  1. We used to put bass boats on it all the time. This was early 90's. We would just remove the prop and leave it in the truck and nobody ever said a thing. But that was then and this was now. They could open the ramp over by the boat house, but they won't. It's going to be 3 or 4 years before they reopen the one under 65 if they ever do. This city isn't very fond of fishing. There are some good places to fish in some of the parks but they closed all those to fishing years ago. I don't think they are against fishing, I just think they are too ignorant to understand it. Back when they were just starting to consider an urban archery deer hunting program one of the ladies on City Council opposed it because she didn't understand how archery worked and there would need to be studies done on it to determine it's safety in an urban environment. Funny thing is that the Park Board owns a very nice archery range and employs several archery coaches. If the city council had questions about archery then why didn't they just ask the people that they have on payroll? Or go to the range and shoot some bows? Intelligence is lacking in this city's government.
  2. I think one of the benefits of having the chat is the guys are more comfortable sharing information that isn't on the internet for everyone to see forever. You have to be a member to join the chat. For what you want you just need to start a thread about a topic and let everyone answer at will. But I doubt you get as good of information as what you would on the chat.
  3. It is on a floating worm for sure. I was a little over obsessed with fishing a floating worm. Tried all the colors I could find. Solid colors, laminates, anything and everything. Always went back to pink. It wasn't because it was better than any of the others but I could see it a lot better and that was everything to me. So now I only buy pink ones. Confidence is key.
  4. That's exactly what I was thinking.
  5. Well I never used the follow feature so I'm no help.
  6. Congrats. Good times for sure.
  7. Go to "Edit this Stream" and play with the settings. It get's better.
  8. Yeah I'm not liking this one. But if it you need it that way then I'm all for it and will get used to it at some point.

    What's Cooking?

    Everything is better with smallmouth.
  10. True but I bet there is more of that going on in the big cities. Just funny that most people think of hillbilly's when they think of something like that but I see a lot of it going on just making it through the hood on my way to work every day.
  11. You guys are going to have a hard time getting me to believe that smallmouth migrate like birds and butterflies. I just don't see the reason for them to do so. Maybe in certain areas on certain streams and lakes. But I don't see what the benefit is for a fish to leave the James river to head into Table Rock for the winter. Maybe we need to start our own tagging and study of fish migration.
  12. I haven't done this much on rivers but it's how I always fished a crankbait in the lakes. If you can't fish it slowly banging along the bottom then you either need shallower water or a deeper running bait.
  13. I have used these and I love them. I think they are actually made to adhere to the inside of clothing. That's how I use them anyway.
  14. When you find the unicorn let me know. I just carry several pairs of fingerless gloves that Bass Pro sells for like $5 per pair. They stay surprisingly warm even when damp and once they get really wet I just switch them out. I can't fish with my fingers covered.
  15. I think that's what everyone was trying to do until you and spoon whatever came rushing into to protect the MDC. But whatever. I'm out of this ignorance.
  16. I no longer worry about politics. I don't make enough money to make a difference to them. I worried about all that crap and educated myself and voted and NOTHING has changed. Then I saw how things really worked so I'm out. Good of luck to you though!
  17. neither will continually sucking them off and trying to protect them. Change will only come if you want to buy a lobbyist.
  18. That will show them! You are only hurting yourself.
  19. Nice job Joe!

    Royals!

    I can't say that I blame them. I can't stand the guy.
  21. I would have packed and left when I saw the school bus. Great story though!!
  22. I think most have a tendency to fish this lake too deep. Yes you can have some success doing that. But these fish seem to like the shallow water better, even in the heat of the summer. In the fall I'm probably not fishing anything deeper than 10 feet with a buzzbait, spinnerbait and crankbait. You can drag the depths and find some fish, but I would rather cover some water and burn up those 3 lures looking for better fish. The area around Bolivar landing would be my first choice and the area around Wheatland would be my second choice. No reason to go any place else.
  23. Hell Hog it was over before it ever started. Just like all the other times it's been discussed, nothing will change. Ever.
  24. But that's exactly what they are proposing. That's why they are having the meetings, that's why they are asking for comments. They want to know how you feel before they change the regulations. And those that express their feelings the most will get the most benefit from the change. I'm surprised you haven't figured this out yet.
