallies on the fly I would team up with Wrench and Jeff Trigg and have Jeff take you on one of his smallie floats. I was talking to him last night and he had a really great year guiding his smallie floats. He can show you the best methods for getting one to eat a fly.

Those were always the first things to go even when I was gear fishing. I would leave the one in the back if my dad was with me. I fished a float tube a bunch when I was a kid on farm ponds in Oklahoma and the pits in SE Kansas. I love float tubes but they don't have a good use on the river in my mind. I think the only boat I would ever be comfortable fly fishing out of on the river is one being rowed by Trigg.

Cyber Monday Deal on Lew's Reel at Cabelas
Flysmallie replied to Seth's topic in General Angling Discussion
Me too!! Especially since my daughters are times 3. I'm sure they saved a lot of money this weekend on their purchases, I however did not. -
Yep. As soon as Amazon gets their way (buys some politicians) it's all downhill from there.

It's obvious that I have done a poor job of explaining myself again. You cannot compare big business to small business in any way. That's insane. The philosophy on growing should be the same for all businesses. If you ain't growing you are dying. But I'll step out of this one. I get to live this type of stuff everyday for a living. Not proud of that at all and as soon as the youngest graduates I'm out.

Aurora football advances to state playoffs
Flysmallie replied to trythisonemv's topic in General Angling Discussion
That's tough. Was surprised that Webb City lost. Man those people can pitch a fit when they lose. Never have met any of the kids that play for Webb City but they are probably like all the other high school players for the most part. But their fan base has some real turds in it. Never seen so many overly arrogant rude people at a high school football game. There are a couple of area schools that are really close though. -
Sure. Why not have them fly around your yard too to make sure your plants are legal. Fly them around downtown to catch jaywalkers. Fly them around in stores to make sure you aren't stealing anything. Maybe we can even equip them with tear gas and tazers. I think we need to drop the whole drone technology thing. We don't need drones tracking people. And we don't need a million of them in the sky delivering packages. Just another example of the need to have everything right now and the greed to deliver it.

This discussion has obviously went over most of your heads. Not surprising. American greed will kill you. I'm not saying JM shouldn't be able to make all the money that he possibly can, I'm saying he shouldn't do it by cutting payroll expense. If you don't think that's happening all the time in our country then you have zero idea what is going on. Phil comparing your business to Bass Pro is silly. There is no comparison. I'd much rather have your business than his.

Questions remain over handcuffed man drowning
Flysmallie replied to Brian Jones's topic in Conservation Issues
It's laughable to even think that the reason for the decline is because Nixon Merged the Highway and Water Patrol. That's hilarious. I don't hang out on that lake but my sister and BIL have a boat on the lake and they barely took it out last year due to water conditions. Less people on the water equals less drinking on the water. -
I've worked on a lot of acquisitions and it's tough. In most cases you have to make some changes to make them profitable. There's usually a reason they were sold in the first place. I've seen some really good people that have built some good businesses that were in a tough spot and no other option. You either close the doors or sell. New company comes in with their own ideas and in some cases, a lot of cases, you end up loosing the best talent. Some of them are lost because they don't like the new direction things are going but most are lost because you can't afford to keep paying them what they are used to making. I'd say 95% of the businesses we have added through acquisitions are totally upside down on payroll. It's hard to keep paying the bills when you lose money every month. But I also know that not ALL these changes are necessary every time. But large companies get in the habit of getting what they want and have the feeling that people can be replaced. It is sad, but you have to expect that when the Walmart of the outdoors buys any company.

Two hillbilly's fishing in New York City
Flysmallie replied to snagged in outlet 3's topic in General Angling Discussion
That's a really cool photo. Too bad they didn't get one with a big striper and that horizon in the background. I've always wanted to fish in Central Park. -
When your head coach leaves you are rebuilding. I don't care what team it is. And Chip Kelly should go back to wherever he came from. He is not the stud that everyone thought he was. Mizzou hires Kelly and I immediately become a Arkansas fan.

Champ doesn't laugh when it comes to knifing a bass. You are going to give him an aneurysm.
-
I'm going to throw a turkey on the smoker and smoke a ham right over the top of it. Those delicious warm ham juices will drip and flow all over that turkey's breasts.
-
Then why not use barbless hooks on everything. Just shake them loose when they are up next to the boat? I'm just giving you crap. Some guys just aren't meant for it.
-
But he's had 3 losses in a row!! He's out. Seems like the boosters are running the show down there. More of the same in the society failure of America.

Are you still cranky today?

I like that everyone is still hung up on it being an elitist thing. If you saw me on the river with a fly rod I would make your brain hurt. It's not hard. It's not expensive. You don't have to look like Brad Pitt in the movie. It IS NOT the most effective method most of the time. But it sure is a hell of a lot of fun. I have no desire to cover 15 miles on the river in a day chucking a bait on conventional gear. I still carry and use it to fish from a canoe with but at times I like to use the fly rod. What is better is only my own opinion and that's the only thing that matters to me at this point. What will I get the most joy out of at the time. I did the maximum stress style of fishing in my past. I really enjoyed it for a while. Now I enjoy a much more laid back style using what is the most fun and not so much about what is the most effective. It's a hobby. You are supposed to enjoy those. Here's a test for you. Try to hook a nice smallmouth on both fly and conventional rod. Don't think about the cast, don't think about the bait, don't think about the presentation. You have a fish hooked on conventional gear. You've got that nice reel with that expensive drag system to help play that fish to your hand. Now start all over. You have a fish hooked on a fly rod. Yes it has a drag but it doesn't quite work the same, at all. It's a whole new ballgame. And like wrench said it doesn't really matter if you land it or not.

You can shoot still pictures with a GoPro old man.
